@RJ1013, did you see "The D & D Vortex" at this past Tuesday's taping? If so, could you share any scoop on the episode? Leonard is shown at Wil's house, but do any of the other guys get in/meet the celebrity guests? What are the girls up to?

Yes, they showed the D&D episode, which I thought was pretty funny. Here’s a short summary of the plot, though it probably sounds dull without the jokes:

Amy and Sheldon are appearing on Wil’s Professor Proton show, and Shatner is there. Sheldon is so excited to meet him that he throws up on him (off screen, of course). When Sheldon goes to apologize to Wil later on, he hears the D&D game going on inside the house.

After the guys find out, they all want to go, and they try to get Wheaton to invite them, but he declines. Eventually he does invite Leonard over the phone, insisting that Leonard cannot tell anyone else about it. Leonard goes and has so much fun that he has a hard time hiding his happiness the next day. He can’t resist telling Penny about some of it, and when he realizes that she could not care less about Shatner, he tells her about the rest of it. Penny didn’t care about Shatner or the game itself, but she is very enthused about Joe Manganiello.

Amy and Bernadette are equally enthused about Manganiello, particularly for his performance in “Magic Mike”, and the three girls approach Wil wanting an invite to the game as well.

Wil is displeased that Leonard didn’t keep things to himself, so he is disinvited. He has found another replacement for his game, which turns out to be the three girls.

In reality I agree with dj and Chrismo, spinoffs are for the fifth wheels of a show or recurring characters( Raj, Stuart, Kripke, Bert, Wil Wheaton) not the main characters.

I kind of agree. But, if they made a Lenny spin off, I'd watch that before "YS"!

Kaley and Johnny both have production companies.  Either or both could approach Chuck about this.  But I don't think either wants to immediately return to the regular grind of network television.

The only reason YS came to be is because Jim's team was flushing out ideas for show to pitch based on their real lives and Jim asked Chuck for his input.

Chuck jumped all over it. Chuck himself wasn't actively looking to do a prequel.

With all that, I still won't be watching "YS"!

I'd like to see a Lenny spinoff, but only if they move to a new and different place with a somewhat new way of life to get used to. And above all no more Shamy in the show.

So you want to take the best out of TBBT, leave it to the side and make a new show on two of the most uninteresting character in said show?

Interesting!

Well that is your prerogative. But I find Sheldon and Amy the two less interesting characters. But I don't discredit a spinoff based on that pair up. I Think people speculate about a Lenny spinoff. Because tbh they are the two characters where their is room for development still, and stories. I Don't think Shamy are the best from TBBT. Leonard and Sheldon are. Always have been always well be. I just can't see people tuning into watch a Shamy Show. They are over saturated as it is.

No some of us want to take what we consider the worst characters out of the show and make a new interesting show with Lenny.   Your mileage may vary.

I sincerely doubt that there are going to be any spin offs of any kind.

How does Wil make room for 3 girls in the game if he only had one seat?

I know real life Wil thinks this was his final time on set, but surely he'll have a spot in the finale. Not only does it seem like he's an afterthought against the other shiny names, but you're telling me his final plot also ignores his iconic history with Sheldon in place of being mad at Leonard?

The only spinoff I'd watch is a Raj spinoff (with different writers that actually know how to write someone of color into the framework)

Regardless of spinoffs, the glaring loose end is still the Lenny children question. Some comments that are probably from Lennies consider that the only satisfactory outcome is Penny changes her mind, and otherwise it's poor Leonard denied fatherhood and he will be sad about it forever. As a keen Lenny myself, I don't entirely agree. What matters is that Leonard should make a step change in their relationship by finding out what Penny's reason is. There is no other storyline that matters, so clear the decks for Lenny for once. Then if Leonard understands what Penny feels about children, as opposed to just respecting her right not to want them, maybe he can mature to a level where he doesn't feel a sense of loss about children because he truly shares Penny's feelings.

I always thought a Howardette spinoff could work, maybe in a few years time you could use some child actors as well as their children. It would of course be a very different show.

Logically for a spinoff to happen I think the wisest way to do it would be to have a couple move out of the area, maybe relocating for work in the finale.

I agree with @vonmar though, I don't think a spinoff will happen and most certainly not in the immediate future.

No, we want to keep Lenny the most interesting couple and get rid of shamy, the most uninteresting couple. Sheldon is the most uninteresting character in my opinion! If he ain't bitching, moaning or groaning, you can't tell he's in a scene! Again, that's my opinion and I'm sure others will disagree!

Occasionally I comment on cast members' acting ability. Of course, this refers only to comedy and romance, watching TBBT tells us nothing about what they could do in other modes. I mention this because I just saw If Beale Street could talk, and I really hope Regina King (Mrs Davis) wins the Oscar she's in for.

Agreed, she is a wonderful actress!

As usual an excellent analogy   I totally agree

Loose edds are a TBBT specialty.

I would not have expected The Conners. Seems like  anything could happen 10 or 20 years down the road.

Another Big Bang Theory news bulletin!

The Conference Valuation will be the only new episode in March, futon now lists March 14th as a repeat

http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch/big-bang-theory/listings/

This means when the Big Bang Theory returns April 4th, it will have to be new 5 weeks in a row before the 2-taped finale

No more hiatuses after March 28th then! But wow at just 3 newbies in February/March combined

Well, we only got three new episodes in January and February last year.   It's a function of how the schedule is.  They usually start with the last week in September, and then run October, November, and half of December.  That's not quite three months.  After the new year, you have January, February, March, April, and half of May,  4.5 months for basically the same number of episodes that are run in three months before the holidays (along with the two weeks off for March madness).  Which means more repeats in the second half of the season.

Okay veejay. Why are you confused about President's day? This day was created to honor the birth of the most important President in American history, George Washington. It was formally Washington's Day.

Veejay is not from the US.  So they may not be familiar with US specific holidays.   Presidents’ Day actually honors all presidents.  It used to be that there were two holidays, Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthdays.  The government realigned holidays in the 70s, (moving most of them to Mondays, for a three day weekend) or consolidating them, such as in the Presidents’ Day case.
