Same could be said Lenny. If they had kids. Amy and Sheldon will be great parents. No matter how smart or gifted. Sheldon loves Amy, and has shown great growth. They will be fine. Esoecially with Mary and MeeMa and Amy. And even Howard.
I'll have to disagree with you on this. Sheldon has always said he has superior genes and he's going to expect a brilliant "spawn" (Sheldons term not mine )

Sheldon also thinks everything he does is far and above. Why wouldn't he feel that way about His and Amy's gentic offspring. I am sure he will think them superior no matter if they are or aren't. They will be superior in his eyes because he made them.

As much as I want to flip-out and say "No, it is not fine, it can't be fine or alright", I was hoping that Penny's last/maiden name would be resolved in the series finale, and it would be nothing but a letdown if it isn't. Is Penny like a character on According to Jim? The last name of the family on that show was never revealed during its run. I would hate to be the longest-running series on primetime TV and still leave unanswered questions by the time of its (proper) conclusion.

I think it has been pointed out since your earlier post that one of the writers already said they have no intention of giving Penny's maiden name away. I'd say it is certain that some stuff will never be reveled. Penny's maiden name is one of the things I expect to remain hidden.

I can think of characters predating According to Jim that had no last name. First that come to mind are most of the Peanuts. Then there are most of the Muppets. Looking this up I found more. For example agent 99 from Get Smart.

Quote

Neither Agent 99’s first name or last name was ever disclosed on the show, in accordance with the wishes of series co-developer Buck Henry: “I always thought that 99 should have no name. I fought in the first or second year — I fought a battle with someone somewhere to keep her nameless. She stayed that way all through . . .”  from https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/the-game-of-the-name/

Then there is Columbo's first name.

Quote

With so many details of Lt. Columbo’s life and person deliberately obscured, his first name remains one of the enduring enigmas of series television. It has never been mentioned (or even hinted at) in the show itself, although the series has included a few in-jokes providing the lieutenant with opportunities to deftly deflect any inquiries about his given name. In one episode (“By Dawn’s Early Light”) Col. Lyle C. Rumford asks Columbo, “Do you have a first name?” to which the lieutenant responds, “I do; my wife is the only one who uses it.” In another episode (“It’s All in the Game”) Laura Staton poses the question more directly, inquiring “What’s your first name?” prompting Columbo to answer, “Lieutenant.”

More than likely dumber than a box of rocks like Missy and George Jr as per Sheldon's own words in describing them.

While Leonard thought of smart and beautiful kids Sheldon dreams his kids will be the new overlords of the world so I do think sheldon would be disappointed

Sheldon would be disappointed if his kids have an IQ of 150 or less!

Ok, a few things, personal attacks on the actors and crew are treated the same as personal attacks of other members, posts were hidden.  Opinions are fine, but, overly provocative opinion posts may be hidden, as a few were here.   Don't make your post about another poster, this includes comments about how others post, and/or  snarky comments about spelling and grammar errors,  a few of those were hidden also.

I rechecked, everything needing to be hidden, has been.    Not all negative comments need to be hidden.   Some were hidden because they quoted hidden posts.

In what world do you think Sheldon and Amy will be great parents? Their kids are going to need a trust fund just for therapy. They are NOT good parental material.

Amy and Sheldon (or  a semi normal  real version of them) would be god awful parents - but since the writers get to decide if they will be good parents or not - they will be fabulous.

Most people never thought he or she would have a girlfriend or boyfriend, fall in love,  move in together, get married or have a loving successful relationship. They rose to the occasion every time. Who is to say they won't or can't be successful parents?

They have beat the odds this far, certainly more than other couples on the show.

Howard beat the odds. Leonard was always destined to get a girl. Raj couldn't even talk to girls. Penny was always going to get a guy. Same with Bernie.

Well, check all data and facts, so you will find a result on the main question: Why?! 😉

None of them have had parenting experience. Other then Lenny. And Bernadette...

But I think Shamy and Lenny would hypothetically have different parenting styles. Shamy and Lenny seem more individuals in their relationships then Howard and Bernadette.

Ok, thank you 👌, you are are wonderful for explaining this to me. It is appreciated. I get that that not everyone thinks that Sheldon and Amy would be good parents. Not perfect. But who is?

I guess you want my reasoning or data on why I think they would be good parents?

They are in a loving, stable, relationship. They have good communication with one another. Meaning they both know they are on the same page about wanting kids and how they will be raised. Sheldon says 15 kids, but Amy will make him realize that 3 kids will fit his devisable by three desire.

Sheldon will be king of diaper changes, bathing and feeding, playtime and assisting with homework. Babies need a schedule. Who better than Sheldon for a timely schedule. Money is not an issue, so the baby will be well fed, nice home and plenty of toys.

Sheldon is not as good at emotional stuff but has come a long way. He is very loving and considerate towards Amy although he doesn't always know what to do in certain situations. Amy has really helped guide Sheldon in this area and I am sure she will continue to do so. She will guide Sheldon through what he doesn't do as well. If Amy has been patient enough and loving enough to help Sheldon as she has, I see no reason why she wouldn't show the same love and patience to a child.

Say what you will about Amy. But you can't deny her kindness and empathy.

Some say if the child is not a genius he won't be interested. I disagree. Sheldon will always think his children are better than others because he made them. He is in love with everything he creates or does. He sees no flaws in his work , or anything he touches. I don't see that changing over a child. For better or worse it is his progeny. I remember how thrilled he was to see his and Amy's expirament in the lab and how he enjoyed talking about it.

They have a wonderful group of friends who will no doubt be great honorary aunts and uncles who will be part of their life. Just as they are for Howard's kids. They will have a loving Mary and MeMaw. They have aunts and uncles who will influence them.

In the end they will make mistakes but be overall great parents.

I know I will get booed for Sheldon being  my favorite character and for seeing anything good in him.  But I am used it. So...

Throw your bombs at me now....

Some of the Peanuts characters actually do. Charlie and Sally Brown, Lucy and Linus Van Pelt, Franklin Armstrong and Violet Gray come immediately to mind. (The teachers were Miss Othmar and Miss Halverson even though you never saw them.)  Franklin had a whole carefully worked out back story, with a dad away in the service, when he was brought in, because people had written to Charles Schultz asking for an African American character to be added to the comic strip and he wanted it to be there for him to take ideas from before Franklin was introduced. In that spirit of diversity he also made Marcie Jewish.

I think this is spot on, as is the rest of Sah's posts. At least Sheldon and Amy discuss their problems as they arise and work through them. That helps enormously. And Sheldon knows from his own family that kids can be be vastly different, even with the same parents. As for them being awful parents, many people that you think aren't going to be good parents turn out fine and many people you think will be great parents crack up. It could go either way.

Maybe at the beginning, but, once it's obvious they're not a genius, the disappointment will set on him. Whereas Leonard will be happy no matter what their IQ's are when tested. Sheldon had everything given to him and loved by his mother, while we know how Beverly treated Leonard while growing and in the present!
