I rise from the grave to bring spoilers. I am too much on a high from managing to finally attend a taping not to share with the happy Shamy crowd.

Not much direct Shamy interaction but they had a plot where Sheldon decides to bond with his in-laws because he “wants to be a good husband and since they’re important to Amy, by the transitive property, they’re important to him”. Cut to Sheldon trying to bond with Larry and failing once Larry finds Howard’s magic tricks more exciting than Sheldon. So Sheldon moves on to Mrs Fowler next and they surprisingly bond once it comes out that Amy used Sheldon as an excuse not to spend time with her mother and so Mrs Fowler realizes she’s been angry at Sheldon for no reason all this time. And they bond over their hatred of Amy and her dad putting ketchup on eggs (amongst other things - there’s a cute like where Amy’s mom tells Sheldon how can he defend Amy when she’s thrown him under the bus and he says she’s his wife and he loves her and if he can forgive her putting ketchup on eggs he can forgive her this). LOL. Sheldon now finds Mrs Fowler a delight.

I can’t believe I got so lucky to see Kathy Bates act right in front of me with Jim and Mayim! There was a blooper with Kathy and Jim that was just hysterical that I’m 100% sure is going to end up on the DVD.

The other plot was about Raj and Anu planning to sleep together for the first time and Raj getting so stressed out he relapsed back into his inability to speak to her while sober. It was a surprising twist and a cute resolution but nothing to write home about.

Thanks koops sounds amazing 😍😘

For the first season your point of view is absolutely correct. Since we were all allowed to follow the development of the different characters, our individual point of view could develop to the respective preferences.

A long time, authenticity stood for Sheldon's quirks and his character, which is no longer there (IMO). The more and more frequent combination with YS destroys his credibility at TBBT. As the protagonist he stands out from the other characters, who also didn't develop more credibly.
But now I save my ire for the way they mess around with Penny!

I think I need to remember the wise words my friends throw at me when I complain about incredibilities, "It's a sitcom, relax!" 😉

Totally agree! The writers can't leave the past alone. The continuing jokes of her drinking and of course the wearing her down and her settling. But I guess as you said "It's a sitcom". It may be a comedy, but some of their humor is getting old and not needed! Hopefully that will be my last rant for today, but that's unlikely!    :hi:

Just remember these guys. TBBT is a step towards real. Just a step or two.

Maybe in the past. Not so much anymore.

Saw a cute clip for this weeks episode (no. 7) with Penny and Leonard. Leonard has to allot grant money and has to get assertive and Penny loves it. I really think they are trying to show Lenny as a happily married couple and enjoying each other...........a positive spin for a change   Let's hope it lasts

That's all we have these days is hope. I guess we'll take any good Lenny scenes that we can get!

She does make a nice Mary Poppins!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN to all! Hopefully the weather doesn't spoil the holiday. I think the storms over Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi hits us here outside of Pensacola sometime tomorrow. So the kids here should enjoy a nice night for trick or treating!

Other than the main plot being a filler...sure

Amy's mom and dad need to be sent in a crate to Madagascar alreadyRaj relapsing around his wife sounds pretty important to his character arc....so yes it is something to write home about

I was thinking something similar. A crate to Madagascar is funny.  In defense of koops it was originally posted on the shamy thread

Who knows. But Kathy Bates is becoming like Bob Newhart. He was funny the first couple times and then you were left why is on again.

Explaining why he knocked 3 times seemed half assed from the writers. I kinda like how they dropped the Bazinga Catchphrase.

Yes, I get that.

BTW I liked the 3 knocks, but think they ruined it when they explained it. IMO they should have just left it as a quirk of Sheldon's personality

Exactly.

I liked Sheldon's three knocks as well. It was so uniquely Sheldon! I thought the explanation was needless!

IF it is not broke why fix it. And if it is, who gives a rats ass.

But this show has mostly thrown cannon out the window over the years. The curse of being a live action sitcom airing for over a decade.

I agree no explanation was needed.

I liked it too.

Not sure it was unique to Sheldon (this is just a joke). Remember  Tony Orlando and Dawn

I agree with @veejay and completely disagree with you. You may disagree but Jim succeeded in giving Sheldon a wonderful personality, a very strong one actually, from the start. It may seem like a caricature to you , but not to me.  IMO, very early on,  he won multiple Emmys and Golden Globes because of the oddness, the emotions, the quirks, the physical comedy , the innocence, the quirks, the one-of-a-kind mannerisms and brilliant dialogue. There were plenty of heart warming scenes and equally funny ones and in no way were the characters interchangable. Leonard was always more likable, grounded and able to converse with  Penny more than the other guys. And on what planet was Howard's sleazy dialogue interchangable with Sheldon or Leonard ?? Penny was also not at all ditzy. She had shown plenty of street smarts, patience,  kindness and tolerance towards Leonard and surprisingly intuitive towards Sheldon as well , even in the early seasons.

On the contrary, I think right now, I feel all the guys (and even the girls) are interchangeable. They all come across as man children who annoy their bored wives with their "childish" interests and antics and it usually follows the same old tropes. It might seem like exaggerating and generalizing on my part, but I see plenty of exaggeration and generalization in your declarartion that "the characters had no personality".

I agree! Of all the characters, Sheldon was the most unique. TPTB have taken that away and gave us a more "normal" Sheldon.

I think Jim has done a great job with the character. Superb. The thing that turns Sheldon into an unbelievable caricature is his childishness. That goes all the way back to the Luminous Fish Effect in 1.04. It was a funny episode but totally unbelievable.

I think Leonard and Sheldon were actually nearly interchangeable in the first pilot. Sheldon became more distinctive in the second pilot. Having said that the writers do seem to take a trait and kind of move it around a bit.

I recall reading on line criticisms of TBBT where they said Penny was too dizzy prior to the writers strike. Particularly in 1.01. If she was street smart she would not have moved onto the 4th floor of a building with a broken elevator. Beverly's assessment of the elevator and dust on the danger tape was closer to being street smart.
