highly anticipated moment will take place on the season 11 finale

Well actually, this is not a highly anticipated moment for me. Both Lenny weddings were highly anticipated to me and what did I get? A sorry inconsiderate, jerk ruining both ceremonies for me.

I think the excitement of the episode has nothing to do with the wedding.

Excited about the extra scenes. The more the better. It's the Shamy wedding after all. Bring it on.

And Leonard didn't have any effect on ruining the vegas wedding? That is what ruined it for me. Leonard admitting he kissed Mandy. Great way to start a new life as a married couple.

Do you think tptb you pull something out of their a**es for sheldon. I really think they did that to leonard just to try and make sheldon good like the better person its jmo but they been doing that for the last 3 seasons

The whole Mandy thing was very unnecessary. Lenny getting married still could of been a cliffhanger. The rest of the episode was fine.

Many people are looking forward to it. I always knew Leonard would end up with Penny. Most people knew this. Sheldon was the exact opposite. Never in a million years would anyone expect Sheldon to find love and get married. That is what the difference is. People are excited to see him overcome his phobias, his issues to live a sucessful normal life. With Lenny you knew what the outcome was. There was not really a lot of will they or won't they. Straight out the door he was looking for someone. Leonard was and is still the normal of the guys.

Agree!

The writers clearly thought that having Leonard kissing another woman than Penny would be funny and a great cliffhanger. That they messed up Lenny's wedding in 9.01 was clearly not important to the writers.

And I knew Sheldon and Amy would end up together. As Mr Holland put it for eight long years now. Leonard was looking for someone at the beginning. So was Raj

Mary didn’t necessarily do anything back in 2008 But obviously growing up till he went away to college Sheldon and is brother didn’t get along. Sheldon always thought he was being picked on and his brother thought he was the favorite. Many times George tried to protect him  George seems to be correct even by just TBBT. He went to school in Germany which cost money even just to fly there. It has been mentioned she flown there and in the show she has flown to California. Growing up it’s been acknowledged his parents didn’t have much money. When the father died his mother didnt tell Sheldon how difficult things were. Many would of realized on their own but Sheldon didn’t realize that. George, with the aid of Leonard, explained how things were. JMO but Sheldon at this point was able to recognize and accept what George was saying. Since Mary knew all that was explained in the episode I really think she was the real problem.

So you think Mary's attitude and behaviour over many years contributed to whatever the issue was in 2008 that resulted in her sons not speaking to each other ? That would make sense,at least from George's point of view.

According to Y S the family didn't have enough money to keep all the children in new shoes but there was no hint of that in TBBT before 9/12 when Sheldon told Raj about his father getting sacked from a job in a shop for defrauding the owner. I'd imagined until then that George Snr had left the family reasonably well provided-for. He'd been gone many years when Missy came to Sheldon with paperwork pertaining to winding up their father's estate. I inferred from that that some trust or investment must have matured. I thought they lived in a big house as children because three of them had a room each when they were eight. When Mary was needed for Sheldon in TBBT she seemed to have no problem getting on a plane and staying in a hotel. She'd even been on a cruise. I couldn't think what well-paid job she might do in order to afford all that, so I assumed she had a decent widow's pension. Yes, I do think about things like that. Probably comes from being born during rationing.

I suppose it could have happened that the move to a less prosperous area which was mentioned in YS, was recent, making it necessary for the twins to share when they were nine. We see that George Snr is a teacher. If what Sheldon and Mary say about his intelligence in TBBT is true, we can assume he went downhill - possibly through drinking. Sheldon by no means took it for granted anyway that teachers were necessarily clever.

Sheldon was a visiting professor in Germany, presumably paid and with expenses met, not a student, so it looks as though George, with all he had on his mind at twenty with a new wife etc was mistaken there. Understandable. Another thing I'd assumed was that Meemaw had stepped into the breach whenever Mary had needed to be away with Sheldon while George Snr was working, sick or drinking. If it fell on Georgie's shoulders it's small wonder he resents Sheldon's insensitivity about it.

No, Leonard did not mess up the wedding! He screwed up prior to the wedding by confessing to the kiss. He should have confessed in episode 7/2. The reason he didn't say anything about the kiss is because the stupid writers didn't dream it up until 8/24. Sheldon is the only dumb ass to ruin both weddings making everything about him.

Interesting that they are going to put some bonus scenes out there, thought they would have been saved purely for the DVD release.

I hope they also put them on the DVD/Blu-ray releases, as well. Otherwise, it's a missed opportunity. I would have thought that they'd put the cast's 200th episode interview on Conan on the season 9 release, since both series are WB productions, but they didn't.

As soon as he told Penny about the kiss I checked out of the wedding and was surprised that Penny went through with it. I would have held off getting married at that time. To me that killed the wedding. Penny wasn't even happy during the episode.

And I would of held off too. Buy again it comes back to those writers who wrote it.

Missy was there for a wedding and paperwork. That was over 10 years ago. As to YS and TBBT I don't think he could of been a teacher on TBBT. On TBBT there house was on wheels.

I saw a happy Penny. Don't know what episode you watched. Penny was happy until after the wedding and in the hotel room when the argument started. Right after the ceremony she smiled into the camera and said "We did it". If you "checked out" of the wedding, then that's your problem. But, at least you can be happy that the Shamy wedding will go off with out issues due to the disrupter is getting married and the writers won't mess up the so called wedding of the century.

Sounds good to me! Very different weddings for very different couples. Would be a tad boring if they were all the same. I think the writers did a great job incorporating the personalities of all the different characters into the story and thier respective weddings.

Leonard did ask her  a couple of times if she still wanted to go through with the wedding and she replied yes "we have waited long enough".  I don't believe she was that upset with the kiss itself as Leonard said they were both drunk and I am sure she had a few of those episodes.  I think she became more upset when he told her that they worked together at the university and then realized he worked with her for the past two years and did not confess this to her. However, in the analysis of both of these weddings what gets me is the overall planning in the Shamy wedding while the Lenny planning was non-existent. The whole year they were engaged there was not one episode or mention of their wedding plans until the finale when they eloped. And then they took away the excitement and emotion from their nuptials with the ridiculous Mandy kiss and Sheldon's infantile behavior. Why couldn't they give Penny and Leonard a nice wedding and save Sheldon's rant for the next episode.  But now they want to give Shamy an epic episode with no cliffhangers.  JMO

I absolutely agree with everything you said. The only time Lenny's wedding was mentioned other than 8/23 when they were pushed into eloping, was when Penny said she wanted to wait for her brother. Which would take 12 to18 months.

Here's what we Lennys got.  1. A confession in 8.24 as they were driving toward the happiest day of their lives;    2. An argument and being apart soon after the ceremony in 9.01 at which ceremony was interrupted repeatedly in such a way that the gathered friends and the viewing audience missed the ultimate moment ;  3.  A dream sequence in which the newlywed husband envisions his wife and his best friend in a moment that included kissing, hugging, a legs wrapped around embrace in 9.02 in which lengthy discussions of "how could he".......

When you compare the two couples and their weddings, it's pretty clear which couple the writers prioritize.

Don't forget spending their wedding night in separate apartments.
