The most egregious thing to come from that panel IMO was that Penny's job again is no closer to a resolution and yet as rightly pointed out to me by a friend that for the past couple of seasons we get a Penny hates her job storyline, scene or piece of dialogue in an episode and I bet we get another in Season 12.

It's a plot device for other stories and yet it could actually provide a nice mini storyline arc (mainly for Penny but also could include her partner or friends as well) if done right and given some attention.

Oh and the writers have me thinking that Leonard her husband who knows she is stuck in a job she hates absolutely kiboshed that career change with his Gates stunt.

Personally, I think you're wrong. I would say more but I don't want to get placed in the doghouse again. Have a nice day!

If they had a honeymoon don’t you think the writers would tell us

I don't know. There are many things the writers do not tell us.

That is possible. Even probable.

Nah. Not even conceivable in my honest opinion. But, I'm probably biased as I am a Lenny shipper.

Do you have an explanation as to what they are trying to do with Penny's job then based on what they are saying?

Nope, it doesn't matter what I think to the writers. I and everyone else is stuck with whatever crap comes out of the writer's room.

No need to be rude. Can you come up with a more plausible theory? It is just a theory after all.

Facts are stated at the Dark Lenny Thread.

The writers have already forgotten the Gates episode. Do you really believe their going to discuss Penny’s job? Shamy is suppose to have a honeymoon and Amy’s parents are suppose to visit the rest of the gang. Sheldon’s childhood friend from YS is suppose to be on this season. What have they mentioned for Lenny? Nothing I’ve heard

Don’t forget Dr Cooper and Dr Fowler’s brilliant discovery just prior to being married. There was also mention of that being continued at the end of Season 11.....And nothing for Leonard and Penny....

I think the original point was that Penny's career is just a plot device. Gates Excitation was a terrible episode for Penny IMO.  Leonard knew full well she hates her job and wanted the PR job, yet he went behind her back and his behavior could have potentially ruin  her chances. He might not have done that intentionally but it didn't do her any favors either. It was for comedy and the writers don't take her career as seriously.

While I think he definitely shouldn't have gone behind her back, I think he was under the impression that Gates wouldn't know he was her husband so it wouldn't hurt his chances. He was convinced he would not meet Gates through Penny.

I don't see how what Leonard did would effect her chance at the pr job. As she had already done the work needed. It was at the reception afterwards that Gates recognized Leonard. So unless he complained to Penny's boss about it which i think is unlikely .Then it had no effect on her chances of getting the pr job.All he did was embarrass Penny.

In normal times it would have happened like this, however the writers thought it would be funny with Leonard getting caught and being made out to be an uncaring husband. I'm wondering what anti Lenny crap will come out of that writers room this season.

And that's the problem the stories for Lenny just feel like fillers nothing more now.

I would agree unless the writers deciede for Penny not getting the PR job and they blame Leonard's actions as the main reason.

I really enjoyed that episode due to Sheldon looking like a fool running around trying to meet Bill Gates and Leonard/Howard sending him on wild goose chases in search of Mr. Gates.

Good resume of the situation.

Personally I never expect to hear about the PR job again. It will be like the tenure ep.
