That's not a wild past. That just happened I think season 10 or 9. When you talk about wild past, I think that is when she was married as George Sr.

I mean before. She once said when she was a teenager you could have had her for a bottle of strawberry wine, or something like that. I'd have to go look it up.

Yes, but we're not sure if her family belonged to any particular religion before she married George, Sr. Many Christian teenagers go through a rebellious phase.

I assume in the one clip you saw Leonard rushing to pour Penny wine again instead of defending her because that makes everything better...although if he had I concede it would have thrown the timing of the scene off.

Christians can drink.

Christians includes a lot of people and denominations (not just evangelical folks) and many of those have apretty strong tradition with quite a bit of drinking.  And then you have those who drink grape juice at communion.

Just rewaatched with my daughter last week's episode. Realized after watching a second time how  horrible Mary was as a mother. It seems the ten years that the brothers hadn't talked was caused by her. It was a situation she should of fixed and not letting Sheldon try to fix it. It did make Leonard look like a better parent than Mary. Instead of going to pray for Missy in the finale she should be praying for forgiveness for whatshe did wrong IMO.

I didn't pick up on   that. What did Mary do in 2008 when Sheldon would have been 27 or 28 and George Jnr  31 or 32 ?  Sheldon was sharing 4A  with Leonard then. I don't recall Missy and Sheldon discussing anything about George when she came to see him.

As I said, it doesn't exist for me, so it's not canon to me. That's that! You may go and enjoy that show all you want, just don't tell me it's cannon. To me it's not.

And you'd be wrong again. It is canon. That's a fact whether you decide to acknowledge it or not. It is canon you're choosing to ignore. Btw, I watched some episodes of YS and don't like it that much, but yet it IS a part of TBBT universe.

As for Mary and sex, she has said she had a wilder past as a young woman and Sheldon caught her sleeping with the guy from Bible study, so she seems to be a cafeteria Evangelical. She picks and chooses what she believes.

Exactly. For all her religious fanaticism she was pretty lackadaisical about sleeping with that guy. I'm no expert, but I believe the tenets of Christian religions hold the concept of having sex only when married pretty high in their list of priorities.

True. The Christians who don't drink follow a sub-cultural tradition of their particular denomination, usually based on its historical beginnings. It's not a Christian belief. If  the denomination once had a mission to communities where parents were drinking and gambling their wages away instead of providing for their families, they would push temperance as a way of life among the converted for obvious reasons.  As someone once wrote about a religious revival in Wales:  'Water wasn't turned into wine, but beer was turned into food and clothes and furniture.' Thus abstaining from intoxicating liquor became traditional in their denomination.

Baptists and Methodists in UK often choose to follow the non-drinking tradition of their denominations' missionary pasts. We know Baptist Meemaw still likes her whisky served 'A lot, in a glass'. I have Methodist relatives who won't even eat a trifle if there's sherry in it. However,my Methodist grandma had a Guinness with my aunt every night.  When said aunt was dying she chose  a very high-church Anglican priest over the Methodist minister to take her funeral service because she knew him from the pub.

Mary didn’t necessarily do anything back in 2008 But obviously growing up till he went away to college Sheldon and is brother didn’t get along. Sheldon always thought he was being picked on and his brother thought he was the favorite. Many times George tried to protect him  George seems to be correct even by just TBBT. He went to school in Germany which cost money even just to fly there. It has been mentioned she flown there and in the show she has flown to California. Growing up it’s been acknowledged his parents didn’t have much money. When the father died his mother didnt tell Sheldon how difficult things were. Many would of realized on their own but Sheldon didn’t realize that. George, with the aid of Leonard, explained how things were. JMO but Sheldon at this point was able to recognize and accept what George was saying. Since Mary knew all that was explained in the episode I really think she was the real problem.

Honestly I liked  George (on TBBT) last week - especially with Leonard but the whole Sheldon apologizing business seemed very contrived and weird.  But then a lot of Sheldon conversation. Seems pretty strange in its normalacy these days.  I expect to laugh through Sheldon’s  vows (as I do for all his declarations of love) because it just seems so bizzarly out of character.  I have sometimes liked it when they show a vulnerable and sort of grateful Sheldon, but not -oh I guess I was wrong in everything I have been saying and thinking my whole life.  Sorry George Pass the mustard please.

I suggest you watch YS, It seems everyone is taking their cue on Sheldon from there. Those writers, from what I read here, seem so much smarter than TBBT's writers on Sheldon's past. Everything written about Sheldon's past was wrong according to YS,

Your opinion and definitely others agree with you. As for me, I disagree and since my opinion is most important to me, I will personally choose to ignore yours.

Not as contrived as for the three knocks on Penny’s doors relating to his father cheating on his mother. Sheldon apologizing and realizing what really happened was a long time in coming. I can see why it can be seen as contrived. But I think then It must be considered Amy and shamy getting married equally contrived.

From Glamour

The Big Bang Theory wrapped filming on the show's eleventh season nearly two weeks ago, which means one thing for the cast and crew: vacation. But executive producer and showrunner Steve Holland was more than happy to interrupt his time off to give us a preview of Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler's wedding. (The episode, the show's season finale, airs Thursday, May 10.)

"I'm excited, so I'm happy to talk about it," Holland tells Glamour. "And I think it's OK to reveal that Sheldon and Amy do get married. This moment has been building for eight or nine years, so, yes, they're going to make it to the wedding. There won't be anything where someone gets cold feet and runs away. We didn't believe this couple would do that." Plus, Shamy shippers wouldn't allow it.

The episode features a cast of returning favorites, including Laurie Metcalf, Jerry O'Connell, and Courtney Henggeler as Mary, Georgie, and Missy Cooper respectively. You'll also see Kathy Bates and Teller (the magician-comedian) as Amy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fowler. There's also Star Wars legend Mark Hamill. "He's playing himself," Holland says, "but his role in the episode is a surprise."

Normally before an episode as big as this, the team behind a show is hesitant to release too many pictures—lest they ruin the surprise. But this time was an exception: Holland's not worried about spoilers because fans have already seen Amy's wedding dress a few episodes back. Plus, he says, there are still enough surprises that the photos don't give everything away. In fact, there were so many special moments that they couldn't all fit into the episode. Fortunately, Holland says bonus scenes will be released on CBS.com immediately after the finale.

"This was a big episode, so there was a lot of pressure that we put on our ourselves. We felt like we really had to deliver," Holland says. "It was very important for us to get this right."

This reminds me of some huge arguments I had with Harry Potter fans about whether or not things JKR told us about the characters AFTER the books came out were canon. I said no. I can't imagine fans picking up the books 50 years from now hunting down all of her old interviews just to see how they are supposed to feel about certain things. I don't like YS and don't watch YS very much, although I have seen three or four of them. It's the difference between the original show and the new show that annoy me.

Presumably one of the bonus scenes will be the Meemaw call (which was done by Annie Potts I believe) and most likely some further interaction scenes between the guests as they waiting for them when they were off doing their equation? Maybe a scene with Penny interacting with Amy's parents as she picked them up?

Interesting that they are going to put some bonus scenes out there, thought they would have been saved purely for the DVD release.

I would have thought that, too. I guess I'll have to go to CBS.com at some point and look at them just out of curiosity.
