Okay here are some thoughts I had after reading all of the recent comments here:

1. Who says the production decided that if Jim and only Jim doesn't want to continue then it's over? Maybe they would have done the same were it Johnny or Kaley. We don't know. At this point I think every character being written out would change the show vastly, though to different extents. Maybe Raj would make the least impact. I think even Melissa's maternal leave made a difference. I totally understand TBBT won't be TBBT without Sheldon, even if we were in the first seasons. The same goes, IMO, for Leonard and Penny. I wouldn't want a TBBT without Sheldon. Maybe a spin-off with these characters and no Sheldon or Sheldon and Amy, but not TBBT. Although the spin-off I would most like to see at this point is one of their children as young adults.

2. I'm not at all sure Jim was the only one who wanted out. I think Johnny could have made a similar decision after more negotiations and consideration. I also haven't seen anything from him regarding all of this. Maybe it's because he can identify with Jim, who knows. It's a pitty Jim is getting all the fire.

3. I think it is better having fans who are upset the show is ending than having no one upset about that. If the latter happened it would be an indication the show has gone wayyyy downhill and will end in disgrace.

4. I totally respect Jim's decision, I think him having YS makes it even more brave and shows integrity, and I think it is better for the show to end with season 12. Of course it makes me sad but I think it would have just remain stagnant and repetitive.

Agree that JP is getting alot of unfair criticism because of all the stories that he was the one who did not want to return. In my eyes I think  tptb are mostly at fault here when they made this wonderful ensemble show and turned it into the Sheldon/Shamy show.  Chuck Lorre said that if any of the big three leads were to leave then they would end it.  That is why he pulled the plug without even asking any of the other cast members how they felt about it.  Somehow I believe that Lorre, WB and CBS had already made a deal but they could not convince JP to stay.  As far as any of the others, Johnny or Kaley, they probably did not get a chance to express what they thought.  I also think if WB/CBS offered only a one year deal JP and the others might have considered that. Guess we will never know. Hopefully, this final season will bring lasting memories to all fans.

Totally better...they can plan the whole season knowing instead of finding out halfway through and having to scramble to wrap it up...or not wrap it up. Anyone remember how they ended Soap?

I don't know as I don't care for the Simpsons. Only know what I hear. That's why I didn't comment on how the is now or earlier. Just Live VS Animated!

Truthfully, I haven’t watch it in many years. It okay bit I wouldn’t say it a favorite of mime. It had some funny episodes. I only ever watch reruns of it which again been years since I watch one.

You right though. Animated Sitcoms very different from Live Action. only posted what i heard from people who watch it.

Same with Damas. They also have a better sell by date then Sitcoms.

Okay a couple of things. Please stop your tirade. Ashton Kutcher ain't gonna be Sheldon and there will be no Season 13.

Also you need to get your facts straight before posting. Charlie Sheen did not quit Two and a Half Men; he was fired for drug abuse. And also Jim never quit either, he was more than likely approached by an Chuck Lorre who had already made up his mind about ending the show and Jim unfortunately seems like the fall person who agreed with Lorre when the question was posed to him if he wanted to continue on and the media (who has at best a 75% success rate when it comes to news about movies and tv shows), are dragging him through the dirt, when really it is a producer and creators idea of when they would like to end a series, not an actors.

So please stop. Please

Hate to tell you, but have to disagree. Ashton Kutcher may be a fine actor, but not for TBBT.

Ashton is not a fine actor. He's a damned lucky actor. JMHO.

If true then I know where to send the thank you! card.  Headlines sell ads. It’s great publicity for the show. More will watch because it’s the last chance, likely.

Seriously, this is not a crime, and it gives them the unusual opportunity to plot the last season. They might include lots of fan serving tributes.  It could be great! And it had to end sometime.

I think we would be on some lvl releived the show is ending to some degree. I mean First Six season were the shows prime years. But since S7 the show imo has gradually declined. Which has been said a billion times lol. In some way I am glad a final season has now been announced. So that their is no uncertainity anymore. Meaning the writers can now just plan out episodes. And focus on writing quality episodes. Now knowing theirs an end point. IF your partial to Lenny you should be really pleased. I'll be sad come May 2019. But this i good, Opposed to renewing the show in 3 year cycles. That was kinda a mistake in retrospect. Hence the writing getting complacent. And for the record I Don't think the show could do it without Jim or Johnny. Be like That 70's Show. When they tried to move forward without Kelso and Foreman. I just honestly think the shows had an amazing run. And its the right time to call it a day. IF it wasent Jim, I have a feeling Johnny might have caused it to come to a head too. So no point placing blame here.

Yes ! I rang the ITV to ask when the next episode was going to be as it wasn't in the TV Times. When they said the most recent episode shown was the last one made by the American TV company I was staggered. They were in the middle of a story. The next thing we saw was 'Benson' which was a spinoff and we never heard how the Soap plot was resolved.

There are fans of the show and there are those who can't stand it.  That's reality, not everyone likes everything.

Even though the show TBBT is 12 years in and is still drawing huge numbers of viewers, there are going to be those who mock the show.

Jim has a very powerful PR firm on retainer, I'm sure that they will take care of him.

What's a Firefly? Is that the same as a Lightning Bug? If it's a TV show, then I never seen it!

I watched the series on Netflix after hearing the references on tbbt.

Quote

Episodes from (http://bigbangtheory.wikia.com/wiki/Firefly)

In "The Terminator Decoupling" (S02E17), Raj says to Summer Glau, "Come on. When you were on T.V in Firefly, you were actually in space."

In "The Large Hadron Collision" (S03E15), Sheldon starts a game of Traitors with Leonard. Round two includes Leonard, Darth Vader and Rupert Murdoch. Sheldon includes Rupert Murdoch because "he owns Fox, and they canceled Firefly."

In "The Staircase Implementation" (S03E22), a flashback shows Sheldon and Leonard working out their roommate agreement. In the "television and movies" section, Sheldon decrees that their Friday nights shall be spent watching Firefly, assuming it'll be on for years.

In "The Hawking Excitation" (S05E21), Sheldon is begging Howard to introduce him to Stephen Hawking, but according to Raj, the first time Sheldon ever begged for anything was when he begged FOX not to cancel Firefly.

It was a very popular, yet ill-fated TV series on Fox. That ran for one season. Sheldon referenced I Think in Season One. Saying how that show is going to be on for a long time. Like TBBT huh.
