The first time he kissed her. Amy has kissed him before and while I think he didn't hate it ("Fascinating.") it was still early so I think this one really stirred a feeling in him.

Italics : I don't get why she was complaining. She'd arranged everything so he'd be comfortable with the trip but hadn't said she wanted romance. Also, he sounded angry when he said she'd misled him by promising something they'd both enjoy. Why did he say that, considering he was thoroughly enjoying himself ?

But that was the point: He was enjoying himself and Amy was complaining, hence why he called her out. If Amy wanted romance she should have said so and not try to trick him with a trip that she thought would suddenly turn him into some sort of train-Casanova. The two characters want different things and that's the conflict of the story - it gets resolved with the kiss and they both get what they wanted.

Was it the first time he'd kissed anyone as an adult?

Aha ! I didn't see that. Now it makes sense. Thank you. ! I get it at last. I didn't see the trick behind  Amy's arrangements. Sheldon realised he'd been  manipulated  - but I didn't - when she was complaining. No wonder he was annoyed.

I wouldn't say "manipulated". She wanted to make him more comfortable when going with her on a supposedly romantic evening, a sort of a compromise. It wasn't meant to be an activity made just for Sheldon. Sheldon apparently did not get that nuance and did not think he had to act in a way that will satisfy Amy, and so when he realized she had certain expectations he accused her of trying to trick him.

Let's all say a prayer for Amy, hoping that Sheldon doesn't need to take a shower after holding his own children. Because that's going to be expensive in the long run 🙈

And highly impractical!

Yeah, the idea was that he would love the train trip so much he'd shower her with love in return or something. Heck, Amy probably would have been fine with everything if it weren't for Eric and Sheldon subsequently completely ignoring her.

See, your last paragraph is why I feel "manipulation" is too strong for this. Sure it says so in the title by this can be from a Sheldon-centric view, and besides, the titles are don't always fit the episode so well since they're mostly trying to make them "sciency". By Amy's expectations I mean she expected that he won't ignore her and won't complain all night and perhaps thank her and compliment her on her choice of activity. Most people would meet those expectations but Sheldon needed an extra help there to understand what is expected and what is inappropriate in that context.

Well, that's a bit "potato - potahto" for me. I don't necessarily think of "manipulation" of a strong word per se cause it really depends on the context and manipulations can come in many forms and different levels of severity. This one is pretty harmless, all things considered so I wouldn't want to imply anything particularly terrible here.

I agree that she was trying to find something to do that they could both enjoy.

YES! That pushed her over the edge. If he could just have been happy being on that adventure with her she would have been okay. She didn't ask him to kiss her. She just wanted the two of them to be together. Gong farther would have pleased her but I don't think she was betting on it.

A small but cute moment for me was when sheldon quietly closed the door so not to wake the clearly still sleeping amy. Little domestic touches like that are everything. And we know they did it three weeks ago which was in January so its official no more just on Amy's birthday.

This ep proves that Amy is not Sheldon's doormat. When they talked to Leonard, I thought everyone did a great job.

The Big Bang Theory‘s Sheldon and Amy

Yes, Amy had drunkenly kissed Sheldon back in Season 4. But the couple’s first real kiss came aboard a train to Wine Country in Season 7. Even better, it was Sheldon who initiated it — and he liked it! It came as a total shock to Sheldon, Amy and the studio audience.

Happy Valentines Day to all you Shamys! (thats our red lock under theirs in Napa 😬).

Anyone making a taping next month? I’m trying to decide if I want to take in one last show before it ends.

Hi! Why is no one here talking about "The Conference Valuation"? We have some Shamy's babies conversation! I can't wait to watch that episode!

Maybe the writers are bringing this subject again because at the end of the season, Amy will be pregnant... What do you think?

I seem to remember it's because we were confused by the suggestion Amy had somehow needed to trick or manipulate Sheldon into thinking about children when we know they've always talked about having them. Trying to make sense of it, we wondered whether Amy might be getting Sheldon to consider the reality of children at the baby stage because she thinks he might have too abstract an idea of his future homos novi.*

According to the taping reports there was a scene with Beverly yet to be taped, so I'm thinking perhaps it's discussed with her and we'll understand after the conversation.?

Pregnancy/ies  would be a reason for them all to be moving house towards the end or at the end of the series. Mayim has joked that it might end with all the women pregnant.

*Feel free to correct my Latin spelling. I have a cold and have lost the ability to write plurals.

Then she has forgotten Howard had a vasectomy, not like the writers don't forget major plot points, either.

I would love a last episode announcement of that...I am excited to Sheldon interact with kids, especially little ones for sure...
