Just watched this episode and WOW.

I rarely, if ever, give an episode an "Excellent" vote, but I did this time, and would've given it an "Excellent +", if it were available.

There was nothing in this episode that I didn't love, and I especially loved the "Thank you Daddy". :giveheart:

I'm glad that you can say that and that you enjoyed the episode. Sorry,I can't say that.

I thought Amy's parents were the high point of this ep - only a few seconds, but verbal and non-verbal acting perfect. Less is more.

So are Missy and Raj going to pick it up where they were when Raj's experimental social confidence drug wore off? The scene in the car with Raj driving was well done, IMO. I always liked Missy.

I could see Sheldon getting upset the way he was when he envisioned becoming Leonard's stepbrother. Imagine how he'd react to the idea of Raj as the stepfather of his nephew and niece !

Sheldon will have a tizzy when he learns of Raj possibly hooking up with Missy. He can't help finding out as Raj can't keep a secret anymore than Sheldon.

I don't think Raj has a hope with Missy.

Oh no, another hopeless Raj episode. Missy would have been an interesting addition to him.

Raj is well known for his hopeless flings.

Raj and Sheldon as brothers-in law would be amusing.

It'd never make it that far. Raj will find a way to screw up a relationship with Missy as he has his other relationships. You are so right, if it made it that far it would be amusing and entertaining.

Remember this?

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. It was funny. I'd forgotten those noises Raj made when he couldn't talk to women.

At the start of the episode Penny is wearing a black top with grey sleeves and cream cuffs. Does anybody know what this top is, or where it can be bought?

-8 years, 1 week of Shamy. But maybe more interesting is how episode 255 is the end of a 100 EPISODE LONG ARC. That's right, in episode 156 "The Anything Can Happen Recurrence", the idea of Sheldon needing to commit to Amy in order to have success in his career is predicted by a psychic. It shows a level of planning I can applaud. Fundamentally, I only have one problem with this circumstance. Super Asymmetry doesn't sound like real science at all, it just sounds like a snappy name they forcibly try to make into a metaphor for Sheldon's life. Weirdly, a little too perfect in how that presents itself.

-They used the S10 Lenny wedding as a sex punchline with the parents, so I can see Season 12 opening with Raj and Missy in bed together.

-Wil Wheaton getting that hit in his pride was Sheldon's best wedding present, even if he didn't witness the full extent of it.

-I do like that one miracle begot another @ Stuart just needing the one date to lock down Denise' admiration.

-Damn, Amy's mom was such a relentlessly bitter villain. The religious hijacking attempt was still the worse mother move, though.

-Like Mark, I was to surprised by how all out the vows went with sweetness. One of the most intimate and serious few minutes in show's run. ;(

-Imperfection, quirks, etc. will always catch my heartfelt attention in a person. I like what this sitcom espouses sometimes, Imperfection takes on a different meaning for TV though. Wrap things up in a little neat bowtie next year before the bow falls on the ground instead of just being crooked. :)

Funny something has been said about that:

Let's talk about Amy and Sheldon's "super asymmetry" discovery.

Early on this season, knowing we were building to the wedding, I had this thought about Sheldon's breakthrough. I called our science consultant Dr. David Saltzberg and said that we wanted to have Sheldon to have a big breakthrough at the end of the season, something that could eventually be maybe be prize-winning or game-changing — and it had to feel like something real that no one has discovered before.

We've been laying in Sheldon's work on string theory and Saltzberg was tying it into one of Stephen Hawking's theories posing if any information can escape a black hole, creating an information paradox regarding black holes. And he thought those two things could tie together. Saltzberg said super symmetry is an actual thing but no one has ever talked about super asymmetry. There are no papers that mention it, which is a line that we put in the script for Leonard. David was on set during the finale taping and wrote all the equations on the mirror to make sure the science was right.

Is that an actual discovery or is this all made up for TV?

It's all theoretical. Conceptually, it is an interesting theory that no one has talked about before. Now does that mean it's a true theory? That's probably hard to say.

Hmmm... It was...good I'd say, but I found it too corney/sacharrine and that damaged my overall enjoyment. There have been funny moments (my biggest LOL was Sheldon's reaction to Hamill, wonderful job by Jim there!) but they were just asides... Overall it felt to me kind of like a Shamy fanfic, and not in the good way.

Amy's mom wasn't that big a hoot IMO. She was as expected. Her dad's hanging joke was the best Fowlers moment to me.

There have been many corny moments... I'm including Penny's reprimend of Amy's mother... Sheldon loves Amy and would never hurt her... What is this, a Disney movie? They could have her say something much more Penny and funny at that. Her shutting Mary was funnier IMO, Mary does have a tendency to gloat at a "rival's" defeat.

The vows... too much for me. I watced with my mom and she found it very OOC. I definitely agree on Sheldon, I expected some clever science/sci-fi metaphors, the speechless thing suited Leonard (10×01) but doesn't suit Sheldon at all. Amy's I could love with because they did get some jokes there and mainly because Mayim just played it beautifully.

Overall it reminded me of the 200th (Sheldon's birthday party), all bow to the Golden Boy/Couple and hell with keeping thing IC and also in the series' general tone. Now that the golden wedding is over I hope we get something better in season 12.

Very strongly agree - but then most of this season has been like a low-quality Shamy fanfic. Every week S would say some utterly unbelievable lovey stuff so that it was embarrassing to watch such a fine actor as JP having to mouth such dreck, and A would simper charmlessly. And like pig-headed First World War generals the programme-makers would order the same tactics the next week. Please let the wedding be their last big push (I know, the triumph of hope over experience).

Compare the writing and acting of P & L's wedding, and it's unbelievable how far the standard has fallen. And that goes for A & S themselves. As you pointed out, "real" Sheldon's vows would have been some analogy with string theory or similar that nobody would understand; and "real" Amy would have described her feelings for Sheldon in terms of brain chemistry. That would have been not only funnier, but also cleaner than the putrid slush Shamy scenes have become.

One point I have to disagree with: it wasn't like the 200th - the rot hadn't set in then. Penny was rightly front and centre in that ep, and Sheldon's vulnerability was emphasised.

Personally I was thinking that aliens abducted the real Sheldon and exchanged him for a more improved double that could be a nice catch for Amy. I feel that they exchanged her a couple of years ago. The aliens were sort of correcting their mistakes. They forgot Mama Fowler though. Of course Papa Fowler's remark was the best. That's Teller for Christ's sake. He never talks! 😂

  • 4 months later...

I just recently rewatched the whole of The Big Bang Theory for the 4th time I think now, and it still baffles me how Mayim Bialik manages to hold it together in the marriage scene, especially when if you have seen her video on Instagram after meeting Mark Hamill and since we have been told by her previously that she is a huge geek/nerd and loves Star Wars... My reaction would be the exact same as Howard's. It just really makes you realise how much of an amazing actress she is.
