Lenny Wish List

Regarding Lenny babies. We already know that Leonard and Penny want to have kids. So, the question is not if they want to have kids, but when they will start to have them...

So one wish for season 12 on my list: Let Leonard and Penny have serious talks about kids, that build upon the examples I gave above.

I think it's past time for those serious discussions. Hopefully Holland and the writers will get their heads out of their rears and let the discussions begin.

Well now, the majority of my Lenny wishes have come to pass. Some are:

1. They have finally gotten away from that god awful island bar.

2.  They are living together in 4A without that obnoxious, egotistical, ungrateful ass of a former roommate.

3. Not arguing or making snide remarks as much as before and generally appear to be happy with each other.

Some that need to happen:

1. Still need those Smart and Beautiful babies, so that they are not imaginary.

2.  Leonard attaining the tenure position and Beverly accepting the call from him when he calls to tell her.

That is enough for now. Maybe more to come.

From time to time Penny appears discontented, hates her job, etc., but then it's just dropped. I want to see Leonard take this seriously and do whatever it takes to make her happy. One thing I'd like to see is L arranging unexpected but well thought out treats for Penny, eg a trip to a major rodeo, learn to ride a horse and they go pony-trekking.

How about next time P says she hates her job L instead of being "sensible" encourages her to quit it even tho' they're not financially secure; and only after that does L get tenure/become a full professor.

and come to think of it, I wouldn't mind seeing some Lenny bedroom scenes (remember those?).

I think the problem is Penny (the writers) hadn't found a job she would enjoy. If she does I think Leonard would support her even if it pays very low. If she quits before thinking what she wants to do she may just be bored out of her mind.

I totally agree, Leonard would support her with whatever she wanted to try. All season 11 long the writers had tunnel vision placed on the Shamy wedding. Everything else was placed on the back burner. Hopefully she will get the PR position and she can be happy there. Less money but maybe more personal fulfillment!

One more thing that I wish for is less Beverly and more Alfred!

Who said the PR job is less money though?

Sorry, it should have read even if it's less money.

I have re-read some of the comments and suggestions made after season 11. It seems the writers ignored this wish list for Lenny in season 12 and wrote Shamy as the central characters again in their quest for the Nobel prize.  This was why I was hoping for a Lenny spin-off show because as you can see there are many stories yet to tell for them. It was sad indeed to see that these storylines did not make it on-screen and to have Penny announce she is pregnant in the final episode was an appeasement to all Lenny fans who watched and supported this show for 12 years. So the ending for me was both good and melancholy.  Maybe if there is enough support for a possible reunion show or even a re-boot (not likely) in the future some of these wishes will materialize.

Season's 11 and 12 were all about Shamy. Add most of ten as well. The writers threw a few bread crumbs to the remaining cast members. Well, I guess if the producers were ok with paying Kaley and Johnny a million dollars an episode for two minutes of air time, then they were probably ok with it as well. For me, I recorded each Season 11 and 12 episode and fast forwarded a lot. I found many of those episodes boring. I'm sure many people enjoyed them. My enjoyment was in bits and pieces. I enjoyed Kathy Bates, Teller.

Yes  It is so true that season 11 the majority of episodes were for Shamy wedding plans.  Holy crap on a cracker they even had an episode about picking a wedding date for crying out loud. What a waste of time.  Season 12 was really no better as it centered mostly on Shamy quest for the Nobel prize. Lenny it seemed were relegated to secondary status. A shame that tptb did not see this at all.

Could you set up also a direct line to the writers' room?
(For all of us members only, of course.)  :)

Even if the direct line happened, the writers would just ignore he suggestions or just not acknowledge the line. They were too fixed on "Shamy" and their Nobel, they didn't care about the other cast members. They were just window dressing for Shamy in "The Shamy Show".

Sad, but true. I saw the writing on the wall early Season 10. It was cute Shamy and Lenny had mostly spats and those snide remarks from Penny toward Leonard. In the earlier seasons, those snide remarks were directed at Sheldon, Howard and Raj. To be honest, I thought the writers would give the tenure position to Sheldon as well.

Really, I thought they might have given the tenure position to Penny after they took a  look at what she was wearing.  But I didn't give much thought to the tenure position after that episode as it was never brought up again.

You say season 10 was an omen to the change in central storylines and I have to agree to some extent. I recall an interview with Johnny and Kaley before season 11. They were asked what the viewers can expect in the coming season and it seemed to me that they were very indifferent with their answers. Instead of their usual excitement for the new season they seemed to be reticent about their characters plotlines and resigned to the fact that Shamy might be the center of many episodes. I know you said that they were getting paid handsomely  so it didn't matter but I think actors want to have some pride in their work and also as a resume for future jobs.

Total sarcasm. I guess sometimes people don't get my sarcastic rants. For the record, I agree with your post. It just upsets me to think of all the talent that was waste, as well as, the plotlines that were omitted due to the fixation of Shamy's ridiculous quest for the Nobel.

If season 12 really is going to be the last season, what would you like to see from Lenny that we haven’t seen yet (or in Lenny’s case, again).  I’ll edit this to keep adding to the list so we can see one big list....

