I don't think Penny wanted Mandy part of the storyline. Nor did Lenny fans want half the episode to pertain to Shamy.

No one, but the writers, wanted a cry baby to interfere with the first wedding or the inconsiderate ass to interfere with the second wedding.

Well, the issue is that Lenny fans didn't get what they wanted. Can't fault them for being disappointed. Even if the writers priority was a low-key wedding to fit with Penny's character they still could've gotten around to it in a more satisfying way.

That could be something we could discuss during the hiatus - apart from omitting the Mandy story, and not having the vows drowned out by Sheldon's nonsense, what could they have written to make the Lenny wedding more satisfactory for fans while keeping it in character ?

I know back in Season 6 there was as much"hostility" (probably not the right word) than there is now. I think the the problem IMO started in the finale of season 6 when Sheldon was in the back seat when Penny was taking Leonard to the airport.

Why wait two days to start the debate? The Hiatus officially begins at 7:30 p.m(EST) Thursday May 10, 2018. Why wait?

I think we should rather talk about the immediate past (S11). The "cheese" from yesterday and before yesterday has been rotten for a long time, or, in "normal" words it's all water under the bridge now. :shy:

From tvline.com:

Is The Big Bang Theory Really, Truly Heading Into Its Final Season?

Quote

[...]

Asked if he was approaching next season as Big Bang‘s swan song, showrunner Steve Holland tells TVLine, “Until I hear differently, yes.” The EP, however, is quick to note that an official decision about the show’s end date has not been made. “I know we have next season, but I don’t know what happens beyond that,” he opines. “And it’s not my decision to make. So all I can do is go forward with next season and make it great.”

Holland has every expectation that CBS will definitively confirm “whether we’re writing a season or a series finale” well in advance of May 2019. In the meantime, “We’re not leaving anything on the table in Season 12,” he stresses. “If there are stories we want to do, we will put them out there and see what happens.”

I wouldn't be surprised if we would start discussing Penny's and Raj little adventure in season 4 finale during the hiatus.

I do ‘t Know when these discussions (about S13) start to take place, but it is clearly not before the season finale is even filmed.  The latest interview with Johnny (filmed then) says they aren’t in discussions, but then goes on to say this isn’t the time when we wwiuld be.

Some articles published after the finaIe was taped said that the "conversations" about S 13 have started, but it is IikeIy they wiII take some time; in fact, the journalist said it's not very IikeIy we'II know anything for the CBS Up fronts, which wiII take pIace on May 16th. Iet's see if CBS drops some more hints about the future of show on that occasion, I bet they wiII be asked a Iot about  it!

JMO but fans of the show should be disappointed not just Lenny fans.

I can't see why anyone but Lenny fans should care. The wedding certainly wasn't something that hugely mattered to me. None of them are actually. I can't even commiserate with the Shamy fans that are disappointed they aren't seeing the reception and first dance and whatever. I like ensemble plots that are funny, not all of the relationship stuff.

I'm just usually on this thread so I really haven't seen the disappointments. JMO in theory a storyline can be enjoyable no matter what it is specifically about if it's enseamble plots or relationship stuff.

To each their own. I for one don't want to see receptions, first dance, Father/daughter dance. None of that crap matters to me. Do the wedding, show everyone leaving and move on. But, seeing this is the golden couple, we'll probably have to endure more bull than the other weddings had.

JMO but if the Lenny first wedding was done better much of the ill will towards the upcoming wedding would probably been avoided.

It's guaranteed that there will be some one who loves every moment in this episode as in all episodes. The same person may not love the entire episode, but someone will love each scene. To me, the best parts of Sheldon scenes are when he hurts himself or is made to look like an idiot (Bill Gates Episode). I usually laugh my ass off on those episodes. 😊

I agree, both weddings were nice, if they had cut out the Mandy kiss bull and the crying baby interrupting the first wedding and the inconsiderate jerk interrupting the second attempt of a wedding.

Yep, just as I thought. No new conversations to catch up on. Pretty much the same as yesterday. Going to be a looonnnggg summer on the sight.

I would like to see a season 13. My guess is you wouldn't know anything until June. I would assume there is even more details to hammer out if this were to happen. I would happily watch.

I don't know too many disapointed Shamy fans. The ones I talk to are fine without a reception being shown. It is the vows that are important. I would prefer a mix of relationship and group episodes. They should rotate between the three couples so no one feels left out.

It’s not up to the writers or even the show runners to decide on an extension beyond s12. But the studio. If WB think another season is profitable. They’ll back the truck up, so to speak. Simple as just. All about money at this stage.

Look we all watched or invested in this show for different reasons. But what matters too you individually. Could be something different for several other ppl. Just because Lenny’s wedding did not matter to you individually. Diddnt mean it did not to the majority of ppl watching the show.

Like I said Leonard and Penny’s relationship was the Major story arch since the pilot. So regardless if you like Leonard and Penny or not. You would expect some pay off. But so far the pay off with Lenny being married is like living off left overs. Not fulfilling at all. Of course I agree if they showed better care and detail to Lenny’s wedding from the get go. A lot of this could of been avoided. Of course that ain’t the case with Sheldon. It’s wedding of the century.

I agree. But you always have some who will complain just to complain.

Won't the relationship stuff be over now ? There's only Raj to fix up and he hasn't been able even to get into a relationship to speak of for years now. Without a character transplant there isn't going to be one for him. I foresee funny ensemble plots, science, work and the normal family stuff in the background that everybody has.
