People don't "run away" from problems?!?
Ever talk to folks that live on their boats in harbors?  Ex-pats? Folks in the Navy who wanted to make sure they don't get stationed near family in Nebraska? Folks in Doctors Without Borders? Early settlers that left England for the US? Quit jobs to write books? Divorce during their 40s or 50s, marry someone else and move to a different city?
People run away from problems ALL the time.
I personally i don think they literally run away
I live on my boat and i never run away from a problem

None of those equate to "running away" as sheldon did. He didnt decide to make a serious life change and move to another university that would allow him to study his subject of choice which would be the equivalent to most of your examples, he chose to get on a train and ride the rails with no destination "like a hobo"

The extent to which some will attempt to justify and normalize his actions which are intentionally exaggerated for laughs baffles me

Its a tv comedy and Sheldon is not real, his actions are not and do not have to be normal. Insisting on justifying them as such is like saying Barney Fife is reasonable portrayal of the average law enforcement officer

If Sheldon reacted to everything normally, plenty of TBBT plots wouldn't be there.  The major portions of plots of Indecision Amalgamation(PS vs xbox), Bath Item Gift Hypothesis, Adhesive Duck Deficiency, Panty Pinata Polarization, Pants Alternative, Einstein Approximation (and the ball pit scene) , Agreement Dissection or…countless other popular TBBT episodes wouldn’t even exist.

One one hand, you are criticizing Sheldon for running away and not having a reasonable reaction  to the situation. On the other hand, You said it yourself, his antics don't HAVE to be normal and are just meant for exaggerated comedy.   It is a sitcom, not real life, so  I personally don't see the point in complaining that he isn't suddenly and magically acting like a normal person in the first place.

It should be from Bill Prady's brand new IG account, he announced yesterday on Twitter he was opening one (I thought he was joking, TBH...)

Not 100% sure, anyway, maybe someone read the tweet too and created a fake one, LOL!

IIRC that was the scene when Sheldon was having a meltdown over his career and Leonard suggested Sheldon moving over to 4B. So his job and his place at living was at risk, most people in that situation would have that reaction.

@serena_1995 this is the original post i was replying to which said sheldons reaction was what most people would do I was disputing that assertion not making it

I agree with you and was not criticizing his behavior as not being what "most people" would do  just saying it does not qualify as "normal" nor should it be classified as such

Bit more than a couple of handful episodes left Johnny!

lol at the comments of people upset thinking the show is going to end in a few more episodes.

LOL I think he diminished the amount to encourage people to come to tapings. Well 44 is little compared to 235.

Oh. Actually I don't have time to read it yet anyway. We need to start catching up with actual aired episodes.

  • I'm not sure if anyone has posted a taping report from last night's taping yet but I can provide a brief synopsis if you'd like. I'm not sure if this is the thread for that.
  • Leonard & Penny: Use a parenting book of Bernadette's to control Sheldon's behavior.
  • Howard & Amy: Start working together in Amy's lab (very long hours) Raj, Bernadette & Sheldon are lonely/ jealous.
