It's not just that, he has his own company to produce whatever he wants. Even in the unlikely case that nobody wanted to cast him in anything ever again (which in itself is of course nonsense) he can just cast himself in whatever story he feels like playing or he'll work more behind the scene in general. He really can do whatever he wants at this point.

$10-$20 million a year in residuals don't hurt either.

It doubtless comes in useful when investing in projects.

From CBS Press Express

A RIVAL TEAM OF PHYSICISTS TRIES TO TAKE CREDIT FOR AMY AND SHELDON’S SUPER ASYMMETRY THEORY, ON “THE BIG BANG THEORY,” THURSDAY, JAN. 17

Sean Astin and Kal Penn Guest Star as Rival Physicists, Dr. Pemberton and Dr. Campbell

“The Confirmation Polarization” – When Sheldon and Amy’s super asymmetry theory is proven by two physicists, Dr. Pemberton (Sean Astin) and Dr. Campbell (Kal Penn) from Chicago, they’re thrilled, until they try to kick Amy off the Nobel nomination. Also, Bernadette has a big success at work and Penny’s going to be a part of it – whether she wants to or not – on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Thursday, Jan. 17 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

So the writers do plan to finish the show with Sheldon getting his precious Nomination for a Nobel, that he has been whining about for 12 seasons and was the most important thing in his life.

I can't say that I'm really surprised

I really have to disagree and I will use “Friends” as an example, google why “Friends” ended and you will find a lot of stuff.  I feel TBBT was better than “Friends” so I think it is a very reasonable assumption that there will be even more discussion on that subject.  Heck if you google “ why TBBT ended” on google now you can find blame already being placed on Parsons by some.

So I took the bate on google and I don't really see people are griping about it.

When it wraps, it will be the longest-running multi-camera series in television history.

It is okay that Jim is walking away.

It’s there.  However isn’t it interesting how incredibly fast it came out, after the show was announced to not be continuing, that Parsons was the one who did not want to do another season.  I really have to wonder if TPTB (Lorre) were dropping a piano on him.

I'm guessing Lorre will have a lot of respect for Jim. This is nothing like the crazy that went on with TAAHM.

I thought it was strange that Chuck didn’t make the original announcement about the show ending instead of JP saying he was done.  I can’t believe Chucky is happy about JP considering YS viewership has to go down without the TBBT lead in.

Remember when Penny had career advancement plots? Now Bernadette is taking them?

Already onto a nobel nomination 5 seconds after being published.....and I'm sure there's more peer review to do than just that 😕

The Bernadette advancement may be a good thing for Lenny. Wasn’t the reason Penny didn’t want kids was her career?

as for Nobel nomination. Isn’t the best viewer the dumbest?

That wasn't even a little bit a part in Penny's decision

Also I don't know what Bernadette getting promoted would have to do with a Lenny baby

No, it wasn't. She just said she didn't want them.

I remember Holland (IIRC) said Penny will get closer to Bernadette at work so that's that.

And of course there's a Nobel nomination, God forbid Sheldon doesn't achieve all his dreams :icon_rolleyes:

Yeah, God forbid he doesn't achieve his biggest dream. It'd be great if he and Leonard are nominated and Leonard wins the Nobel! :sungum:

And the Lenny/Zac story can’t even get 2 consecutive weeks to develop I know they’re coming back but why does every Lenny story get delayed - not a peep since the episode 3 no kids call until this out of nowhere sperm donor thing and then because of course Penny never tries to deal with anything, we move on to a work story with Bernie. Frustrating

Don't worry. It seems to be just a good old tradition that will continue until the bitter end. 🙄

Exactly it just looks ridiculous if the plot for Lenny in 12x12 has Leonard not give an answer then in the very next episode instead of continuing it from there and seeing Leonards answer. It's getting brushed aside so we can have yet another plot about super asymmetry which the description pretty much confirms Sheldon will be getting a Nobel prize. As for the Bernadette plot I have no idea what success Bernadette could have that will involve Penny, maybe Bernadette is getting promoted and Penny will be her PA. Anyway what it shows is with Penny being in that plot implies that the donor plot has been shelved for now. Which is ridiculous that we have to wait for I don't how long for the resolution to that plot. Yet we are getting another plot about the Shamy super asymmetry that's 4 out 5 episodes in a row it's been covered , yet they can't manage 2 in a row for the Lenny plot. Looks like there might not be a point in watching the rest of the season now, because if Sheldon gets Nobel nomination he'll never shut up about it. Still think it's unfair he'll get what he's always wanted since the first season but Leonard probably won't.

Sure would, How about with all the publicity the university has stirred up, enough funding comes in for  the experimental work Sheldon went to Las Vegas for ? And if Howard gets the next MacArthur, joins them, and all three of them get Nobelled ?

I would rather deal directly with the facts and finally show who deserves all the credit.

That would be perfect! It would probably kill Sheldon as well!  😊
