It is what these two amazing actors do. Often they get little of substance, unless in the service/set-up of that other character. But still as shown here just walking in a scene while the other character is droning on, this moment squeaks through. Bravo to them!

Johnny and Kaley have always had a great chemistry working together!

I am not an enthusiastic Kaley/Penny fan when it comes to how the show makes her look. I don't like a lot of her clothes (either too sloppy or overly sexualized) and I don't like it when they do her hair in a way that emphasizes her dark roots. Melissa can be very cute, but again, I don't usually like the way they dress her. Mayim can look very nice when she wants to. I've seen her look nice outside the show and a few times on the show. The photoshoot she did in Israel and the dress she wore when she went out with Dave come immediately to mind, but they insist on continuing to dress her ridiculously most of the time. But I hate to see looks be the reason to like or dislike a character. I hope that's not what you mean.

That's why we're still so excited. Without them, I definitely wouldn't have watched the past seasons.

Looks have nothing to do with liking the character. I just find her as the most talented actress in the show. Followed by Melissa then Mayim. Don't get me wrong, they are all talented actresses, I feel Kaley's the most talented and love how she portrays Penny.

But your statement was specific. You said Kaley was the most beautiful of the three and that Mayim was the third best looking of the three, so that's why I went in that direction. You didn't get into talent until a later post. But this is probably not the best place to discuss that since this thread is only for Dark Lenny, so I am going to withdraw.

The original post was a response to TPTB pushing Amy into the lead romantic character. Penny's always had that distinction. IMHO looks have a large part of that discussion. Others will disagree, but that's how I feel.

While I think you're right about the actresses' looks, it's actually KC's acting that makes Penny so adorable and the only character who should be the romantic heroine. IMO she is the outstanding comic-light romantic actress not just of TBBT but of any sitcom I've seen (I can't remember what there was before Cheers). She has unique star quality, and considering how she's been wasted for the last few seasons it would have been better if she'd left TBBT and perhaps made films. There are equally beautiful actresses out there but none, I believe, equally talented in that genre.

While MB is of course a first-class supporting actress, she just can't play the romantic heroine. A & S have no chemistry whatsoever, and MB seems incapable of projecting any sex appeal. This is a matter of acting, not just looks. (To illustrate what I mean, I don't supppose many have seen both the British TV serial Tutti Frutti starring Robbie Coltrane and EmmaThompson among others, and Peter's Friends, starring Stephen Fry and Emma T. Emma T was very sexy in Tutti Frutti, and frighteningly unattractive in Peter's Friends. This was achieved by acting, not make-up).

Penny looked great in that green dress whilst also wearing the locket, just a shame we didn't get any Lenny alone time in the entire episode.

When it comes to milestone episodes for me they go like this:

1st- 100th The Recombination Hypothesis

2nd-250th The Tenant Disassociation

3rd-50th The Gorilla Experiment

4th-150th The Locomotive Manipulation

5th-200th The Celebration Experimentation.

And my wife gets peeved every time she sees that scene with Beverly telling Penny and Leonard that Sheldon came to her 60th birthday party where even Leonard's brother & sister attended and he and Penny did not even know about it.  That was just disgraceful and I probably would never have spoken to my mom again if she treated me that way.  And then Sheldon not telling Leonard about it was just as disgraceful.......I guess Sheldon can keep a secret   as long as it benefits him.  If I was Leonard I would have told Sheldon that him and Penny are moving the hell out of there!

I'm afraid it's only  very recently,despite reading posts for three years and watching TBBT from the beginning, that I've grokked that there were ever any great romances to follow, let alone that there were any romantic heroines. It was never clear to me that Lenny would end up together until they did. The penny has just dropped that fans would be following Leonard and Penny through their ups and downs and their chopping and changing,  hoping  in time they'd make it. That's why the Lennzillas complain about Shamy's  airtime when L and P aren't shown doing what Lennys want to see. Now I get it.

Howardette's courtship was so short it was hardly noticeable, and Sheldon treated Amy so atrociously for years that if they didn't mention it from time to time it was scarcely discernible that Shamy were in a relationship until Amy declared it over.

Of the three women, Penny is the one who's gone through the most changes and is the most varied character. Yes, Amy changed, but in her case it was one development, a growing up and coming out of her shell.

I saw both Tutti-Frutti and Peter's Friends.

Well if that is how you saw it , it's fine everyone has their own opinion.

I agree with you on the Howardette front, there entire relationship moved so fast , after they got back together.

The Shamy, Their actual relationship only started in 5x10 yet in 8x24 Amy says do you believe it's been five years since our first date , and Sheldon later calls it their anniversary .So whilst it had been five years since their first date they had not been in a five year relationship. It would be like Lenny celebrating that it had been ten years since their first date at the end of season eleven , and calling it their ten year anniversary even though they haven't been in a relationship that long. 

As for Lenny I believe it was always obvious to some extent they would be together, they both got jealous of the other if one of them was dating someone else. Also during Leonard's relationship with Priya , Penny didn't cope very well with it , so whilst they had their ups and downs they where always going end up being together imo.

I agree with all that. 

Bold, yes, it's obvious to me now with hindsight. It's just that as the story unfolded over the years there was just so much else going on I didn't notice L & P's slowly gradually becoming each other's S.O.

I  get it! Unlike the other couples, Lenny was slow getting together due to Penny's tendencies in having relationships. Not to mention her commitment issues. Leonard has been her longest running relationship blowing past her fiasco's with Kurt and Mike. Plus, she seems completely happy with her asthmatic ass of a husband!

Yeah, she kind of stayed away from her other exes. Except for Zack. She did give Kurt a second chance when he paid back that money he owed her!

Ok so I just watched the Consummation Deviation here in the uk. Is it just me or were there some major inconsistencies? Leonard tells Howard and raj first sex with Penny was awesome and yet as I recall they both agreed it was “not that great” “fine” and “okay”

My guess is no. They get paid to read the script and act it out. To them it's just a job.
