[Spoilers] Season 12 Discussion Thread

But, I think the finale should be about them each moving on with their lives. Whether sheldon/amy get the nobel prize or major achievement, leonard/penny moving away because of new job or cant have children, raj perhaps moving on with or without Anu. Bernadette getting promoted, Howard finally meeting his dad etc. (Over the top ideas I know)

Moving out appartment 4A/B could be a good ending to the show. It would be great to include the gag with the elavator. It would be funny if it was finally fixed as they move onto into the future.

I agree that all couples/characters deserves a "happy" ending, but can this be done in episode? If not, which storyline is relocated to ep 22-23?

Since only the season finale will be remembered by the casual viewer.

The article makes many observations and  asks many of the questions which have been asked on the Forum. I think they did a good job on their summary and analysis!

Screen Rant is normally has off the wall observations but they nailed this one . Granted they could of gotten that off this thread and fine tuned it. Since many people watch on syndicationand many times they cut to Shelnard walking up the stairs there may be some viewers that may have never seen that scene.  (I’m not referring to people on this thread)

Big Bang Theory Season 12 Pays Off Very First Pilot Scene

https://screenrant.com/big-bang-theory-season-12-sperm-bank-pilot-scene/

This is true. This whole Sperm plot Is the show homaging the pilot. Who knows if Leonard we’ll father a child. But maybe adoption is in Lenny’s future. Hypothetically if Leonard does go through with it. And fathers a child. I get the sense Penny doesent dislike children.

Why would Lenny adopt? Penny said she doesn’t want children. Many people like children who aren’t their own because there is no responsibility. That’s my sense of Penny  right now. Giving birth or adopting  is no difference in that case.

Me, too. He was so good at what he did. I felt compassion for him towards his innocence.  Then I saw the bloopers and I could tell he was so different from his character, his smiles were so sweet and genuine. I was hooked. He seems to be well liked by directors and actors he works with.

I was complete opposite I felt indifference to his character. I found him self righteous, arrogant, and insufferable. Jim was brilliant particularly first 3 seasons. But I never cared much for the character of Sheldon. But that is just my perspective. Penny is the reason I got into the show haha. Not just for Kaleys looks when she was younger. But Penny played this outsider so well. And Kaleys comedic timing was impeccable.

Well that does not matter, why would they persist with this storyline beyond one episode. IF Penny was not going to change her mind?

But would the show lasted without him?  I don't think so.

Unlike many here, I like ALL the characters. I didn’t start watching from the beginning - the first episode I saw was Recombination. which drew me in through Lenny mainly because they were the focus of the episode but I found the others instantly relatable as well. I quickly binged watched the first 5 seasons ( really quickly!) and grew to love the original 5, flaws and all, enjoying their relationships and the good and bad interactions they had. I can easily suspend disbelief in search of escapist humour so didn’t overanalyse Sheldon’s mistreatment of others, Howard’s creepiness, etc. I just grew to love the show through everyone in it.

It’s why I want Season 12 to end positively for everyone, not just my favourites. I won’t begrudge Shamy and the Nobel. I want Raj to be happy. And if Lenny don’t get the idealised ending Lennies want I will still cheer for the happy endings for the others. And if Lenny end up with A happy ending, even if it’s not the one I want for them, I’ll be content. It’s only if they don’t, that I’ll be upset........but I’ll still be hoping for the others. That’s me. I know not everyone’s not thinking that way.

No, but I don’t think it’s a one man effort. Don’t think 12 seasons of a Sheldon soliloquy would’ve happened either. If you listen to Jim, Johnny and Kaley in that interview they just did, it’s clear to them, the people that matter, how much each of them meant to the show’s longevity. I don’t think it needs to be a competition about who’s the most important. They all are. But that won’t stop fans having favourites different to others.

What makes you (or anyone) think they have anything bad to say about the writers? That notion is in fans heads, not theirs. Their writers provided them with secure jobs and lots of money.

Good point that we don't know what's in their heads for certain. It seems reasonable, however, that if actors play parts over many years they get attached to them. If they are made to say things that are inconsistent with earlier storylines or out of character that must be annoying. Whether work and money blunts the edge of that one can only speculate. I'd say that much money over twelve years probably does.

No it wouldn't, but at the same time, the show wouldn't have lasted without Johnny or Kaley either.

It wasn't a moot point anyway. @3ku11 didn't asked that question. He obviously stated his opinion "that is just my perspective". 🙄

I was responding to @vonmar as he stated that the show wouldn't have lasted without Jim!

I know, but why was the question asked? It didn't come up to me as an appropriate answer to Skull's post.

I think @sku11 stated something about not caring for the Sheldon character and the response was "the show wouldn't have lasted without him". My response should have been the show wouldn't have lasted without Leonard and Penny not Johnny and Kaley!

I could honestly say if the show went on without him I'd stop watching. All the others are great but I seem to lose interest with the other story lines.

I don't think we would have got all the way to Season 12 either without Mayim and Melissa's additions.  I clearly like some characters on this show way more than others, but I do value the contributions made by all 7 of them.

Agree. Howard would have ended up like Raj, with no story to tell, without Bernie. Married longer to Bernie than being Rajs significant other

And Sheldon needed someone other than Lenny to feed off and do his thing.

Could be if they make the finale a one hour program

Everyone has their own likes and dislikes! I lose interest in Sheldon/Shamy story lines.

Just a random question I want to ask you guys, with February 14th  being a Thursday, do you think they'll do a Valentine's episode?. If you do what do think it'll be like?.

I personally think due to how this season has gone so far it'll be mainly Shamy and Raj/Anu with Lenny & Howardette getting either minor scenes or just mentions of what they will be doing.

When will that episode be filmed? The taping and broadcast thread isn't up to date so I lost track.

Well, they did not do a Thanksgiving or Christmas episode only a Halloween one, so I think there may be a Valentines episode in some manner depending if it fits into a storyline. Wasn't Feb. 14 supposed to be Raj/Anu wedding? They might be prominent then in this episode.

It's just speculation on my part, with episodes being aired on a Thursday and valentines day being a Thursday I was thinking they might make the episode that airs that night a valentines episode. it will probably be episode 16 which I have  know idea when the taping for that will be.
