I suppose it depends where one lives and how much the adventure means.

Who told you it was a TV show ?  Those people are real and it's a privilege to be allowed to overhear their conversations and watch them eating and playing. It would be a big thing in my life if I were able to travel to the other side of the world.

TV show or not, it was a huge thing for me to get into a taping.  But, it depends on what it means to you.   For me, it was more than just a TV show.  I've made friends from this show, it resembled a part of my life, it help me get through physical and mental issues, it started me writing, and getting to go to a taping was, outside of my family, one of the biggest things in my life.  I've never cared about a TV show as I've cared about this one.

Big moment for me too. Travelling all the way from Australia makes it a big deal and getting up at 3 am and clicking refresh on the computer until I got two tickets made it an even bigger triumph. Been to lots of TV shows back home but this was once in a life time opportunity I planned my whole trip around, including the starting time.

I used to go to recordings of radio programmes whenever I had to spend a day or two in London. In those three-TV-channel, pre-internet days we had to send an SAE (Stamped, Addressed Envelope ) by post to the ticket unit at the BBC to avoid having to queue at the door for the chance of getting a seat. Equivalent of today's guaranteed and standbys I suppose.

On one occasion as a friend and I were leaving the studio after a recording of 'My Word' we found ourselves just behind one of the panellists, Frank Muir. He was telling a fellow writer-comedian that he still couldn't understand after the number of years they'd been going what the appeal was to the public . I was able to interrupt him and tell him how one of his answers - the silliest of stories really -  over a decade previously had literally changed my life and sent me back to my education and beyond.  Tears are running down my face as I type this post forty-odd years after that encounter. It meant as much, perhaps even more, as meeting an old teacher in town three years after Frank's broadcast and telling him  I'd just heard I'd got into an Oxford college to read his subject. (Imagine his face !)

Never think a show can't be a big thing in one's life and that watching it being made can't be the visit of a lifetime.

How did he respond to your story when you interrupted him?

Pleased.  Always glad to know how his work went down etc. If he was irritated he didn't show it. I suppose writers of his fame and calibre aren't surprised to hear they influence people.

I was the bald dude   (and I only wore the flannel around my waist because it was warm outside but was told it might be chilly on the set).

Either way, My wife and I are really glad you got in. We felt bad that all these fans were put in limbo over a slew of extra guests from Ellen.

I thought all those extra people must've been VIP guests! My husband is the bigger fan so I would've been very disappointed for him if we missed out because of that. Really glad we got to experience it.

My first post! My experience attending the taping of 1215 'The Donation Oscillation' on January 22nd. We arrived to join the long line at 3pm and were #49 and #50 in the guaranteed ticket line. Everyone with guaranteed tickets got in that week. Around 15 people with standby tickets got in but even back in January the VIP numbers were building up. When we arrived at Soundstage 25, we were asked if we wanted to be seated at the back of the middle section or the front row to the right of the VIPs - there is only 4 seats on that row. We chose the front row right next to the VIPs - this was next to guests of Brian Thomas Smith (Zack) who came over to chat to his friends during breaks! It was a perfect location as all but two scenes (one in the cafeteria and one in Amy & Sheldon's apartment) were filmed right in front of us in Penny & Leonard's apartment or to our right = Bernadette and Howard's kitchen and Vomit Comet check-in. What was even better was that one of the VIPs had traveled from Canada and was a special guest of the cast. Mayim and Kaley came over to talk to her at the end of the taping and were stood right in front of me whilst welcoming the guest and exchanging greetings!! It was great to see and listen to the cast so up close as they talked to the VIP for 5 minutes and made a special visit (we traveled from the UK) even more memorable.

My husband and I have been to one taping before, it was a Halloween episode, and had been trying to get final season taping tickets, but only got stand by for April 23. I’ve been reading through messages and had a few questions. If we decide to go, what do you think our chances are to get in, and what time should we try to get in line? How early can you get in the parking garage, and do they charge? Also, can you bring chairs to sit in while you’re waiting in line? Thanks for any input or advice.

I don't know if you'll get in at all. Not even regular tickets are guaranteed anymore. Judging by the last few posts on the last few pages lots of standbys are not getting in no matter how long they've waited. Have you gone back and read some of the comments on this over the last few pages?

Since everyone will be stand by, I was hoping the first ones in line might get in. It would have to be an all VIP audience if no one in line got in.

That’s the plan.  At this point, some of the VIPs, who are all friends and family of the cast and crew, or upper level execs at CBS or Warner Brothers, would have to not show up for any standby to get in.  

Here’s an example, at the last taping, Kaley’s glam crew, who have been friends of hers for years, were there.  It was their last taping. Friends of Kaley’s for years, were not going to get into either of the last two tapings. 

This is not to say you won’t get in, because there might be a case of some emergency keeping someone from making it.  But, at this point, the chances of getting in are slim and none, and slim just left town.

General consensus I'm hearing is that it IS supposed to be all VIP. It's been getting worse and worse as it's gotten closer to the end as I
 indicated by my last post. I apologize for not being more clear. You very well might stand there all day for nothing, almost positively for nothing. That risk is yours to take, but it's a huge risk.

We were wavering back and forth whether or not to go, so I finally sent an email on Monday to the tv ticket web site to see if they knew how many people might be let in on the standby tickets. They replied back right away and said they were hoping 40-50 might get in, of course not guaranteed, so we decided to go and take our chances, and I’m glad we did. We got in, and had an incredible time. It was all that, and so much more. Thanks to all responsible for this website and all posters for extra info on what to expect.

We were made to sign a non disclosure agreement as soon as we were seated in the parking structure. I’m not sure that is the norm. The audience MC, not sure what his official title is, constantly reminded us not to reveal anything we saw. They also showed us a previously taped episode that hasn’t been aired yet on the above head tv monitors while we were seated and waiting for things to start. I want to say that about 50 people on standby got in, but that is an even better story. I had been trying since January to get tickets for one of the remaining tapings with no luck. I was so frustrated, I finally sent an email at the beginning of March begging for any type of ticket to one of the final tapings. They replied back almost immediately that our names were put on the standby list for April 23, and no ticket would be required, we just needed our ID. I did try to get a guaranteed ticket for shows in between then with no luck also. We got out yesterday later than we wanted, and the traffic didn’t help, so we got in line around 10:30 and it looked like by rough count we were about number 40, but by the time the ticket people came, I want to say we were about number 50 with all the joiners to parties already in line. We got out our ID’s because we didn’t have a ticket and my heart dropped when they checked the list and said our name wasn’t on it. There were two people checking tickets and the other woman asked our name, and then said they’re on my list. So since it took a little bit of time to find our names, I looked and saw where the people in front of us had sat down and asked if we sit next to them, and they said no, and sent us to the empty row in the front. There were only two other people sitting there. We were a little confused by why we were sent there, so I asked the other two why we didn’t get to sit with everyone else, I wasn’t sure if it was a good or bad thing, and they said we were audience guests? I believe she said. She had a ticket that said “au ticket” I believe. We weren’t VIP, but were let in before they took any standby tickets. I saw later that the couple in front of us got in, but I didn’t see the people behind us in line, but it was hard to see the corner sections from where we got seated. Had we been taken in standby order, I believe we would have been right on the cusp of getting in. The front four rows were all taped off for VIP’s. I’m  just so very thankful to the person who put our names on that list, because I’m still not sure if we would have made it in otherwise.

Unpopular opinion, but I am glad they had the audience sign NDAs. Wish it had always been that way. Hiding from spoilers is not fun.
