Never aired episode?

I stumbled on a pilot episode that was never aired. There was a girl named Kathy instead of Penny and the female scientist was played by another actor. They were living in a different apartment and there were no sign of Raj or Howard.

I'm glad they didn't choose this one because it is not as good as the final series at all, much more rough and not at all so subtle and sweet as the one we are used to watch!

Has anyone seen it? What did you think?

I have seen it: I am really happy that they went with Penny, and that they made both Leonard and Sheldon outfits and flat geekier.

I am happy about them adding Raj and Wolowitz, too.

I wish they kept the geeky female friend, though. As a female geek, it is way easier for me to relate to a character like that, instead of Leslie Winkle, which is a grat character, but really, really unique (not someone you'd think "she's just like me!").

In the extras of the DVD set for the 1st season, Chuck Lorre and Bill Pardy mention making two pilots for two different ideas, that they then merged together. One of the two was this much darker series with Kathy.

They also said that Kaley tried to get the part, but was turned down because her personality was way too bright for Kathy.

In the end, they liked the innocent, sunny and sweet Penny and I am really happy about this.

If they decided to have the geeky girl as a guest character, I would be really happy. I liked her so much!

Hi I've seen it did not like it one bit if you think Penny is a bad drunk Kathy was 10 time's as bad the one very good bit was that Sheldon and Leonard's geeky female friend as a thing for Leonard at one point she say's " Leonard I think you should know Sheldon and I have had sex" I almost fell on the floor when she said that........I've not put a spoiler alert at the start as it is a very old episode........

It's not just an old episode, it's essentially an episode of a different sitcom. So yes, in that show reality Sheldon and Gilda had sex at a Star Trek convention. In our Big Bang Theory show reality, there is no Gilda and there was no sex.

I think I already had this version downloaded a year or two ago, but I don't think I watched it because it wasn't the proper copy. I thought it was really fascinating to watch. But I kept on referencing back to the original. When it was said that Sheldon had infact had sex with Gilda, I was totally flabbergasted! But during the episode there were a lot of sexual references for Sheldon, like he's an 'ass man'. Where as in the Big Bang we know, Sheldon is oblivious to women as sexual beings, atleast for himself. It's good to see what the writers starting bases were for the characters and the show, but it is brilliant to see how far they've come in developing the characters, and making the show what it is today, what we love! And it wouldn't be The Big Bang Theory without Howard and Raj, they're the perfect addition to tie a little bow on top.

aha.. There's my unnecessarily detailed and long, two cents. :)

Considering the videos are no longer available, and that everybody's talking about that Gilda character (and now I just need to know what she's like), can I get a link to the unaired episode too? Please, please, please :)

I really like Gilda, I wish she was still in the show.

Here's what she looks like, click the image to see the clip...

The wikipedia article is actually informative ...

I assume you're talking about the page I mentioned above. That's not from Wikipedia, it's from the wiki here on our own site. As far I as know, Wikipedia doesn't have anything about the unseen episode yet.

Wow, this Gilda character is so manly, maybe a bit too much? Well, considering the end of the third season, I guess that "Gilda" will return in a slightly changed form of that Amy Farrow (or what's her name) character. At least I hope so, because an idea of a nerdy female character for Sheldon really is interesting (and I hope she will not fall for Leonard like Gilda apparently did :)).

I don't think there are any links to it on a web site.

However, I saw that it did get posted to Usenet in alt.binaries.tv yesterday, if anyone here remembers Usenet that's where it is right now...
