For much I love a show and be hard to let it go, I understand if it might be enough for an actor be the same character for twelve years.

There are others things to be explored  and a long life sitcom character might stay too much "glued" to an actor "skin" for future career projects. There are lots of actors in those shoes for years, some even ďedicated to other kind of job. I would not like that for tbbt cast though...

Anyway,  I think after twelve seasons we have seen lots of things from the lives of these characters. It could be any actor expressing that would not continue aboard. I dont blame Jim neither any of others that could decide the same. Imo it was a wise decision of ending the show as the cast would not be the usual. The show would not be the same without any of them imo.

So I am very thankfull for their work and dedication for tbbt be one of my favorite shows. I wont ever forget the fun because of it and because of fandom comunities like this forum. When I miss it, I have my dvds and surely the reruns will last for years. And friends for still talk about it as well :)

For now, I hope they can do an epic season finale for us always remember. I believe they will as it wont happen the stress of "s12 will be last season or not" . We know since first S12 taping. A great thing for our fan sanity and for season quality, if you ask me.

Its been great hopefully we get interviews with the cast in the next couple of days we can still follow jim and the rest of the cast instragram twitter who knows we might get another spinoff i know on facebook a lot of people are angry and sad

If an actor wants out they want out and I never thought the show could continue without Jim.

I see it as a somewhat risky move on his part as he is so invested in YS, without TBBT it will be interesting to see how YS a project he is involved in does. It's going to drop off, how far who knows.

He clearly has other irons in the fire and interests as well so maybe it's the right move for him.

First of all,I will be crying at the finale no matter how much I expected this. When season 10 started I really wanted the show to end right there, nice and gracefully. But after season 11 I said to my self "two more seasons please, just two".Turns out we are not getting them and somehow I'm feel more upset than I should have been.I don't understand Jim Parsons wanting ouy right now,he just always seemed so invested in tbbt and he also has ys so he could definitely stay for an extra year (which I truly feel that the current plot requires). It would make much more sense if this was a mutual decision between the main three since Johnny wasn't too keen last year and Kaley might want a family now.Btw...there will be even more tears if they fix the elevator, then I'll know it's over😭

I was a little surprised Jim didn't want to continue because of YS. But I can understand that. He's the one doing the most work there (the writers' fault) and 12 years is a lot. Also he may be feeling that he doesn't have much to grow with the character now or that it doesn't challenge him enough anymore. Sheldon has changed a lot.

What surprises me more is that they wanted TWO more seasons! Glad that didn't happen. As I said while I am sad to see it ending I do think it should, actually it should have ended with season 10 IMO (with the season itself being different because it would be the last one).

Series finale centers around Penny informing everyone she is pregnant.  Tag scene is after a 9 month time jump she goes into labor and uses the newly fixed elevator to go to the lobby to get in the car to have the baby.

But the thing is he was offered 50 million by the end of those 2 seasons I just don’t understand why he has to put the foot down

I agree that theater is his first love, but he has carefully diversified himself so that he has many irons is the fire right now.

I will always think his funniest movie was when he played a muppet, even though it only lasted a few minutes. The expressions he made were hilarious.

I don't think they could have gone on without Jim but Johnny definitely wanted to move on as well.

He's made enough money so that he'd never have to work another day in his life if he didn't want to and so have some of the others.

Super Asymmetry.

Well first, That it not ready to be submitted. It has to be peer reviewed and takes time to be checked. there are other procedures that have to be followed. Since TPTB have always followed accepted science procedures, I seriously doubt that will happen. Now, he could share a Nobel with Leonard on their project!

but I think it is pretty likely Jim wants to pursue other things.

but what is he pursuing? I highly doubt he will get a big movie role without his current title. In my opinion he made a horrible choice to quit right now instead of 2 years from now and land on the right foot with everyone instead of everyone being bitter angry.

Keep calm, everybody: 12 seasons and a movie.  Plot: The gang travels to London for Raj's elaborate, 7-day Hindu wedding during the autumn; and stress is high with wedding activities and upcoming Nobel prize nomination announcements, and more life change surprises for all.

I'm shocked they really thought they had material for 2 (!) more seasons... 😶

They can have all the material they want, but the cast needs to be on board.

Continuing with TBBT may cause him problems getting other roles because so many people are used to seeing him as Sheldon (my guess is it's already happening now).

Even if it is, he could of waited 2 years and then get as many roles as his heart desires

What is he pursuing? Most likely, he is pursuing a full-time stage career. If he's basing his decision on a hope of landing major movie roles it would be foolish. He's a talented, and accomplished actor, but it's unlikely he'll ever be cast in the lead role in a major film. JP has always been clear on his love for the stage, and he's already demonstrated to Broadway that he has the acting skills to shoulder a lead role as he has successfully headlined two hit Broadway shows.

There's no reason for any of the cast to be bitter, or angry, that JP has decided to end his participation on TBBT after this season. They have all benefited professionally and financially from their time on the show. Ending TBBT doesn't change their professional standing in any way. They will all move on to other projects and interests.

I thought it was CBS who wanted to land two more seasons with them? Not the other way around? They were willing to use almost 50 million to convince JP? Maybe I read wrong.

As far as I know, he has three movies scheduled that he will produce and act in, one of them needs to be shot partly in China, so he couldn't have made it during hiatuses. He also has some tv projects at different stage of evolution to produce, besides YS. Finally, he has said on many occasions he would like to develop a new play in Broadway and act in it for more than a few weeks during hiatus. Are those project going to be as successful and profitable as tbbt to him? Of course not, not even close, but evidently they are more stimulating  for him at this point of his career, when he can choose what to do.

Hey, they got 12 seasons. Better shows with cleverer ideas have come and gone in less than three seasons. ( The Good Place f’rinstance) They have done exceptional work here. And they have done a wonderful job of exploiting what it is to me an inexplicable attraction to a character that I would cross the road to avoid.

I’d just give them kudos. Almost no one has this level of success. And I’m not going to hold out any hopes for an L/P revival in the last moments, but that’d be a just outcome.

They had a damn good run. One of the top rated shows for 12 years is unthinkable. As you said KUDOS are deserved!
