To be honest, Penny saying maybe someday to Leonard when it comes to kids reminds me of moms saying maybe next time when their kid is in the store whining for a new toy by the checkout counter.  It's let's drop this and move on.
I think talking about having kids is a lot more serious than a toy at the checkout stand

I don't think that it will be ever dropped here.  But I have to wonder, how much of the regular viewing audience do you think harks back to that line from Season One, Episode One and cares?  How many care about that line as opposed to caring about TBBT showcasing a couple in 2019 who may be on a path to being childless?

I think plenty of fans are  unhappy  with the never have a baby story.  But I suspect most would have been satisfied leaving it as a “someday” event.  The number who are specifically unhappy because of a single Leonard said - that has to be very small - of course they do replay that episode a lot.  I will be happy enough if Penny goes back to indecision and maybe someday.

I could live with that!

IMHO,  the same amount that really cares if Sheldon gets his Nobel!

They're happily married. Does that count for nothing?

So asymmetry storyline is unnecessary. Does that mean there not happily married? Why is enough for one couple but not the other?

The writers as mentioned many times put themselves in a box going back to the kiss. Then they followed their IMO stupidity with having Bernadette pregnant twice. That’s what caused the no baby storyline for Lenny.

Absolutely spot on and true!

Confused...why would that affect the Lenny story line?

Does that mean their story ends because they are happily married?  If that were the case they could have been written out after season 8 or 9

We’re they going to have a third pregnancy storyline when they have already done two? Would they have a Nobel prize storyline if they had one in the last two seasons for Raj and Leonard for example?

Why not?...To both questions

Then my prediction will come true, a Lenny divorce and Leonard has a few episodes left to find the mother of his children (reminds you of a different show?).

Just as likely as my prediction coming true. Sheldon dumps Amy for Paige and Paige is the mother of his children

Because people complained enough about two pregnancy storylines and even I can’t disagree. Same would have went for a Nobel Prize storyline in seasons 10 and 11

Leonard didn't express a desire for children in the first episode.  He dreamily said a sentence about an imagined future with the hot girl that he had just met the day she had just moved in across the hall.

It wasn't just the first episode.  It was also brought up later, as if it was a recurring thing.

Didn't Leonard want children in the first episode. So why would sheldon deserve a Nobel prize and Leonard not get what he wanted

I don’t think it’s about who deserves what they want - they’re not 6 yo kids who need a lollipop as a prize for being good little boys. Sheldon doesn’t deserve a Nobel prize but can end up achieving that logically as a story through individual excellence ( or as it turns out as a team with Amy). Whether the theory in the plot is scientifically worthy is another debate. Leonard OTOH doesn’t deserve to have a kid because it involves a shared commitment to an emotional decision by him AND his wife Penny.

Sheldon could have been written as achieving his series long dream of a Nobel without Amy; Leonard doesn’t get his dream realised without Penny. It’s a big difference in real life. What Leonard and Penny DESERVE as characters in a story is a well written story that explains why the final decision is what it is, which may still happen. But Leonard doesn’t deserve a baby just because he wanted one in the pilot. That’s not how life works in my experience.

And I’m a Lenny who wanted a Lenny baby but can accept it not happening if the story of the decision is written well.

I'm talking about a television program not real life. If it was real life i would agree with you

Who complained and why did they ? Our blokes do what crazy blokes do -- and also what normal blokes do. To me the appeal of the Big Bang People has been their underlying real-life experiences behind all their eccentricities, nerdiness, quirkinesses, phobias, insecurities, egotism and commitment to work. It's why I'll miss them. Most people in this world get married and we saw the men's courtships, engagements and so on over the years. Most couples have children and large numbers of families contain more than one child. Universities tend to have members on their academic staff who win awards. Shopkeepers have a hard time in the internet age. Actors and wannabes cease to flog dead horses and take up jobs. Normality comes to Crazyland as well as to Normalityville. I'd have thought it OTT to have no normality in their lives. I see no reason for anyone to complain.

I don't think they deserve a round of applause just for showing a childless couple for the sake of showing a childless couple and doing so in an IMO incredibly lousy way. It would've been a whole other story if they had Penny have this opinion or doubt wanting children around season 7 and have Leonard gradually come to terms with that, over a long enough time, and decide to marry her, convincing viewers that the couple won't carry this burden forever. At the very least they could've done the out of the blue change of mind better than "Oh I've had some thoughts over a few weeks and now I've changed my mind over a major life decision I haven't shown doubts about before."

Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Should Have Ended Up With Young Sheldon’s Paige

"…Unlike Amy (and Sheldon's mom, Mary) Paige would've called him out on his rude behavior, instead of giving him a free pass simply because he's "different.“…"

Since I don't watch "YS", I don't know who Paige is! But, I'll agree!

talking about how it is going to end ... my feeling is storywriters are developing leonard/penny story in a certain direction, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they separate in the end. it would be a shocker but take a look into last season and a half, not a lot works there anymore! but hey, on the other hand  isn't that "normal"? 😀

about sheldon/amy, yes, kids and about the nobel ... who cares, whatever they do there will be fine

howard/bernadette, they have their own life, two kids etc ..... nothing significantly changed there for several seasons and I do not see it changing in the end either

raj .. I find raj is fine as he is, but anything is possible there, but with anu? I do not think so!

stewart/denise, yes, they fit together and they are already together, marriage is imminent, in the season or "after"

families and the others, they are probably getting a short good-bye scene (simmilar to 2 1/2 men), wouldn't expect more

EDIT:  and then, it is chick lorre, there are going to drop a piano on someone .... probably in quite unexpected way 😁

I don't mind if Penny gets pregnant or not, however, her objections to having a child don't appear anywhere near as strong as those from Bernadette before she had two.

Could Sheldons grand mother make an appearance in the finale? I was very surprised there was no mention of meemaw at his wedding.

Will Chuck Lorre be seen as he was in the finale of Two & A Half men?

Maybe the plot will include a reason why the show has to end, like what happened in Seinfeld with the main cast going to prison. Something involving the military project or perhaps relocation to Mars?

or time travel - they invent a way to go to the future but cant get back
