Yeah, in S. 10 the costumes department found a great balance with her wardrobe, it was still Amy's style, but more colorful and modern; I guess it could be justified story-wise with the fact she lost most of her clothes in the flood of her old apartment and had to shop for new ones. Her hair was also prettier, with nice curls. Then in S. 11 they reverted everything back to S. 6-Amy looks, both the wardrobe and the hairstyle/make up. I don't advocate for a change of looks in Amy, I like she feels comfortable with her own skin, but S. 10 shows there would be some space for little changes in better without altering the character one bit. Too bad they didn't stick with that!

IMO that look doesn't 'quite' suit Amy/Mayim now, everyone ages that's life and clothing and style does evolve and change.  I think like you said they made some subtle differences with her clothing and hair that actually suited an older Amy/Mayim and it wasn't radically different to her well-established character's style.  But they have gone back to what it was like years ago for some reason.

I haven't noticed Amy looking different in any of the seasons. Must have been very subtle. I think it would be awkward for the Amy character to suddenly dress more modern and trendy...

I liked the subtle differences in Amy look after her apartment was damaged but tbh I didnt miss them much as they made her back to her old style. Like Sheldon , there is an usual "vibe" what comes to this couple look. I mean, for much I would like to see Sheldon and Amy wearing other kind of clothes, their essence as characters are "built"from his two shirts and her vest and too many layers style. Amy proved it undoubtly with her wedding dress, lol!

My favorite dress was the one she wore on her date with Dave when Sheldon went to find her and saw Dave kiss her. That was a cute dress.

Yeah, I know. My point was I dont mind she still wears her usual number of layers. Actually I sugest you read @mirs1 post as she talked about Amy's wardrobe differences in S 10 for you have the whole point about our chat for last hours.

I need to re watch season 10 and focus on Amy's style. I think I must be the only one that missed the slight change. I like season 10 anyway...for the most part.

It started earlier than that, more like mid to end of season 9.

Hair styled slightly differently in that Sheldon birthday episode and in Big Bear you can definitely tell it's more wavy and curly and less dead straight as it is now and like earlier seasons.  They carried on with that style in season 10.

She started wearing some different dresses but still keeping with her style around the break up period and afterwards for a period.

Again it was subtle changes, I would say that the hair was less subtle and more noticeable than the clothing.

if this is season 9 where you can see some differences no wonder. I still can't watch the majority of that season...I have a mental block of it. Perhaps someday I can watch some of the episodes...

You are right, I remembered that warehouse episode, Amy's hair was so curly, it was very obvious to me. 

I think, in S.10, they "dailed back" the curly part, just not straightened her hair, it suited Amy, she looked very cute in S.10.

Now, it's just "dead straight" like you said correctedly.

Yes, me too. I also like that one she wore in 9X24, when they were having dinner with Leonard's parents and Mary.

Btw, I'm rewatching S11 and I arrived at "The Matrimonial Metric".

I can't decide....at the end of the "cold feet" scene in bed, is that Sheldon showing us a cheeky grin or is Jim breaking character? 😂

Huh. I watched all season 9 and some of 10. She looks the exact same to me. She looks like Amy. Straight as pin hair with hair clip, skirt, tights, blouse and jacket or cardigan. A blouse with a sweater over it and buttoned all the way up at times. Still no difference at all to me. I glad though. I dont want characters to suddenly dress differently. Sheldon without his two t-shirts? Amy with no tights and cardigan? Howard without tight pants and a matching dickie? No sweater vests for Raj? No thank you. They way they dress is perfect for each of their personalities...I wouldn't change a thing. To me, the way these characters dress is as iconic as the sets.

I would say that hairstyle is very similar to the one in Season 6.

That hairstyle is slightly different and more wavy IMO.

It's not a huge change, still the same color, pretty much the same length and she still wears her clip, but I still maintain the view that towards the end of Season 9 it was styled slightly differently which continued into Season 10 but then they reverted it more to like it was in Season 6 during Season 11.

I think they should have kept it more wavy and curly, suits Amy better now at her age.

 

Yep! You are right! I can really see some definate curls in the last picture. I see also her dress is different as well. It is easier for me to see it in side by side pictures. That said, I really like her hair in the last picture, but prefer the sweater vest to the really bright dress in the last picture. That you for the pictures! They really did help 😃

I saw this GIF the other day, I think this is the most "balance" one. The outfit and hairdo are not stylish, if anything, just plain simple with the icon cardigan and shirt. 

And this Amy looked very cute.

Howard still wears tight pants and dickies but his shirts are more.. "normal", common among men his age and background, than those he used to wear early in the show. It's a subtle difference, but it is a difference. Leonard rarely wears hoodies now. So some changes do happen and go well. I personally think the change in Amy was nice, perhaps too cutesy at times, but I think they could have continued along those lines.

I think part of the issue is that Mayim had lost weight for S10 and gained some for S11 due to some health issue (she's been mentioning it in some blog post or video). So I guess they found some more fitting clothes in S10 and now that they don't fit so well anymore they've been digging out the older outfits again.

I went to watch it after seeing your post, I vote for "cheeky grin to Amy", because after he said "you are right to be worried" ,and seeing Amy's WTF face, so he just kissed her and smiled. 

On a side note, I LOLed so hard at seeing Sheldon "storming out of comic book store" after Howard said "Really? A walking clump of swamp grass?"

Oh, thank you for the info. I hope she is better now. 

 

ETA: I still hope they would change her hair back to S.10's style, like they did with Raj's hair. Like Kunal said on comic con :"Straighten the hair for every taping is no fun." Indeed, LOL.
