Yes  Kaley has said in the past she really does not like working with kids.  But seeing this is the final season I would hope that they just have Penny tell Leonard she is pregnant possibly in the next to last episode. This way everyone goes home happy. And it would be a touching and emotional ending.

I don’t see why the writers would do this they never were a big Lenny fan the ending would probably be shamy centric

I hear your pessimism but if they can do this it will satisfy alot of Lenny fans........I think

It doesn't matter, these writers have proven time after time that anything written in previous episodes are of no consequences to what they put in new episodes.

And also it will be in the final episodes, so who will care anyway.

I think it would be better if they deliver the message that it is a personal thing and one should not be "recruited" to any camp. This way they can avoid leaving some fans very upset by at least leaving her undecided, and not misrepresent IRL women who don't want kids.

I keep thinking back that this topic of non-kids is just an extension of her fear committments. She may just fear the committment of motherhood. If it is it will be a viable way for her to be pregnant by the end of the season,  JMO

Maybe Leonard or Bernadette suggest a permanent IUD (in Bernadette's case something from Zanagen) so she doesn't have to take pills anymore (because apparently she does and if you don't want kids suffering from all those hormones?), but she doesn't want to. And maybe she ends up freezing her eggs to have more time to decide with less biological clock pressure.

I just do not see this at sitcom material.

I don't see what they did in the latest episode, the boat kiss or "The Romance Recalibration" (the one where suddenly Leonard is Howard, playing video games in his underwear and semi-ignoring Penny) as sitcom material.

I was going to respond to the same post. TBBT is a sitcom. What bfm wrote is way too serious for this show. This is not that type of show.

See above.

I can't say I've ever heard of this 'camp' of people who don't want children. In my youth there were 'camps' of mothers who went to work because they were frowned-upon ( unless they were widows ) and so needed moral support. in more recent years there seem to be 'camps' of those who purposely stay at home because they feel they're the unusual ones now. Childless people who are unhappily so look for support in their efforts towards overseas adoption or getting fertility treatment.  I've never even thought of those who are deliberately child-free as in need of anything. Does this 'camp' really exist ?

Yeah, childfree communities do exist, they have summits and conferences and news pages, etc.

...and they're threatened with extinction?

That doesn't happen unless across the lineage no one reproduces.  So in Lenny's case, not having kids does not mean that the Hofstadter line ends with them.

You're right, If I remember right Leonard's brother and sister have sons. She has kept the Hofstadter name!

Technically speaking, His sistet kids would still be Hofstader’s whether they had the name or not.  What would end with Leonard if he doesn’t have a som n is the direct male lline descendants who would carry his name . One of the main reason why historicallly most Men have always wanted at least ome son

People can change their minds on that. I just found it hard to believe because the change appeared to be so easy and quick, as if it were about choosing a car, not such a big life-course decision such as not having kids. These writers are really not up for these things and with the scene between Penny and Bernadette they got themselves in a position they will have a hard time getting out of. That is why I don't think they are thinking of changing that. I think they are going the no kids way, not caring about the way some very hardcore loyal fans feel about it. I know some who have decided to stop watching due to that. I'm on the verge, not just because of that but an acummulating effect. I will probably keep watching to know what happens and look for some nice moments here and there, but I don't think I will be rewatching episodes or clips for a long time, like happened to me after the end of HIMYM. Right now I don't enjoy the show much (again not only because of the no kids thing), I just feel like reading and writing fanfiction. I'm glad there's that, the writers can't control my imagination.

I agree with everything you're saying. As you I don't enjoy the show very much nowadays. This last episode was pathetic to me. Lenny didn't seem like Lenny and I sort of find something off with Shamy (or maybe it's just Sheldon) and TBH I'm really happy this is the last season. I always knew things could keep going down hill. I just never expected them to take such a nose dive.

Okay, here's a way to fix the situation and show a fulfilled prophecy:

Penny has a dream 20 years in the future. She has two beautiful and smart children. She gets from the dream why she had them, considering she didn't want children. It clicks, she wakes up and jumps on Leonard, who has no protection and says so. Penny says,"I know". END OF EPISODE. (and maybe END OF SEASON, END OF SERIES).

That would most certainly be ending the show with a Big Bang.

Well.... you are right and you're wrong. The writers used to write Lenny waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better that how they do now. They made them a very special couple. That is what made me feel in love with them in the first place.

You're right in saying that the ending will probably be Shamy centric. Everything seems to be nowadays. Come to think of it that's when the show got ruined, when it became Shamy centric.

That was a joke due to the use of word "communities" and questioning their existence.

Nice thought, but too logical for this set of writers!

I SOOOO agree with you. I kept my expectations very low and they still managed to give me such a terrible surprise. That's just unbelievable. I can't believe how much they don't care about some of us fans, so much so they're willing to do something that actively upsets us so much.

That surprise was in the boat kiss range of stupid, terrible and unbelievable!

The writers seems to be more interested to introduce the whole cast from YS on Tbbt than to write decent plots to the main cast.

I would prefer a YS character in every episode and Lenny doing nothing but not having this stupid plot.

Yeah, I don't like or even watch that show and don't need it crammed down our throats as Sheldon/shamy is!

I guess that's the lesser of two evils!

Sure but I think we cannot expect that and I found out my expectation were too high even when I thought they were very low. So who knows what we may be getting. I'll just watch to see how it ends but mostly be into fanfiction. In fics and imagination I can give Lenny the family I think they deserve. Who cares what TPTB do with the show? They're not consistent with themselves, they write AU/OOC themselves than why should I take what they write seriously anyway. At this point it feels like some fanfic writers care more and invest more thought into their stories and write more IC and consistent than TPTB (not talking about myself, I cannot evaluate myself). Not saying fanfic writers are better, TPTB got a 12 season run and top rating for years, they are experts in some aspect, but are doing terrible, JMO, in others.
