[Spoilers] Season 11 Discussion Thread

The show is produced by the same people  as tbbt uses Jim Parsons for voice narration and is expressly about the childhood of the same Dr. Sheldon Lee Cooper and his family that is featured  on TBBT.

To use a Star Trek term it is "prime universe" a direct prequel to TBBT you can not watch it or pretend it dosent exist but that dossent change what it is. The factual account of Sheldons childhood

Matters not to me, you can believe what you want to believe. To me it's a he said, she said and I'll stay with TBBT's version since I don't watch that spin off. As far as I'm concerned there is no YS and TBBT's version is correct. So enjoy the spin off.

Did Sheldon's parents get divorced? I thought his dad just died. Or am I either remembering you wrong or reading you wrong? George did say on TBBT that Mary was a wreck when George, Sr. died.

It was never said in the show they get an officiaI divorce, but SheIdon has mentioned  a coupIe of times during the seasons (and I'm not referring to when he explained the reason why he knocks 3 times) his father had a "girlfriend", so i guess they were at Ieast separated

Plenty of married men have girlfriends and he didn't knock three times when the show started. That came later. I was trying to remember when he said they actually got divorced but I couldn't do it. It was frustrating me.  I always had this image in my head that George did it with some teacher at the school or something like that.

I don't think they got a divorce or separated. Mary was and probably still is a god fearing, bible believing woman, who doesn't believe in divorce. She looked the other way and took out her frustrations in other ways. 😊

During the Christmas episode when Amy and SheIdon went to Texas he mentioned his father was Iiving with another woman and his mother didn't take the thing weII; I do believe Mary never wanted to make things officiaI because of her Christian beliefs, but IMO at some point they separated and Iived apart

Supposedly he did the three knock routine as a younger boy when he walked in on his father having sex with another woman. I forget what the three knocks were for since I can't remember what he told Penny. You're right, he didn't do it at the start of the show. Maybe because before Penny and Leonard got together the first time, he didn't need the three knocks. I remember that one knock was to let them know he was at the door. The second was to let them get dressed. The third knock, I can't remember.

The things I know the writers have been asked about a lot are Penny's maiden name, Howard's father and the elevator. Anybody remembers something else?

I'd do one of these two:

1. Reveal her maiden name to be Hofstedter.

or

2. Have one of her parents on and one of the gang about to ask her something. In this example, her mom and Sheldon):

Susan: Oh, hi Sheldon.

Sheldon: Hello Mrs. (interrupted)

Susan: Oh no, no, no. You can just call me Susan.

If that were true, hopefully she would have known how to spell it by then and not gotten drunk worrying about learning how to spell it.

Probably when Penny is drunk she would have a problem spelling her own last name whatever it was.

I think Leonard might know her maiden name.  Didn't he bring her mail to her when it was "misdirected"  And it most assuredly would be on the marriage certificate
