I just watched The Tam Turbulence online. Is this a comedy? Maybe someone should tell the writers, because I can honestly say that I didn't laugh once. I can assure you that I did watch the episode with an open mind, because given the current state of affairs I didn't have any kind of expectations. What seems amazing to me is that even that being the case, I was still disappointed.

Even if Holland told journalists that the writers were planning this season as it were the last, I guess he and the writing team had the strong suspicion it could not be the case, hence they penned the beginning of the season the way they did (which was rather unimpressive to me). But the point is they knew it was the last season only one week after they started filming, so I hope they don't shoot all 7/8 episodes they had already written (they were at Episode 5 before SDCC, so I imagine they at least sketched another couple of them in August) as they were thought over the summer. They should think more to evolve the main stories and less to write filler episodes and have different guest stars. I don't need each and every YS character on TBBT. TBH, this has making me hate YS! Also, I get the fact the writers might want their most beloved guest star to come back for a last performance, but this shouldn't be done at the expense of the main characters...

Yes  I believe Holland said they had written 6 or 7 episodes before the announcement.  So that would mean that the Lenny baby issue was written already and they probably would have dropped it without any resolution as they do with so many other plotlines. But now with this the final season they are forced to come up with a reasonable conclusion.

It's still a no win for them come Season 12...

If Sheldon is a jerk, he's always been a jerk and hasn't learned anything.

If Sheldon isn't a jerk, they have changed him to much.

Jim was smart to call it quits and end this.

Sheldon has been a jerk since the pilot. So irregardless of character growth. This has never changed.

You mean the short hair cut Penny? I am just thrilled her hair is long again. This to me is the true Penny. Messy, independent, and free spirited.

So they already had 7-8 written, but it's clear they made small edits to a few of them to contextualize a final season feel (those weird Tam inclusions into famous moments from show's history) and that still fell flat.

The point is, when we get to episode 9, don't expect it to magically feel epic.

It will be business as usual, except now maybe the execution of Anu will suddenly be changed if she was meant to be another Raj disaster before Raj would have found the one in either Season 13/Season 14/Season 67.

I agree. He is my hero for having done that. IMO these last few seasons have been crap (with a few exceptions), and I'm happy the show's ending. If I really think about it, the only reason I'm watching (online) is because of my misplaced loyalty to a show that was great for its first 6 1/2 seasons.
