Most of the time the weather doesn't seem to know its arse from its elbow; one minute it's sunny, next, in a split-second, it's throwing rain down. Then it's sunny again, and, well...

Agreed. The weather is a fickle presence. It can be both boring and exciting. 😊

Well,  good morning from the chilly city of Milton, FL. Yesterday it was in the upper 70's and this morning it's 39 degrees. Go figure. But, then again, it was 39 yesterday morning as well. Guess I can't complain here while the Midwest and Northeast are getting snow. Hopefully everyone has a nice day. 😊

It's getting hotter on this side of the pond! I'm in the North of France so the weather is relatively okay but Southern Europe is experiencing extremely high temperatures, don't think it's as bad as it is in some US regions yet though. Stay safe guys!

Yep! It is definitely hot in middle Georgia. People and plants are having a hard time.

I know it's Summer in Florida and it's supposed to be hot, but this is ridiculously hot. Thank goodness the Hurricanes aren't hitting us.

My daughter is in London for a conference.  She doesn't want to come back to Florida.  However, she did spend two days in Trieste, so she did get a taste of the heat in the Mediterranean area.

Yeah, El Nino will generate some heat, but it also disrupts the Atlantic Hurricanes, so there is some positives to the heat.

Well, there are reports that we are going through a "greenhouse effect" and higher temperatures will bring stronger storms, heatwaves and droughts.  In the Phoenix area they had a record with 19 days of temperatures at 110 degrees or higher. This is certainly a gloomy omen.

Yeah, there are some positives. But man it's hot. I mean going from the shade to sunshine is like walking into an oven. More than likely it's the humidity. 😊

While that's generally true, (for instance, besides the general warming,  the extra heat, in winter,  can bend the jet stream which can send the heat into the arctic areas and cold to relatively lower latitudes) El Nino interrupts the air patterns in the tropical latitudes causing more rain around western central and south America.  As far as Florida goes, a blocking high builds east of Florida, along with more wind shear.  This causes fewer and weaker storms for Florida, during the El Nino.   For example, today's weather pattern has a high sitting over Florida that will move west a bit on Tuesday, a normal pattern for El Nino.  Either of those conditions steer a Hurricane around Florida,

Now, this is in general during an El Nino.  There will be times when the high moves north or south and/or the wind shear weakens.  When that happens, strong storms can hit Florida.  Strong storms elsewhere are actually more likely because of the higher water temperature.

I guess we have to root for El Nino this hurricane season!

Well said. 😊

Agreed. I can take the heat, as long as the Hurricane threat is reduced. We'll have to wait and see on that picture. 😊

Good luck Tensor. Knowing you as a seasoned Hurricane veteran, I know you are already prepared for this most assuredly Hurricane on it's way.

Latest update shows Idalia making landfall just north of Tampa so stay safe Tensor and be well

As usual for me,  when a storm threatens the coast of of any state, I have the Weather Channel on to keep up on the developments of the storm.

Well, here in Milton, FL,  we got a couple hours of light rain on Monday. Had nothing to do with Idalia. The Big Bend region and the West Coast of Florida is catching the brunt of the storm. Watching the Weather Channel for updates.

Don't know if any members are in the path of the storm but good wishes for all. Some rain bands and light winds here in central Georgia but nothing dangerous. Truth is we're happy to get the rain.

Here in Milton, FL, we'd like some rain too. Got little bit on Monday, but not enough to make mud. But we can do without the wind.😂

We had rain and wind (my daughter mentioned someone who said, it was nothing, just rain with a name), but nothing really serious for us here, just south of Tampa.  My neighbor (who is not here, they're snowbirds) had a window blow out of their lanai.  I'm talking the frame coming out (their lanai was built in the 1960s) and while not rotted, the wood around the frame needs to be replaced.   In between rain bands, I went out and put the frame back in, then screwed in some plywood over the window, to keep the rain out.  I called to let him know and he mentioned making a trip down here next month.
