Michael's winds are so strong, that it's forcing a river to flow in the opposite direction. That is a strong hurricane!

So, we were very fortunate indeed. My thoughts and prayers to the folks in Panama City, Mexico Beach and farther East, as well as the folks in Georgia, North and South Carolina as they bear the brunt of Hurricane Michael! Die Zimtzicke Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Monday in NW Indiana we got 8 inches of snow. Today it's -20 (Fahrenheit for friends elsewhere) with wind chill ranging from -30 to -55. In nearby Chicago they have closed schools, The Field Museum, Navy Pier, The Art Institute, The Museum of Science and Industry, Adler Planetarium, both Lincoln Park and Brookfield Zoos, all Amtrak and South Shore trains and the Hamilton show, among other things. Chrismo Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 (edited) NW suburban Chicago right now is -15F. No school Monday, Wednesday, Thursday this week. The school plays Thursday and Friday night and Saturday matinee. She has a part. Thursday doesn't look good for performance. James and the Giant Peach is the show. She's in High School Edited January 30, 2019 by Chrismo

vonmar Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 Another frigid day again in the Chicago area tomorrow. Bundled up in two pairs of socks, sweatpants, two shirts and a full length terry cloth bathrobe. Schools are still closed, no mail delivery and we have to run all the inside faucets at a constant trickle so that the pipes don't freeze. But we have a motto here, if you don't like the weather, wait a minute..it'll change. We'll be nearing 50 degrees by the end of the weekend. Some of them waited for their tickets for a year. The people at the theater aren't sure what they are going to do for them.

It was a coool 39 last night. The folks up North and the Mid West are still having a lot of staggering cold weather being thrown at 'em. Good luck and stay warm. It's suppose to get warmer up there soon.

Die Zimtzicke Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Having watched the way the weather is changing I think the Midwest is definitely off a month. We got in April what we used to get in March, we got in May what we used to get in April, and so on. October will probably be what we used to get in August and farmers will be harvesting in November at the rate they are going. Very weird. It's headed for the West of New Orleans. The farther West, the better for us.
