I didn’t have a problem with the makeover, at the end of the day it’s Amy’s choice and if she felt the desire to change her appearance with new clothing and a haircut then good for her! Millions of people change their style all the time. A new look can make you feel good and somewhat empowering so I have no problems with it whatsoever.

I agree.  I saw the finale as nothing but a fan-service, or as @Die Zimtzicke said it perfectly, a laundry list

So I actually saw Amy's makeover as one of the things on the list. I know not all of the fans like to see this, but I'm sure there were fans out there who have been wanting to see her change of style for a long time, not to mention they have been very vocal.

And Raj, that was a tragical ending for him, not that something bad happened him, no, it was that he had nothing else to do except for helping Amy change her style (didn't show, so no screen time, sorry dude)  and being a vehicle of a underwhelmed cameo. I like Sarah, but her cameo was not one of the good ones in the entire show. Sigh.

All things considered, I really count my blessings for being one of the fans that got (part of) what they want in this lovely fan-service feast...LOL.

I saw the final episode with Kaley and Johnny giving us a tour through the studio. That was interesting, but I actually hoped the final episode would be a real final episode with the characters instead of a grand tour.

What I did like was the fact that in episode 23 Leonard FINALLY hit Sheldon. I've been a fan of TBBT ever since it started, but the last couple of years I thought: "Why in the world doesn't Chuck Lorre think of something that'll turn Sheldon into a 'normal' human being. I'm a 61 years old man from The Netherlands. Believe me when I say I'm not agressive or a fighter, but even though TBBT was a sitcom (and one of the best ever), the character Sheldon became more and more annoying, and nobody ever told him what a piece of work he was. THAT would have been a fun and satisfying topic for a final episode.

But still: it's over. Here in Holland we'll probably be able to watch the entire series for the 10th time or so, since Veronica, the tv-station that habeen broadcasting TBBT ever since it started, doesn't seem to be able to buy some new sitcoms. OK, we've got "Man with a plan" now on Saturday nights, but Matt LeBlanc wasn't funny in 'Friends' and he still isn't in MWAP.

Except for reruns of TBBT they keep 'surprising' us with never ending reruns of 'Mom' (which I really like) and 'Two and a half men'. I stopped counting how many times Charlie took Alan and Jake in a couple of years ago.

Anyway: Warner Bros and CBS, thank you for TBBT.

I guess, being female, I react to Amy's makeover differently.

And to Penny suddenly being happy about being pregnant.

It's a reminder that the vast majority and most senior writers are male.

But neither is that big a deal.  Just not as I would have written it.

I find myself thinking that there are so many things they could have done with this show but did not.

Howard's half brother was a good character.

Raj's character should have been done better.

Raj's parents were great and then they disappeared.

I would like to have met one of Sheldon's dissertation advisers.

Sorry not to see Laurie Metcalf again, but she's Hillary on Broadway.

Penny's character was like plankton - it just got caught up in the flow of other people's dreams and plans.  I would have liked for her to date a professional athlete or big time author during her break-up with Leonard.  We only saw her with complete duds.  She's smart and funny - she could have done better.  And it would have been good to see her in a job she actually likes.  Everyone else loves their work, except for her.  Working for a local TV station, advertising firm, whatever.  Something she would like to do.

I thought Sheldon's hard time with the changes was completely realistic. He won't be okay with changes now just because he made it through some. That's not how it works. Sheldon will probably always have problem with change. He may get better, even much better, in dealing with it, but it will always disconcert him. He experiences changes in ways different than most other people. I think the problem is not in the plot but more in them not delving enough into Sheldon's issues, whatever they are in their eyes, which makes viewers judge him as an everyman, which he's not.

Exactly.

That was Penny's supposedly type guys. The writers had tunnel vision through out the run of the show. I, for one, am happy it ended like it did, Lenny together in love waiting for the birth of their smart and beautiful child!  :sungum:

Sheldon’s response was predictable, greatly disappointing but I fully expected it.

Truth be told the last couple of seasons has in some ways made me realise I actually don’t like Sheldon as much as I thought I did, maybe that is down to the writing?

