Big Bang Theory Video: Kal Penn and Sean Astin Geek Out Over Sheldon and Amy (and... John Stamos?)

In this week’s Big Bang Theory, Sheldon and Amy find themselves back in the room where it their wedding happened, courtesy of special guest stars Kal Pennand Sean Astin.

As previously reported, the Designated Survivor and Stranger Things actors play a team of physicists who accidentally confirm the newlyweds’ super-asymmetry theory. Thursday’s episode centers on the quartet’s first face-to-face meeting and, as you can see in the exclusive sneak peek above, it’s a veritable love-fest. The only thing Astin’s Dr. Pemberton and Penn’s Dr. Campbell are more excited about than breaking bread with Sheldon and Amy is the imminent prospect of breathing the same air as John Stamos (it’ll make more sense when you watch the clip).

However, the above preview does not give any hint of the crisis about to unfold: While Pemberton and Campbell strongly believe the breakthrough is Nobel-worthy, they balk at including Amy’s name in the nomination submission.

I so agree, less than a dozen episodes left and they are writing a meaningless one like ‘‘tis tells me that they have already checked out.  I can’t believe they left off the Lenny donation plot like they did, it just goes to show what smokin in the writers room over 11 years can do to ones mind.

Anyway, thanks @kenan for the taping report, that was very nice of you to take the time and let us know about this episode.

no problems, taping was huge fun for us, and it was fun sharing it with all of you as well. I found all the info I needed regarding taping here and the least I could do was to share my experiences with you!

now back home, tomorrow work etc... back to real life i guess

Kal Penn and Mayim both went to UCLA....their teams are the Bruins.

Thank you. As a Canadian the only Bruins I was familiar with were the Boston Bruins NHL team.

A cousin once dragged me to get a Bobby Orr autograph when I was too young to know what the fuss was about.

She was blond in thr flashback where she was 16, could've been dyed but if they wanted to make it canon that her hair was dark the flashback would've been the perfect opportunity to show it.

16 year olds do dye their hair, especially if they're fixated on being popular, but I don't think the writers think things through that well. They didn't consider that they might be joking about it seasons later.

"Adorable" is entirely in the eye of the beholder. I see what I see and I believe their (Shamy's)  children will be smart and adorably awkward.  And of course, there's absolutely no reason to believe that Lenny's children will be both smart and beautiful simply because Leonard is smart and Penny is  beautiful either, but I still choose to believe it.

In episode 10.14, the one with June Squib as Meemaw, we were told Sheldon's personality came from his Pop-pop. That could be where his genius and science brain comes from too. Pop-pop didn't have a lot of luck in business and he died young. Doesn't mean he wasn't brilliant. We don't know for certain that Sheldon was unusual in his larger family, only that his siblings weren't as academically high-achieving when young.  Whatever Shamy's and Lenny's children's natural inheritance, nurture plays a big part when it comes to attainment. Being born into a social class composed of professional people is a head start on the attainment path. If they don't inherit their parents' genius the chance are their brains will still develop well and they'll be able to accomplish what they want to.

Could it be that we got the 1203 episode, because TPTB was almost certain that there would be a season 13.

We'll never know but I'm surprised we didn't hear about the negotiations were that the case. Also, if they were at the almost certain stage, then Jim left it late, rather than early, to make his wishes known.  In the past we only heard  when the  last-agreed season was well underway. There must have been some reason why in season 10 they only went for a two-year contract. After 1201 was in the can the announcement was made that season 12 was officially the last. So, they had time to change the story for 1203 if they'd written it with another season in mind.

It's a crap, really. I want to stay with these characters out of a simple desire to finish the show's journey but they are not making it easy.

The writers and TPTB are making that, down right hard!

Perhaps the writers don't like/want to rewrite a whole episode. :icon_cheesygrin:

I'm honestly tired of putting any "ifs, whens or maybes" in the lost space. I stick to the observation of the presented episodes. My personal conclusion confirms the necessary and upcoming end of this trivial "soap derivate".

Yeah, yeah, all right.
