Off topic, but "The Good Place" will have a third season. Although I believe it will be the last, as I don't see what they could do after that but who knows?

TBBT did an amazing thing indeed.

True. Only 24 hours in a day and you have to have time to spend your money or there's no point in earning more than you need to keep body and soul together. However, a remake of Miranda doesn't sound like a very good investment. Was The Golden Girls a remake of The Brighton Belles or was it vice versa ? G G did well in the US. I know Frasier actresses Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin set out to make a US version of The Vicar of Dibley but we never heard any more about it. There was talk of  the script of 'Allo 'Allo being sold to a US company during a writers' strike. Again, that was as much as we heard. All in all transatlantic transfer does not have a good track record.

The only really successful US remake of a British comedy that I can think of was the Archie Bunker one, ( All In The Family ? ) a very much toned-down and tamed version which in turn was bought by ITV IIRC and shown here. The BBC showed Dear John, USA with Judd Hirsch  but I don't know how it had been received over there. Is there a tax advantage in putting money into a loser ?

Don't know if there was any truth to this, but in all the articles that cite Jim as the one who did not want to continue with the show, one of them stated that CBS wanted a two year extension. Maybe that was where the line was drawn. If they would have negotiated for only a one year extension and as a final season maybe Jim and the others would have reconsidered.

I think THREE'S COMPANY counts as successful US remake.

Not heard of Sanford & Son. I knew The Office had been shown in the USA but I didn't know it was a remake. Three's Company rings a faint bell but I don't think I ever saw it.

It was the US version of MAN ABOUT THE HOUSE.  MAN ABOUT THE HOUSE had two spin offs, GEORGE AND MILDRED and ROBIN'S NEST.

THREE'S COMPANY had basically the same two spin offs (THREE'S A CROWD and THE ROPERS).

Thanks. I can imagine that sort of thing having an appeal anywhere in the world. There's been a revival of rag and bone men here recently. Jim should invest in something like that.

Thanks. I didn't watch any of those ITV sitcoms when they were on. I caught an episode of George and Mildred on cable a few weeks ago.

There's no reason for any of the cast to be bitter, or angry, that JP has decided to end his participation on TBBT after this season. I agree. I don't understand what this user is all upset about and why he attacking Jim Parson.

Johnny was also ready to leave too and want to move on to other things (presumably the Conners Spin Off depending o n how that works out but don't think it will last beyond season 1)  and Kaley was on the fence about it.  The fact is most of the cast was ready to move on but Johnny and Jim are the one who felt most strongly about ut.. Te show been on for 11 (now going 12 of course) Seasons. It not like the show ending after 3 seasons because Jim doesn't want to do it and the rest still do. Melissa just became a mother recently and Kaley probably want to start a family. 

Jim run the risk of being typecast which has pretty much already happened and will probably have a hard time finding different or new roles (like the guy who plays Urkel thought I think Jim will fair a little bit better)  but I see him going back to Stage and tHeatre. That is more his thing. Anyway there was a tiredness in some of the acting at times last season.  I would what some of these sites (like Entertainment Weekly) are writing with a grain of salt. No one really nows what goes or went on behind closed doors during these talks. 

Also the show had become to expensive for CBS.  We probably would have gotten shorter Season 13 if they decided to do one. It was a mutual decision between the cast, crew, CBS, Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner brothers to end the show not just  one person.  No one is to blame and I don't blame any of them for wanting to leave and move on. 

Be glad we are getting at least 1 more season and have the whole year to say goodbye and a  proper send off. We have the dVD's and tHe Reruns that will play for many years to come likely.  

The Show has had an amazing run. Most Sitcoms don't make it to 12 Seasons.  A lot of Sitcoms were abruptly canceled after many years (6+)  on the air without a proper goodbye. Be thankful this show is getting one.

For the people on social media saying that they’re glad The Big Bang Theory is ending and good riddance, why do they have to be so rude?! If they think that the show is not funny anymore and is boring, then don’t watch and comment on their posts. I personally still love the show and the cast. There are fans who are genuinely sad to see the show end so please be respectful! Geez. Who agrees?! I know a lot of people say that the show has gone downhill and not funny anymore but it’s been 12 seasons for crying out loud! They did pretty good for being on the air for so long. I know some people say the cast are not into it anymore, I don’t blame them cause it’s been many years. They want to move on. They wouldn’t have stayed for 12 seasons if they didn’t care. Lol. Trust me.

Are you talking about the People on Social Media like Twitter and Facebook and comment on News Articles?  You can like a show but be glad it ending (also sad to see it end at same time because you won't see your favorite characters every week anymore) after it been on air for many years. The Big Bang Theory had ran out of steam and writing had gone down over the last couple seasons. It time. It has run it course.  The Longevity of a show and Ratings doesn't always mean  quality

Yeah. I meant on Instagram, Facebook, etc. I know longevity and ratings don’t always mean quality but people can be so harsh about it though.:( I’m still gonna miss the show no matter what and The Big Bang Theory will always have a special place in my heart.❤️❤️❤️

Oh okay, will that  different. Those people were never fans and never like the show and likely were just replying to Stories that News and Entertainment Peges that they followed posted. They are allowed to have their opinions.

Yeah. Opinions are like noses. We all have them. Lol. I know people have their right to express their disappointment of the direction that show is going or the writing but sometimes people go too far and are harsh. I know that since the show has been on for so many years that it would not be the same as when it first started which some people can be pleased with that and some people who are not. People are allowed to say whatever they want about the show. that their right. Not everyone likes the same shows. THey weren't leaving the comments on the show official social media pages or Fan Groups. As long they are not being threatening. saying Good Riddance is not being rude depending on how it said and in what context. I said the same thing when the Pudding Rapist Guy (TV Actor) got the book thrown at him and will say it again when he hauled off to Prison

I know people have a right to say whatever they want to about the show and no. Not everyone likes the same shows but it’s sad that fans of the show are disappointed in the direction that the show is going and the writing which they have the right to show disappointment about that but I hate to see fans turn on the show because it’s not like how it use to be. I mean when a show has been on for 12 seasons, it’s obviously not gonna be the same as when it started. Oh well. That’s their opinion and I respect that. Please don’t be mad at me MTBigBangTheoryFan. Sorry that I upset you.:(