I think it’s undeniable that you have seen more ‘old school’ Sheldon moments over the past couple of seasons since the show runner change. I think that’s been detrimental to the show and progress that has been shown of the years.

True there has always been examples of one step or two steps forward and one step back with him, but I think as seasons and essentially time has passed I think in some cases it’s hard to sell even justify some of those steps back, you can’t have a character even one like Sheldon make big strides and look at ease with it only for the sake of a story regress him.

Anyway the finale I thought was ok, Raj probably the only thing that super annoyed me (his whole story really hasn’t amounted to much has it?)

But this season as a whole wasn’t quite at the same level.

Raj is the only one who began as a jerk and ended up as one - going through a lady's handbag while she was asleep and then holding her hand  in public although she was a married woman. The others, although their early issues still show through at times, have progressed as they've matured.

True dat! But, Howard proved that the creepiness is still strong within him!

It wasn't the last episode, it was just an additional special. The last episose is "The Stockholm Syndrome", with the Nobel ceremomy.

Sorry about a short distraction...

Goodbye, Big Bang Theory! (Jimmy Kimmel Live)

Tonight on CBS, one of the most popular TV shows ever came to a close. It was the final episode of 'The Big Bang Theory,' and unfortunately for one of our audience members, he wasn't aware tonight was the big night.

Seriously, who's this guy? Is he one of us, one of us? 😁

I was surprised they nailed that very specific reference!

What do you mean? that was not the "final episode" that was a just a special retrospective. Many TV Shows since 1990 have done something like  that (A look back at the series) but usually it air before The final  episode.  Episode 23 and 24 was the Series Finale.

Haven't said much yet, just enjoying all the reactions and spreading likes. Just want to say that I thought the finale was great, which was a little surprising considering the less than perfect season. I was especially happy with the Lenny pregnancy.

When this forum finally winds down, I will very much miss interacting with my fellow TBBT fans as much as I will miss tuning in to the show week after week. It's been a fun and at times frustrating ride and I wouldn't change it for the world. I found support here through both the Lenny breakup, and my own battle with cancer (closing in on two years cancer free for those who were aware 🙂) and for that last, I am most thankful. That was pretty wordy for me, lol, but this is not good-bye. I plan on sojourning here for at least a little while longer.

You know, if you think about it, the Lenny baby is also Imaginary.  Barring a reboot or movie, we will never see Baby Hofstadter so it will only live in our imaginations.

Even in a movie, they could say the kid is with his/her grandparents and we could never see it.  That however can’t be said about the Wolowitz kids, we will know what they look like forever now, I’m glad Lorre put that scene in there.

Thanks for sharing. Damn, Leonard must have enjoyed the he** out of that slap!

It’s funny but he looks like he is waiting there in barely controlled anticipation.

Sorta like a batter at the plate. I was expecting Penny to pat him on the back and say "Nice One There Hofstadter"!

I stopped caring about Lenny as a couple after 3.19.  They can flip flop all they want that is just background noise as far as I am concerned. Since I am not expecting legitimate science stuff in the last episode I'll be watching more for an interesting guest or other references.

Jmo but I hope guest stars are used to a minimum

I guess we both got what we wanted. There was a guest but her part was minimal.

No, it's as real as the cast. The baby may not  be born as of yet, but it's a part of the show. Imaginary would be like Lenny dreamed the baby. That didn't happen, the writers made the baby real. Also, we never saw Halley or Michael until the finale!

And I personally thought the symmetry of Young Sheldon sitting there crying alone with no friends and no Hope as we segued in Young BBT ( obviously not chronological as Penny wouldn’t have even been born or a baby at bestemoji12.png) matched beautifully with Sheldon’s speech about the greatest friends in the world changing his life for the better.

I agree with this, but if you weren't watching regularly, the rest of the ep was super confusing. I don't watch it all the time but I see bits and pieces of it and I knew enough to keep up.

Well, this is fiction so they're all imaginary.

Very true, but the Hofstadter baby is now canon and in fan fiction we can make it a girl or a boy.
