Judith Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 This was a great episode. Sheldon and Amy were adorable and I really like the Planetarium as a wedding location. I didn't expect so much Howardette but they were great and I'm relieved Bernie didn't give up her job, though I was hoping Howard would. SRAM Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 I thought Howard and Bernadette were cute, I really got the impression of love between them and teamwork with their handling of their children. I also thought that their both wanting to sleep at the end really seemed realistic for a couple dealing with a new born and a toddler (I think). Leonard really went above and beyond trying to get that wedding reservation for Sheldon and Amy, and who can blame him for wanting a place him and Penny could go without Sheldon following them, I also like how Penny was impressed he pulled off his deception too. I also enjoyed the scene in Bernadette’s office, where she is obviously queen, and Penny was basically ignored. This episode was entertaining to me but it seems now every time I watch an episode it just seems too short to me, it doesn’t seem to flow as well as the earlier seasons and the story seems rushed. Although I wish it had more Penny, seriously writers, give her something (besides reacting to others)! Shamy were funny, the jokes really fit in well and it didn't seem like the writers are forcefully making them the perfect couple as I felt they were doing in season 10. They were Shamy, with their graces and their faults. Really liked Leonard. He felt bad about lying although not as much and well..can't blame him too much for that. It wasn't that bad and having this place for him without Sheldon interrupting seems important. I liked how he was kind of sorry not sorry, it was funny. And Leonard being Leonard, of course he helped his friends. I really liked Penny impressed with his lie. Instead of going with the cliché sitcom wife reaction they went with a Penny reaction. This sounds trivial but that wasn't the case in seasons 8-10. Howardette were very cute and also funny. Liked that they had Penny comment in Halley growing, made it seem more realistic. Yes they exchanged shots at each other, but they did work togethet and there was this "Together we can do this!" spirit that hasn't been there in a long time. Howard said the nanny couldn’t be too pretty because she would ruin their marriage and couldn’t be too ugly otherwise she scare the baby. Jonny Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 (edited) I thought it was good, I've seen better and seen much worse this season. Its hard to explain but I have a hard time buying into or getting invested in the Howardette children storylines probably because they are invisible and my brain knows there is say no children in those cribs or no children in those prams. It's silly but I just have a hard time processing it or believing stories when I know there is nothing there, it's hard to explain. Simon and Melissa are great together, their chemistry pulls off these scenarios when they are acting towards nothing. I just think with real children in some scenes or stories it would add so much more to it. In terms of the topic of who was going to stay at home, I think the outcome was predictable. As a friend pointed out to me today and she was spot on, you remove either character from a work setting you lose far too much. For example if Howard became a stay at home dad then you lose his presence at Caltech, or say working with Amy in her lab, if Bernie stays at home you lose all those Zangen stories and interactions between Bernie and the gang at her office. So the outcome was inevitable, neither was going to give up there current setup. But if it was to happen the logical choice would be Howard to due how much money Bernie makes compared to him, I guess it's a dilemma that many couples face. Shamy were cute, the invites were very 'them'. They were both very excited about the venue, but they made the right decision in the end with Barry's demands. Better to move on and try somewhere else, glad Amy put a stop to it and made the decision clear. Some Shelnard banter and friendship in this one. Wasn't vintage Shelnard by any means but a reminder they can at times still be close. I'm interested to see if we get some more Shelnard stuff by season end with the bachelor party and wedding coming up. Solid episode I though, but nothing spectacular or super fresh. I had four kids so it is hard for me not to find those scenes relatable. Also, I'm fine with family sitcoms with dead tired parents. I remember it well. Something we haven't experienced that often. Usually, at least for me, we get some giggles and a chuckle or two. But I really laughed and it felt damn good.
