Whats Shamys matarial? I don't think Shamy have that much of a personal story arch. The idea of a Lenny spinoff generates from seeing these characters co existing after the series ends. I just don't think their is enough broad appeal in the Shamy Dynamic to justify a spinoff, who would watch that? Not trying to entice anyone, I just don't think anyone would watch a Shamy spinoff.

I think the writers could have found more and better stories for Lenny from season 8 and on, as a couple and as individuals, if they made some more effort. I feel they didn't give that a fair shot, for them their marriage, actually their engagement, was their "end". They should've watched the CXG finale, "(Romantic) Love is not an end, it is a part of your life". Various married sitcom couples have/have had many, IMO good stories, Friends' Chandler and Monica, HIMYM's Marshall and Lilly, Modern Family's Phill and Claire, that's just to name a few.

I hope some day they tell us why rather than make us speculate.

I’m not looking for any spinoffs for any couple. I think all the couples need the others to feed off. Alone there would be something missing in their character. Spinoffs are rare successes. Frasier was an outlier and a complete change of circumstances and a new story to tell( he also wasn’t a main character ). I don’t consider Laverne and Shirley or Mork and Mindy spinoffs of Happy Days - they were briefly appearing characters that had a new story to tell and characters to learn about. Joanie loves Chachi OTOH was an atrocious and unnecessary spinoff of main characters we knew all we needed to know about. Joey was abysmal, AfterMASH worse ( Trapper John MD was completely different take on the MASH character and different actor.

Just not feeling the need for spinoffs. Would rather watch reruns of BBT like I’ve been doing religiously for years. Don’t want the characters legacies ruined by a bad spinoff.

I personally would never watch it. You really need all the characters for it to work. They are too boring alone. No offense to anyone, I just don't see any humor in their relationship. You need humor for a comedy to work. Nothing they do is out of the ordinary. Very typical relationship in my mind. If I wanted boring I just assume go to my brothers house and watch them raise the babies. They have a great but typical, boring life much like Lenny. They are by the way great parents, much like I assume Lenny would be. Lenny would be, could be great parents.

I have always seen them as the straight men in the show. I guess I always will...

I know it won't be a popular post. But it is being honest.

All great, strong shows and characters. Love them all! Love Marshall and Lilly😍

I agree. The character of the show has shifted completely one-sided since that time (approx. S8). It was so much more than just Sheldon before. But with his popularity and the writers' urge to add a romantic aspect to the comedy itself, the stories became increasingly mundane and predictable. It was more than obvious that the authors could not come to terms with this change.

Leonard: …and you wanna know the worst part? You don't understand what you did wrong because you can't conceive of something that you are not an expert in.
S2 - The White Asparagus Triangulation

After all, the TPTB were thrilled to present a reliable and necessary sidekick model in Lenny (the holy kitchen island also deserves praise).
From today's point of view I can only wonder about my naivety and hope towards the series. But thanks to the diversified help from this forum I'll endure everything to the near end.

The 5 stages of grief can apply to many situations, including a loss of a job or change in work situation.

I think you will see that in the cast, differing stages of grief over the show and their work coming to an end.

Johnny and Kaley have such great chemistry and flow, but IMO the writers failed to give them good stories. They are straight men characters, they have their quirks and faults but these are not extreme. That doesn't mean though that their story ended once they got engaged. IMO they should've given them more stories that put them in circumstances they could comment on and react to, not just have them watch and react to others' (mostly Sheldon/Shamy's) stories so much of the time. They also tried to derive humor from pitting them against each other, which to me failed miserably because it seemed so off, it didn't fit and seemed so arbitrary....

....These characters work best IMO when they have the same vibe and are together in their attitude to what surrounds them and happens to them (you don't have to look further back than the latest episode to see that), when their banter is playful and while it may comment on their differences it shows their similarities in spirit.

Oh, now you've put a big grin on my face. I hope Penny can illustrate this pretty well. 😊

I'd keep watching Shamy if they had new writers with new ideas It could coincide with YS (Which, yes I know Not all watch but some do) But, enough said because Jim is ready to move on and I totally don't blame him for wanting out I am looking forward to anything new he;s got coming

I like Stuart. He was a terrific recurring character and my recollection is that he became the “8th character” when the writers decided Raj needed a friend when Howard and Bernie got married and we had that weird story arc when Raj and Stuart became pathetic males who couldn’t talk to people and became a weak knockoff of the Howard and Raj S1-3 friendship. Then they gave Raj Emily and he became the annoying tenant/babysitter/Raj fill in/pathetic loser. In all of this he became a sad character which they are only rectifying now with the successful comic book shop/Denise relationship. Sadly he’s been developed more than Raj in some ways.

Also, Stuart was a useful tool from the beginning. He was in love with Penny and then there was a move-along moment when she called him by Leonard's name during a snog session. He was used to give Sheldon a kick up the backside by taking Amy out. Being acquainted with Wil Wheaton, Adam West and now a publisher has certainly come in handy for advancing plots.

He's the reason I got into watching at the beginning. He was unique as a character. Nerds, sex bomb air-headed blondes, foreign best friends, sleazy heart of gold guys...that has all been done over and over and over. Only Sheldon was something different.

I think Howardette spinoff would be interesting but don't know if that would last.  Simon and Melissa have great chemistry

I can't see that happening, but they do have great chemistry and both of them have perfect comedic timing.

I definitely would. I've posted my ideas for a premise two or three times.

Not me. They're boring without the other cast member to play off against. There's only so much bossy, scary wife and a husband that is afraid of his wife!

Definitely ! That wouldn't be enough. They'd need some storylines to do with their work in the community on the island or the peninsula. There would be other characters too, plus visits and Skype sessions from old friends.

Maybe, maybe not! They definitely need to play off someone other than each other!

Not me. For me it was the hot girl / nerd relationship. Rather being friends, neighbors, lovers or a married couple. To me, that was more interesting than Sheldon Cooper!

I was too old to be interested in romantic aspirations of delayed adolescent for dolly bird. It was the science antics such as freezing a breakfast banana that got me watching. Scientist goddaughter went to do her masters at Cambridge and wanted me to record episodes for her so I kept watching. It was Amy's backbone response to Sheldon's treatment of her that kept me interested after that.

I should have said 'mis treatment' up to the end of S8.
