Nope, that's the room for Hofstadter-junior 😝 (yep, I still have hope))

I kind of feel that maybe the real reason she is there is possibly Penny has spoke to her about her no-baby delaration and how it is disappointing Leonard. Maybe she wants some professional advice?

I would think Beverly is only going to be there to put Leonard down one last time

Yeah, for her doing that in person is better than by phone or Skype!

Could someone explain to me in the third to last episode ever there's a Stuart/Denise storyline?

Guess they need cool operator one more time! :sungum:

She was 'freaking out' and then yelling more than one line and not at Sheldon. Without the anti-perspirant references I'd hardly have known it was her.

That doesn't make her "out of character". It just makes her "having emotions". Let the girl freak out, for goodness sake. I thought the way she behaved was very in character for her.

"The Maternal Conclusion" Sounds like more ominous. Then just another running gag. And it is the penultimate episode. I damn sure don't want another Shamy Centric episode before the series final. They have dominated the last season as it is.

That would be great, but I don’t think that’s the reason of Beverly’s visit. Really hope though that this topic will come up somehow during her staying there :)

I see what you mean. She's been put in a very difficult, uncomfortable position. In her work life she's not accustomed to the idea of failure. She's been told she has responsibility for the progress of her entire sex in a field of science not her own but one she cares about for obvious reasons. Anybody would feel pressured.  We just don't see this behaviour from her as a rule.  She must have had all sorts of emotions over the years that they've not shown us. We've been shown her in angry mode, mostly with Sheldon and yelling one line, such as 'We're on the same planet ! ' and 'Please pass the butter !'.  There was the time she pushed him at Thanksgiving and the day she broke up with him when she said a bit more. We've not been shown her in this sort of state before that I can recall. I can't remember seeing her agitatedly  demonstrate this much stress before. Sheldon didn't know what to do because he's not used to seeing her like this. Moping in a dressing gown eating dry cereal he could join in with.

I call BS on the “Amy is representing the whole community of women scientists being recognised by winning Nobel prize” thing.
I know it’s in a different field, but they literally had Frances Arnold on last week’s episode as a female Chemistry Nobel winner.
And a woman ( Donna Strickland) won the Physics prize last year as well. And 6 Nobels for women in Medicine/Physiology in the last 15 years. 8 role models in science for female students to aspire to in the last 15 years is not quite the crisis being built into this plot. Feel it’s another forced add on to magnify this domination of Season 12 for yet another week of Shamy front and centre. Just not necessary IMHO.

It’s a bullshit plot device.  A Neurobiologists, with no formal training in string theory, possibly the most math intense theory in Physics,  would be incapable of any contribution, on the spur of the moment.  The math used for string theory, has won two people the Fields Medal and is used mostly, in theoretical investigations in Math.  Not something a neurobiologist would be able to look at and understand at first glance.

I think it is a terrible plot device too. Amy has turned into a career physicist . But then again,  own growth and development is a plot device for Sheldon .  It was the same during the shamy break up in season 9. This asymmetry plot is so badly written. There are some nice moments but the season has been devoid of enjoyable episodes. Why do we have to see again, Bernadette belittle and control Howard  ? Stuart/Denise overstaying at Howardette ? These plots are all so stale and bring nothing new to the table. The last 3-4 seasons, most episodes have become interchangable and boring.

My complaint is that the show has not been funny but rather boring. I would have preferred 24 group episodes instead. None of the plots have been interesting this season. While I am happy to have Shamy get  a Nobel nomination, it has been boring to watch. Very few lol moments for any character. Paintball, Halloween and the Baby expirements have been my favorites. Not much else to remember...

Yeah. It colors my whole body in a blush of shame what the TBTP trying to sell us as the final season. If someone were to ask me about the definition of a successful ensemble episode in this context, I would probably be just speechless. It's a real shame. 😕

D and D games was cute I did like the last one Also, liked when YS cast was in it... but it just seems the writers can't write humor anymore

The paintball episode was the best episode of the season IMO and was long overdue.  It was really funny and a true group episode.

Yes, it's not often she's shown in distress outside of when Sheldon fucks up which is exactly the point (and also the reason it's been a popular wish among fans). But we've seen glimpses of her self doubts and even being a bit irrational about it over the years (Isolation Permutation, anyone?), it's just that Amy as a character has been terribly neglected outside her relationship with Sheldon.

The worst thing I could say about this kind of story is that it comes like 3 years too late like so many plots in this show cause they just draw things out way too long.

The last years have tried to do better but that doesn't erase the long systematic discrimination of women in the field and the lack of recognition. There's still a lot of anxiety about getting girls into STEM to this day so that is real.

Speaking for someone who has a  daughter that is a junior in high school I tend to agree more with itwasdestined than April. Though April makes some valid points. I do think their has been discrimination against women in STEM for a long time. It was even discussed on the show 4 or 5 years ago when S, L, and H visited the junior high. In actuality this storyline is a step backwards from then and if anything as itwasdestined mentioned it should of been done 3 years ago. Not only that this storyline isn’t promoting women it’s promoting a man.

As to my daughter they have this school Districts GEMS program (Girls in Engineering Math and Science) in junior high. While interesting ,especially how numbers for women have changed, she didn’t get the point of the program. I think part of the reason it doesn’t relate to many girls anymore because their is no bias in her eyes.

And this is the biggest problem with the whole series.
