Even outside my fan fic, I've maintained that some sort of twist was necessary to keep Leonard and Penny apart.  We had already seen Penny's feelings, and her regret at breaking up with Leonard.  Leonard didn't want to be too far from her, either.  But I don't think TPTB were ready to get them back together.  With Priya gone, and without some thing to keep L and P apart, it would have been rather silly not to get them together (think of how silly it became with Sheldon still living with them).   While it was a bit extreme, it did make their relationship awkward enough that they didn't get back together for another half a year.  Although much later, (season 8), we did find out everyone knew, I would have like to see the scene where Penny told Leonard.

Yes indeed it would have been beneficial to see Penny explain that night on-screen to Leonard. I believe when you say season 8 it was the episode with Emily, however we do not know what Raj told her about that night either. He probably embellished and bragged on how he bedded her. Another scene I would have liked to see was Leonard telling Raj to stop bragging about  it especially since Penny was now his fiance. But in typical TBBT fashion they left alot of things unsaid or unexplained for the viewers to surmise themselves.

The question from Bernadette where she asks Joke? was base on several comments by Penny prior to this, such as:

Are you kidding? You brought fancy wine and made fondue. I’ve slept with guys for less. It’s a joke. Based on real events.

Many Lennys were pissed off by that joke, cause they saw it as just another "slut Penny" comment. 

Thanks. It might be a line missed out in a pre-watershed airing on E4 in UK. I'm not sure whether I've ever heard it.

Penny has never been anything but honest about her tarty past. I can see why some Americans would be disturbed by the line because anyone young enough in the USA to be going to school would be below the age of consent, therefore a man twice her age would be committing a serious offence.

And that is exactly why that joke? was disgraceful and disturbing.  For the writers to insinuate that a 17 year old high school girl would go to a motel with a man double her age was the real offence.  But the writers had this theme they never could get rid of that Penny was a promiscuous teenager and then woman that became lame and totally unnecessary as she matured into an adult.

Not to drag this out again but going over this storyline there are a few things that Leonard should really be pissed about with Raj. I believe Raj knew that his sister was going back to India but never said anything to Leonard.  He also knew by Penny's own confession to him that night that she admitted she regretted breaking up with Leonard and still had deep feelings for him and missed him. Additionally, if he told Penny the real story the next day means he was not as drunk as Penny and maybe tried to take advantage of Penny in her intoxicated state. And lastly he asked Penny not to tell anyone about his pre-mature ejaculation for fear of embarrassment yet he bragged to anyone about how he bedded Penny. These items showed that Raj really was not a good friend and how desperate he was for companionship with a woman.

He definitely wasn't a good friend. He is a lot like Sheldon, everything was about for him. He could be the first to mock members of the gang, but didn't like being mocked. Don't forget him trying to take all the credit for the comet discovery. Penny discovered it or at least shared in the discovery. All the reasons you gave and the comet issue made me enjoy it when bad things happened to him. Sort of like Karma coming back to bite him in his rear end.

I know this was just rehashing of old stuff but these items lingered in the back of my mind and I had to put them down on paper.  I am hoping to write someday for anyone interested not exactly a list of grievances on the show but a list of unsaid, unexplained  and unresolved occurrances in the show that was not presented to the audience. Since I am a Lenny fan most of them would be about Penny and Leonard. This just gives me something to do to pass the time and not for any particular agenda.

I'll start it off with a couple. As far as I know, the tenure position was never resolved. Also that DNA structure that Sheldon made. How could Sheldon move it and nothing happens in the Nemoy pod cast episode, But, Leonard moves it in Episode 12/23 or 24 and all the marbles fall off? Just a couple questions I have had for a while.

The others told Penny he was an ass when he  didn't drink, she just didn't hear it. They were right in many ways, even up to the very last episode.

Has anyone seen Kaley in Bert Kreischmer's  The Cabin on Netflix.  This was a mindless and senseless hour that I can never get back.  What possessed Kaley to do this and when was this taped? It included Joel McHale and  comedienne Ms Pat who certainly can use enough cuss words to fill a dictionary.

Heard about, it but never seen it. I think most actors and actresses have done something bad like The Cabin, and then have asked themselves, what the hell they were thinking when they agreed to do it.

I thought so when  I learned about it. In US law it was about an illegal event and a potentially abusive one at that. Not the sort of thing to joke about.

Absolutely correct. An older male with a minor teenager is definitely not something to joke about. I feel very strongly about this subject as I have two daughters and fortunately they listened to me when they started dating.

That's a very interesting idea ! 

There is something I still don't undestand to this day. It's a minor thing regarding Leonard but it still pisses me off. In the " Scavenger Vortex" , why did Howard suddendly felt the need to take the piss out of Leonard for going to Princeton? It was so random. He had  never done it before and never did it again after that . It was really out of the blue and didn't make any sense ?! Princeton for god's sake. Is there some kind of rivalry between MIT and Princeton? Or was it just another opportunity to mock Leonard ? I thought it was totally uncalled for especially when Leonard never mocked Howard for " only having a master's in Engineering from MIT". 

 

Another thing that annoyed me is when the military confisacted the guys' project. We got to see the impact on Sheldon and Howard and yet again Leonard's feelings were ignored. It would have been nice to see how the whole thing affected him and see how Penny would try to help him deal with it.
