Great episode! I thought Wolcott would be played by a much older guy to show a fast forward of what Sheldon's life would be if he had chosen another path in life but I guess tptb didn't want to make it corny. The actor who played him was very good, especially when he had to be suspicious. Usually when there's a boys/girls episode I find one of the two a bit boring but in this episode I enjoyed both. I'm also glad I didn't have to see Raj spit anything, anywhere, anytime.

Those two sentences together IMO don't make sense. On their own they do. Saying the next one should give any Penny fan something to look forward to  suggests you are not a fan but your curious about the storyline?

It wasn’t bad, but I agree,  it was quite predictable. The whole “love saved Sheldon” sob story has been beaten to death indeed and I saw it coming a mile away with this never-ending  wedding plot. I didn't see the point .  I mean, the earth would not have stopped spinning had Sheldon stayed over a bit for dinner and discussed physics. Not sure why that is a bad thing anyway.

If genders were reversed and Amy was giving up a science based discussion because she missed Sheldon, it would be considered sexist that her life revolves around a man, more than her work. Plenty of successful men (and women) don’t have a wife/husband or a kid. So it did make me roll my eyes more than anything. I thought it was an average episode and I didn’t laugh much. I found it a bit cheesy and lame, but I can see why some people would gush and swoon over this stuff. 

I also thought it was weird for them to give Raj crap about mentioning the hulk . Whatever happened to the intricate geeky discussions on this show ?

Supposedly they've grown and matured. But, they still read comic books, play video games and dress up as super heroes at costume parties. Grown up and matured, ehhh I just don't see it yet. They're working on it.

Oh. That's how it was predictable.

Not the multidimensional time, not the shooting squirrel for dinner and not the crazy physicist who is not quite sure if his visitors had actually been there or if they were still coming. I had a lot of fun watching this episode and don't dwell on the "sob story".

I have heard about the "big bang" approach to software testing . Bill Prady worked as a programmer, not a  tester though.

I'd assume that the series title came about as a result of the decision to make the characters physicists and the possible double meaning of bang. There would be little fun in calling it the standard model.

There is a very early commercial for the show (that I can't find right now) where where S/L talk about the the scientific BBT and Penny suggests that maybe the creators of the show were maybe talking about the other kind of BANG.  Sheldon wants to talk to these "creators" because it is disturbing to him.

That is what one would easily assume (that's what I thought about), but maybe Prady knew about this approach and had it on his mind as well, of course I have no idea...

I was born into postwar rationing but I did not grow up depending on what my father could catch.  Nor did anyone I knew or heard of. The thought that there are people in this day and age in a western country who have to live on wild meat from need rather than choice is horrifying.

I guess there would be a lot more wild meat in some places than others. As a city dweller I like having a supermarket. My grandfather on the other hand grew up on a homestead. Free land to anyone willing to clear and work it. He raised cattle and chickens and grew vegetables. I don't know anyone that relies only on wild meat but my wife's brothers have supplemented with wild moose meat. I don't think there is much meat on a squirrel. 

I actually turned vegan (occasional backsliding) a few years ago.

I personally could not go vegan. I've been eating meat for 60 years, to late for me to change now.

I do not have a favorite couple. I don't watch for the relationships, either. I like ensemble eps best.

We will have to agree to disagree about the hunting, too. It fit Wolcott perfectly. If we don't mind him raising his own food how can we mind him hunting it?  On that note, I get why someone like Leonard wouldn't understand the tomato thing, but I'm not sure why Raj didn't. I don't think they use chemical fertilizer on all the farms in India either. Small farms here are trying to get away from that, too, and get back to basics. I work at a living history farm and we have always used the cow manure on the fields for fertilizer so I'm used to it.

I agree as well, but I see it as our favorite writers thinking it would be funny that way. It made no difference who brought up the issue with Hulk, that person would catch the grief. It was just Raj's bad luck to be chosen for the slaughter, as you will.

I my case I was motivated by joint pain. Powerful motivation and I prefer to avoid adding medication.

Well, I do have pain issues with my knees. But, the doctors tell me that's from 20 years of going up and down metal stairs while I was in the Navy. Damn those metal stairwells.

I totally agree with this.

My point about the favorite didn't pertain Particularily to you. More of a general statement. Just an observation on this forum but not all people discuss every episode and IMO that is based on what the story is about. People can do whatever but I noticed less people for example  discussing the Gates episode compared with this one.

 

As to Wolcott hunting it did fit him. I'm not sure hunting fit the episode. Though I get the reasoning was for them to leave.

There’s a saying that a person has a “shit eating grin” on their face when they’re up to something.  When Raj was eating the tomato, the doctor (or whoever he was) said he uses his own manure for fertilizer.  Leonard said Raj had a grin on his face just then.....want to guess which one?  He was meaning a shit eating grin....since the doctor uses shit for fertilizer.

It's a certain half grin and half frown. Probably half way between being happy and embarrassed. Raj was enjoying eating the tasty tomato, then learned it was planted with human waste, thus the shit eating grin.

I always thought  the title was a metaphor stating the group ante-Penny was the 'hot, dense state'  which was followed by the introduction of  a different element (Penny) that started a great change. Evolution then followed.
