That's what irks me most i.e. the manner the rest of the cast found out.  We hear all the time from all of them that they are close and there is a lot of love and respect between them, well if that is true I am not sure this sensitive and difficult decision was handled in a manner befitting that kind of relationship.

They are corporations, they are not supposed to be upset, they are supposed to be professional. Rev up PR, spin the story in a positive light and protect your talent.

And say what exactly?  The Heads of Warner Brothers and CBS programming are on record already saying they wanted the show to continue.  Should they now say it was a mutual decision?

They have 22 episodes in which to come up with ways of preparing gradually to write Sheldon out. They could develop some stronger plots for the others and seguey them into four separate but linked continuing series this time next year : The Medium Bang Theory, The Small Bang Theory, Professor Proton's Bangers and The Whimperers. He could be mentioned in any of them from time to time but be largely unseen, with the odd Skyped cameo appearance.

I don't know why they had to say it was a sudden decision though. Everyone knew it could happen and many people thought it would. Plus it was widely known if it was going to end it would be better to say that quickly.

Guess we will have to disagree on the baby aspect.  Also, I know they all knew this day would come but I think how sudden it was caught them all by surprise.

If they were to go the Penny-route, they could have Leonard plan a birthday trip to Omaha. I could see Leonard planning throwback activities to Penny's upbringing in NE, with him trying his hardest to fit into her world. I would love to see Katey Sagal back as "Susan." I also think Amy Davidson would be a great choice to play Penny's sister. I'm always up for more 8 Simple Rules tie-ins!

Would like to see that as well  Btw, was watching a country music show and saw Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland. If they ever cast someone to play Penny's older sister she is almost the exact image of Kaley.

I think YS would continue to do well if the children stayed the same age, but they won't. Soon they'll be the age when things go wrong between the parents before George dies. Sheldon will be off to university at the end of this season. A good point at which to break off, if only for a few years.

I'd would have expected 11 year old Sheldon starting university would be more interesting than 9 year old Sheldon starting high school.  JP may have some plan for this. I don't recall where Sheldon does his first degree.

I don’t see how that would get folks less mad at him.  It would just substantiate what I think is still just a rumor about it being Jim’s decision.

I'll bet almost anything that THAT will not happen.

If we got to a Season 14, the overall story would suffer even more. They'd either add more and more invisible babies or stall on it altogether. They would start copying the scripts of reruns word for word. No full time actress added for Raj either.

Jim Parsons probably saw how many wheels on the train would spin. The end of last season wrapped up his character evolution. All that's left is the shiny science award.

Every character has an easy wrap-up if it's just written already. The finale will likely be a one hour flash forward fest too, like most sitcom finales do.

It could have ended like any other enterprise at any time. The end always comes as a surprise to those who don’t make the decision.  CBS can make the cartoon though, I’d imagine. Only animated - or virtual - performers don’t get tired of running on a treadmill.

I have some sympathy for those who can’t immediately come to terms with a show ending. Not a whole heap, but some. They have a season to brace. They are maybe fortunate.

I wonder if Sheldon is going to get a piano dropped on him in the last episode.  Lorre could have him written as a support character the rest of the season if he is actually mad at him and for us Lenny’s it could mean that Kaley and Johnny get some real time to strut their comedy talent.

 i agree they have put jim the bad guy here and its  getting worse before i saw a headline big bang ending because Sheldon doesent want to do it anymore

yes it has gone quiet no cast members putting things up nothing from warner bros cbs chuck lorre i know i clasping at straws here maybe they might be reconsidering ther decision i know that's unlikely but people are saying to jim i never seen so mad people its got get back cbs warner bros dosent it

It seems to me if he told TPTB that he was done at the end of the season he should told the rest of his cast mates. We can criticize TPTB but JP wasn’t perfect on how he handled it either.

I know I haven't been on this forum for a while, but I feel the need to chime in my opinion.  First I firmly believe that any actor has a right to do whatever they feel is best for their own career and future so JP's deciding to call it quits is his prerogative.  

That being said, I don't think it was fair to turn a ensemble into a pretty much "one man show" where if he left, TPTB would feel there was NO show.  That is pretty disrespectful to the other 6 stars of the show who have been there from the beginning or at least the majority of the seasons.  And it seems kind of weird (if true) that some of the cast was not notified sooner.  It's like saying "well now that JP is out, we don't think you could carry a show even though we made the whole show about his character".  That's how I see it....
