Do you guys think we get to see Amy interact with Meemaw again?  I didn't really like the one they showed us on TBBT, I would prefer Annie Potts with make up from YS.

The meemaw episode was a bit of mess and I fear this kinda ruined any chances of getting a proper nice meemaw story. Like, I'm not even blaming June Squibb cause there's not much she could have done with the material but I think a lot of people feel she was miscast and obviously Annie Potts is now seen as the superior meemaw anyway. And TPTB might feel the same way cause they got Annie to record a message for the wedding and not June. But TBBT-only viewers might be confused by an actress change so Idk. I guess they could have her on the phone and not show her so they'd have best of both worlds?

It wasn't a bad casting, just a storyline devised and acted in a way so that you weren't really meant to 'like' Meemaw.  They focused on her being overprotective of her grandson with of course a natural 'blood is thicker than water' bias to things and what side she takes.  She had to be abrasive with Amy to make the shock of her finding about the ring all that more dramatic.

Honestly I am not eager to see her come back, but I guess with the other show on the air you cannot rule it out.

I agree but I think they could get around it by having Annie come on, looking older of course, and having Amy say something to the affect of “Your much nicer than the nightmare version I had of you a few years ago where you hated me for breaking up with your grandson and finding out my best friend knew he had an engagement ring for me and never told me” followed by the camera cutting to Penny and seeing the “deer caught in the headlights” look and quickly turning away to do something else.

Hope not. The original mee-maw messed it up for me...if they must I hope Annie Potts to be her. I hope also she is nicer to Amy. Meemaw story ruined my idea of her. She was nothing like Sheldon said. I always envisioned mee-maw as Betty White. Cute, tiny, funny and sweet.

I didn't mind that MeeMaw came here to "size Amy up", I could understand her reasons. But in the middle of the argument, she intentionally spoiled the ring to Amy, that was low and petty.  Even Sheldon was not happy about this. 

I remembered an episode in S.10, Amy was upset because she wasn't even married yet, I think IF she didn't know about the ring, she would not doubt herself and be upset about it. She would just enjoy the wonderful cohabitation life with Sheldon. I'm not saying she didn't enjoy it, just she wouldn't worry about why did Sheldon still not pop the question.

I was not happy about the whole mess, so I wish we never met MeeMaw in S.9.

Amy had been in contact with MeeMaw to get the cookie recipe for the Christmas episode, so they must have been getting along all right then. If they had not MeeMaw wouldn't have given it to her. And MeeMaw knew better than anyone how difficult Sheldon can be and that they had broken up once before and gotten back together. So her turning on Amy so quickly was what threw me.

Unless Amy got the cookie recipe from Mary, who, presumably, at some point in the past, had received it from MeeMaw.

Also, bear in mind that The Clean Room Infiltration was before the Shamy Breakup.

There was a comic con question years ago if Meemaw would like Amy.  Molaro indicated she wouldn’t and when the audience reacted negatively he quickly changed his tune and said she would love Amy.  But I think he had already determined she wouldn’t like her and we ended up with this crap of a Meemaw episode.  As we all know, it backfired badly for Molaro.  Hopefully he realizes his mistake in this and doesn’t repeat it.

I think it was like this: MeeMaw intentionally came here to size Amy up, maybe she used to like Amy because Amy was so sweet to ask the recipe for Sheldon, but Amy also hurt Sheldon with the break up. So yes, she liked Amy, but not nearly as close as she LOVES Sheldon, you can tell this love from the deleted record in 11X24.

So of course she was on Sheldon's side, the whole "praising Penny for having a career and a family, saying she doesn't like Amy straightforwardly, spoiling the ring" was all to rile up Amy. But I think the fact that Amy could hold her ground by pointing out that MeeMaw's "aggressive attitude", MeeMaw's cuddling towards Sheldon, etc. and the "open talk" they had after Sheldon left had finally let Amy pass her "test". She was in Amy's situation in her marriage, so she certainly wanted to make sure that Amy can handle it. 

 

(Okay, I'm just trying to make an explanation here, I still hate this whole mess...)

I've been looking at Shamy wedding photos and the promo picture for the season 12 premiere. It looks like Amy only has one Ring on. Shouldn't she have an engagement ring and also a wedding ring on? Did anyone notice if she has two rings on or not?

My bridal set looks like one ring... perhaps hers is the same?
For those of you saying "Well, Sheldon already had the engagement ring, so how could it be a set?"  My rings were bought separately from 2 different jewelry stores, but they fit together.
Quality is not that great, but you get the idea...

Quality is not that great, but you get the idea...The jeweller could supply a wedding ring to fit the engagement ring,certainly. That way it becomes part of a set of family heirlooms with the tiara. Sometimes a wedding ring is made narrow so that they can be worn as if they're one. It's easier for taking on and off if one wears tight gloves for work, too. Notice Sheldon's ring is rather narrow so they're probably a matched pair.

Interesting taping coming up, we knew the first two episodes were going to deal with the moments just after the wedding with the honeymoon and then Shamy thinking they were on a scavenger hunt to identify the purpose of a wedding gift lol.

Wonder what our favourite couple have in store in the next few epiosdes?

I think a FWF would be nice early into the season, we didn't have one in Season 11 so its been a while. Maybe they could play on the just married theme? I've always been fond of the idea of them designing their own flag now that they are married. Could be a fun story and a nice way to celebrate their union with their FWF viewers.

If they are to be in the background for a bit then the super asymmetry project could be perfect 'Shamy in the background' material in an episode, with the show perhaps having an episode every so often that touches more in depth on the storyline.

Whatever they have Shamy doing it has been unquestionably a strong start to the season so far for our favourite couple 😊

I've not seen a promo yet but I've blown up on my phone a picture of them on their honeymoon. Amy is definitely wearing two rings. The wedding ring is narrow and sort of underneath and only slightly separated from the engagement ring, as if they're intertwined somehow.

Personally, as long as she is wearing mee-maws ring I am ok. That is the important one to me. Also, I need Sheldon to wear one. Which he does. So it is all good for me anyway.

Amy's engagement ring is an heirloom and needs to be taken care of. My engagement ring is a marquis diamond which I only wear on special occasions. It's sharp enough to kill. There is a band attached to it which I leave with it. I have a wedding band that matches my husband's that I wear for every day.

Those jokes may make Mr. Fowler like his son-in-law even more. LMAO. 

I'm really curious about this plot, hope to see some interesting "I'm gonna make friends with my in-Laws" situations, but of course, Sheldon's version. LOL.
