1120 'The Reclusive Potential' (April 12)

Just saw this episode. I agree the Sheldon premise was pretty predictable. In that he gave up an Reclusive life for love e.t.c. But I Also thought it was a nod to the more Tradational type fans. This is an insight into the Old Sheldon. And what he valued. Its predictablity though was againgst it. Guys not wanting to talk about Hulk too. I mean i know they hav matured. But Geek Culture still cultivates their friendships. Would still like the show to maintain that aspect. I thought the actor casted as Wolcott. Was very good. Played it really well. Sheldon kinda feels like the big baby of the group. Way Amy was like to Leonard "Your not letting him go their alone".

I Thought the girls plot was good too. Amy was good again. I like it when she is a bit more humanized. And gets out of her comfort zone. Both girl and boys plot were solid tbh. Another good episode.

Absolutely loved this episode.

Two excellent plots, superbly written and acted.

Happy you enjoyed it, I watched it again when they air on the the UK (I always do) and it's still an excellent episode :)

I don't think that was really what was going on in that scene or the impression I got. Sheldon was going to a remote cabin probably in the middle of nowhere to meet a very eccentric Dr who is cut off from the world to a large degree. I think if say Howard or Leonard were the ones who were invited by someone that would have helped their work their partners would have had the exact same sort of reaction, fear of a loved one going to some strangers place alone in the middle of nowhere cut off from the world. Amy was just playing the concerned partner role that most would in that situation.

Fair enough, just the impression I got. I meant the group seem protective of him.

I don't think so, I believe Penny and Bernie would have smiled and said have a nice time. The big difference is Howard and Leonard can drive and can leave when they want to, besides they aren't the flight risk that Sheldon has been alledged to be.

So can Sheldon.

Legally, not any more. Since He turned in his Drivers License to the officer who gave him that speeding ticket and probably reckless driving ticket as well. Wondering how much those fines were? Probably a pretty sizable amount. Probably had to cash one of those checks from his desk drawer. Also, I don't think he owns a car. After those tickets, I doubt anyone will let him drive their car!

We don't know he lost his licence, just as we don't know Leonard lost his, at the end of The Love Car Displacement.

You didn't watch that episode? He told the officer that he could keep his license because he didn't want. Or it was didn't need it. I don't which one, but, Sheldon voluntarily turned over his license period. No license, no legal driving. No Leonard did not lose his license as he is still driving.

Not sure how it works in the States, but since it was not revoked or expired, couldn't he simply request a replacement?

The police officer cannot keep the licence.

Only the court can take a licence, after finding the defendant guilty, or the defendant pleading guilty.

If you wish to surrender your licence, you surrender it to the DMV, not the police, and, in the absence of a court/medical ordered disqualification, you can always obtain a replacement for a lost/stolen/surrendered licence.

Also, we didn't actually see the police officer retain the licence. He may have returned it to Sheldon, on the grounds Sheldon was joking.

I have no idea, but, the state doesn't have to  replace it. It depends on the state.

It still doesn't matter, after finding out about that adventure, nobody but maybe Amy will ever let him drive again. They will find out because Howard can't keep embarrassing news about Sheldon to himself.

He could rent a car.

More power to him. I wish he would. Or better yet buy his own car, that way Leonard, Penny,Howard, Amy or Raj don't have to waste their time driving him places like the crying baby he is.

-We only saw that diligent mailman to set up Amy's line later on.

-I know Sheldon's not the bachelor party type, but they still could've made a better guy quest and saved this cabin journey for elsewhere. Did Sheldon even leave from that with any String Theory progress? At least let some of Wolcott's work affect Sheldon's career? Edit: Actually judging by 11.24 developments this was intentional but still is a little ham-fisted with the message of "everything will become clear scientifically as long as you're glued to Amy".

-Couldn't even book a place for the quilting/tea? Amy seemed really dumb for believing them at the end. This version of Amy still desperate to be something she's not feels like a regression. At least don't have her character arc for the episode end in delusion while her husband gets enlightenment.

-Raj is the last symbol of their old lives.

-The recluse was a very predictable stereotype, and as such you could predict just about every line from him. Sheldon's realization would've had more depth if the character instigating it had a moment to show some of his own.

-"I'm the only man you do that for". Damn right.

-Not sure why the bachelor stuff would be a full month ahead of the event.

Most definitely. Probably will remain that way until he grows up and learns how to treat women. Or the writers allow him to be happy with a significant other. :icon_cheesygrin:
