To the bolded portion: I wonder how much Melissa's actual pregnancies had to do with those of her character's?  If anyone knows, please share if you like.

As to the remainder, I agree.  Many may forget now (thankfully, we had Bitcoin last year to help remind) the anguish that they each went through.  Especially Penny who seemingly suffered alone (her "it means I wish  you weren't going" at the end of Season 2 is a seminal moment).  To have that journey be complete in a final Season 12 would, for many, include an acknowledgment of imminent children.  I personally don't need to see a baby swaddled in Penny's arms with a proud Leonard peering at the bundle.  I don't need a "flash-forward" seeing one or two or three of the Hofstadter's "smart and beautiful" children.  Just a smile from Penny to Leonard as she looks at a pregnancy test.  Maybe a whisper in husband's ear with Leonard erupting in happiness yelling "twins!" as their portion of The Big Bang Theory fades to black.  perhaps a tender touc of a just beginning baby bump by Penny as she looks at Leonard, whose attention is elsewhere (for reference, watch Mary Hatch Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life" as she and George Bailey send the Martini family to their new home).

In short no grand gestures are required for this viewer and Lenny lover.  Save that for that other couple who need to declare that they are the greatest, most wonderful, most devoted pair ever ("don't worry, you're happy.  We took a test").

Peace, out.

Wow, Well stated! Especially the bold comments!

We know for sure that Melissa's second pregnancy was the reason for Bernadette's second pregnancy. It's been discussed in interviews and there's no doubt.

As for whether Melissa's first was the reason for Bernadette's first pregnancy we can only speculate. Molaro tried to sell it as something spontaneous he just threw in but it could just as well be a cover story for the real reason. Melissa sadly miscarried but there could have been a time frame where everything seemed to go fine and she let her bosses know and the pregnancy was a way to work around that. But again, this is really just speculation.

I noticed a cheeky smile after your last remark. 😉

If they suddenly have Lenny not wanting kids it would proably be the "Killing of The Mother" of this show for me, probably worse because I'm more invested.

I want to make clear that this is not a general saying about people having children. I'm all for people not wanting children not having them, not everybody has to have children. This is about the characters and what has been established about them.

I really hope we would get some info on this subject soon and find out Holland was just phrasing it that way to get attention.

ETA: It would also be the ultimate bow to Sheldon, with his "imaginary" remark. Please no.

It would be really sad if this happens but I wouldn't be surprised with these writers.

The bad part about this is that they had Bernadette on several occasions say she did not want children.  Even when pregnant with Halley there was a time that she was unsure.  They took the news about Michael Neil with a little bit of terror at having another child so soon----Howard even got a vasectomy.

After having Penny (and Leonard) on record speaking about them having children in their future; after having the "smart and beautiful babies" phrase in the pilot---Having one or both of them now at this late hour not want children is a shock.....

And after all these years it would certainly be a disservice to Lenny fans.  Almost everything  I read on what fans would like to see happen in season 12 is for Penny to get pregnant. I just cannot fathom how they can go any other way for them.

Bernadette agreed to have children provided she'd be the one to go to work. It was discussed when they were engaged and again when they were married. Lenny have only hinted at it in passing. We've never seen them have a proper discussion.

This is true  They never had, at least on camera, a serious discussion about having children.  TPTB always left them off with a joke: one was after Kareoke and Leonard asked Penny does she ever think about it and she replies "Yeah sure someday" then they scroll to asshat Sheldon on the couch with a drawing on his face, another time they made light of their discussion was when Leonard received a  xmas card from his brother and asked Penny and she responded with a joke.  When was the last time they had a serious discussion about anything?  Maybe when Zack offered her the job at his company but again they ended it with that ridiculous thumbs up gesture instead of them giving support and love to each other.

“Killing of the Mother” doesn’t compare to this. What happened there should happen here. There’s nothing with Lenny that compares to that. To me Sheldon saying “real” should be the last words on the show.

My speculation on this was that Melissa actually was pregnant the first time and they decided to write in. Then she miscarried but they could not show that on the show. Too sensitive a topic for a comedy. When she was pregnant the second time they had a decision to make: either write it in again or make situations where she would hide her pregnancy.  IMO, they went the wrong way and thus probably squeezed Penny and Leonard out of a baby storyline if that was intended. Like I said this is speculation on my part but if true I give all the credit in the world to Melissa Rauch for her portrayal. It had to be very difficult ordeal to go through.

Just my opinion but it should have avoided the first time and hidden the second time

Howard and Bernadette's discussion also had jokes, it's a sitcom. And it was also a general discussion, nothing specific, a "some day" thing.

Would be great to see maybe a story arc of them trying to conceive. There could be many comedic situations with this storyline and then Penny finally announcing she is pregnant.

God, I hope not. I am sick of pregnancy storylines entirely.

I hope we don't see anyone pressuring Penny into having children. That's something she and Leonard need to seriously discuss together and decide whether or not they both want them.

Thank you. I would hope so. If we HAVE to put up with that, it definitely needs to be discussed.

Wish we'd see Raj's folks again.

I'd love to see them as many times as they can be there. They make me laugh. it could just be a few minutes on screen or an actual visit and I'd be fine with it.

There is only one voice the writers hear. It's not lenny. Wyatt will be a ant in the grass and lenny will be a little whisper that will go away & nowhere after about 2 out of 18 mins and then back to normal service.

This maybe a rant, but i am a bit mad that they wear the same clothes almost every DVD poster, and now the season 12 poster has the same clothes, i want costumes back like season 6 and 4. it is the FINAL season. please let there be a good costume change for the last season 🙏👁️‍🗨️

I agree that Howardette having two pregnancy storylines was dumb. I don't think most of the audience would of cared. They needed a storyline, and that was that. Problem is they have kinda overblow babies on the show now. Taking kinda away from the BIG Penny storyline. I don't think the show needs another pregnancy storyline. I Don't need to see a whole season of Leonard and Penny mauling over whether or not they want kids, and putting pressured on Penny etc. That is why I would prefer an unplanned pregnancy maybe near the end.