More physical affection (hugging, kissing, etc.) like they used to

Their outings that they’ve done off screen instead of hearing about it.

Advance in their careers

Mutually supporting each other (careers, against Sheldon’s antics, etc.)

More scenes in the bedroom (not necessarily in a dirty way, writers, but if you want to I don’t think you’d hear any complaints....)

Leonard putting Beverly in her place.

Penny taking Leonard’s side over Sheldon’s from now on.

Nebraska road trip

Award / achievements in their careers

Leonard gaining higher self esteem

Penny shows interest in Leonard’s work and helps him with a work related dilemma

More in-sync Lenny dynamic

Able to see more of the family including ones not seen yet (Penny’s sister, Leonard’s siblings)

Enough with the “Penny settled” (NOT true and not funny) or “Nerd got the hot chick” jokes.   Penny marrying the genius arc instead.

Having fun together.  Just the two of them.  With no one else around.  Especially Sheldon.

Do something with Penny’s career and stick with it instead of dropping it and not mentioning it again.

Family planning!  Seriously talking about it, planning it, a pregnancy scare (and disappointment if it’s really negative), anything.  Just something!

A pregnancy arc were Penny’s pregnancy is the opposite of Bernie’s

Leonard getting ahead in his department or promotion of some kind

Penny succeeding in something.  Work or hobby related

A visit from Randall with Leonard getting along with him and helping him

Leonard arranges a surprise birthday party for Penny

Lenny find a hobby they both enjoy doing together

Penny wearing her locket a lot more

One more shot of the snowflake gift Leonard made for her in the Artic

More Lenny alone time (watching TV, having dinner together, etc.)

Embrace their different interests rathe than fight and criticize it

Leonard jumping Sheldon’s s shit for throwing out one of those stupid slut jokes (How many YEARS has she been faithfully married now?)

Seeing them do or say something to make the other laugh (but not in a mean way)

Serious talks about having a family

A bit more balance in the couples stories (a bit less of Shamy and a bit more of Lenny).....(as a Shamy shipper that hurt a little but I do agree it needs to be more balanced)

It is so great! Thank you for your thoughts!

You have made a complete list of wishes. All these months and I haven't come with anything to add. I just wish the writers didn't waste the whole Season 12 on Shamy's Nobel quest. The show, went out not with a bang, but a whimper. Of course, that's only my opinion.

To say season 12 was a disappointment would be quite an understatement. In saying that, it contains my favourite Lenny moment ever, their beautiful hug in 12*15.

To me, it was the perfect answer to the bullshit question " how are these two together" etc. What we got to see in that moment was true unconditional  love ( despite what the haters or a certain deluded crowd of fans think).

Man , i wish i had found this forum sooner, i would have been able to share my passion for Lenny

I do agree, but there was too much wasted air time on the Shamy's Nobel run. Maybe because I'm a Lenny, I feel way too much time was wasted on the Shamy wedding planning. The other two weddings didn't include a whole season dedicated to their weddings. Lenny got two weddings and in both cases Sheldon hogged in either the wedding itself or caused problems for the gang trying t watch the first wedding from Las Vegas. It still upsets me that the writers ensured Sheldon got to interfere with Lenny's weddings, but the worst part of Shamy's was Kripke's singing at the end.

oh i'm just as pissed off as you are , trust me!!! Lenny deserved so much more than the crap they were given!! I did like the Vegas wedding but i really wished we had seen their first kiss as husband and wife. It was too much to ask apparently. 😡

That is exactly what I saw when they hugged in that scene.  The moment when Penny realized how much being a father meant to Leonard and hugged him to show how much she really loved him and his response showing his unparalleled love for her. And it is true the moment showed their unconditional and selfless love for each other. I really thought they would expand this scene and talk about actually having a baby. That was my disappointment in season 12.

Yes  The argument going to Las Vegas in their first wedding was totally unnecessary. They had a cliffhanger with Shamy and didn't need one with Lenny. The only ones who sabotaged the wedding were the writers

They should have explored Penny's insecurities , her fears of not being a good mum , the Pop-Tart would have found the rights words to reassure her ( " hold your hand and do it with you " kind of thing). And i'm sorry but was it too much ask to see on screen the moment Lenny found out they were expecting or Penny teliing Leonard the news ?? I can picture them being two bluberring messes 😆😆 So many wasted opportunities. But hey, they have their smart and beautiful baby and i'm sure they are wonderful parents .

Indeed there was enough drama with Shamy, no need for Lenny drama on top of it. oh man, that scene in the car and the hurt on Penny's face 😭😭 i wanted to hug her and slap the Pop-Tart big time. Compared to her joy in the apartment when she makes the call to elope to Vegas ( and the moment before she joins him on the couch , she's sitting in his armchair , she  looks at him, he's upset , she smiles , omg , so beautiful ) . I thought Kaley was phenomenal in that episode

The writers, in my opinion, were trying to take the sting of Shamy breaking up by giving angst to Lenny. They couldn't let them be happy and enjoy their wedding.

Even with the focus on the Nobel quest nonsense , we could have had our beloved Lenny discussing babies at the kitchen island once in a while , i would have been totally okay with that.
