What the heck! I feel cheated out of rain. Now I have to water the ol' lady's plants if we don't get any rain tomorrow.

I watered mine yesterday so of course we had a short microburst at night but not enough to drown them.

I haven't had to water the plants for three days due to the rain. Now Louisiana is getting all that rain and we aren't getting our share. It's not fair.   ☺️

True, so true. I still want my portion of the rain though for the grass and plants. Somehow I feel cheated. LOL I guess I won't be saying this when a TS or Hurricane heads this way.

We had a tornado hit the next down over a couple of weeks ago. It's very unusual for this area. Instead of going to the basement we stood on the deck and watched it.

As a veteran of countless tornadoes and hurricanes, that's a mistake. You're told to take shelter for a reason, tornadoes can be unpredictable and can change directions easily.

Like I said, it's very unusual for us here in NW Indiana. Everyone has the idea that Chicago and Lake Michigan cuts down on them. This is the closest one I've seen in all 64 years of my life. I never heard a siren at all. If I had, I might have taken it more seriously. We were grilling and just saw it across the fields from our deck. It was in Dyer, Indiana.

It's a different down South or  in tornado alley. But then again I've seen dumb people taking videos of tornadoes as they are approaching them. That's idiotic!

Lightning struck a building at a school that I worked at for 12 years.  The sad thing is it destroyed one of the original buildings... over 100 years old.  Hoping the link to the pics work.

So sad! The building can be rebuilt, but it won't be the same.

You're so right @chucky.  Here's some more pics.  1st is of flames shooting out of the roof.  2nd and 3rd are of a teacher's classroom downstairs.  4th is/was the Testing Room (also downstairs) where all the exams and records for State Testing are/ were kept.  I spent many many hours in that room.
I have heard that due to concerns about stability, it will be torn down.  The 7th grade team that was based in that building is being moved to another part of campus and is considering renaming themselves The Phoenixes.

Yes. It’s a very broad threat at the moment. Awful.

 Stay safe.

I'm ready.   Food, and water were part of our readiness kit we put together in May.  Gas for the generator and car, cash in case there is no electric for purchases.  Carlos is in Miami, Kathy is near where it's supposed to come on shore.  Mario is ready, and Kasey (although she hasn't been on in a while) is north of Tampa.  The safest one seems to be chucky, out there on the western end of the state.

Did I miss anyone?

Even though we are only scheduled for mostly rain and some wind, we are prepared for a full head on strike. I take no hurricane threat lightly. They are basically unpredictable concerning their path. As the guy on The Weather Channel said, hurricanes tend to wobble in their path. A wobble in the wrong direction can change everything.

I am hoping hard everyone from here escapes the worst of it. I have a friend who JUST moved to Florida, like literally two weeks ago and she is puzzled about how to behave. At present she is preparing as if it were a blizzard in her former Midwestern home. She is closer to Orlando, though.

We're East of Tampa, and we're good.  Hubby's Storm Shield worked again (he's home for his birthday, which was Labor Day).  Got a day off of school out of it.
Not liking all those other things brewing in the Gulf and Atlantic, though...

Well, we in Pensacola are on the supposedly weak side of the storm. We're expecting 3-5 inches of rain and some wind. But with Tropical Storms you need to keep eye on the Weather Channel for updates.
