It's a hot topic amongst trekkers and i personally love the show and it will be directly competing with TBBT for live viewers, maybe the competition will break them out of the complacency of the last few seasons :shy:

One never knows.

I lost interest in Star Trek in the 80s when the started to make awful movies.

The reason its a hot topic for discussion is that its NOT a trek show and looks to be what many want but aren't getting from recent trek a bright fun and optimistic version of the future

Especially when compared to what we have seen so far of ST Discovery

I've been missing this type of fun sci fi show since Chuck. The Orville I've just watched the pilot. LOVED it. Bit forced ATM. In terms of the comedy. But it's all their.

Similar to what tbbt was ten years ago.

Fingers crossed we are lucky enough to learn about the taping in the coming days. If anyone who views this forum is going I hope you have a fanastic time and experience, any information you are willing or happy to share as always will be greatly appreciated. :)

It's not lost on some of us that we are indeed lucky to get anything.

Well lets see, i have lost my job while living paycheck to paycheck with a wife and baby to provide for if that counts good thing for them i picked myself up and delt with it instead of running away to ride the rails like a hobo. "most people" have times in their lives that make sheldons problems look ridiculously simple.

That's great for you. You had responsibilities (your wife and baby). Sheldon didn't (and basically still doesn't). Some people do that, move away from their problems. Since his "running away" really had no effect on anyone (like in your situation), so what?

So nothing, the comment was that sheldons situation was potentially catastrophic and that "most people" would react as he did both points are provably incorrect.

Sheldons reaction was exaggerated for comedy sake and was not a "normal" adult reactuon to adversity.

Its a tv comedy and Sheldon is not real, his actions are not and do not have to be normal. Insisting on justifying them as such is like saying Barney Fife is reasonable portrayal of the average law enforcement officer

People don't "run away" from problems?!?

Ever talk to folks that live on their boats in harbors?  Ex-pats? Folks in the Navy who wanted to make sure they don't get stationed near family in Nebraska? Folks in Doctors Without Borders? Early settlers that left England for the US? Quit jobs to write books? Divorce during their 40s or 50s, marry someone else and move to a different city?

People run away from problems ALL the time.
