Another wasted opportunity... ...I think it was a mutual confusion. They've lived too long with this strange one-of-a-kind. 😀 Yeah! There were a lot of missing opportunities. I think Penny gave Sheldon more advice than Leonard gave to Amy. Again the fear factor over Amy changing her mind. Sheldon has a whole lot of crazy to him. They (5 remaining cast) get paid damn good money for 2 minuets of air time and to watch Jim and Mayim bust their rear ends remember their lines. I believe that's a win-win situation! This could be an eye opener. Just read an article that says CBS has revealed that season 12 will explore Sheldon sexually harassing 6 research assistants but still keeps his job! They say the story arc will span the entire season and will show that there might be some credibility to the accusations but he is "far too important to the university" to fire him. The article also states that in YS it will explore Sheldon's frustration with women in his early years. I guess another way to tie in the shows. Well, I guess all our theories about this being the Sheldon/Shamy show will come true..........how depressing

Thank you so much. Had that been the case it would have been horrible, not believable an a total destruction of the Sheldon character. granted it did seem too far fetched to be real, but nice to know for a fact that it isn't so. Tensor
Here's the real funny part. Someone over at TBBT Wikia saw it and took it for real. They then put it up as a summary of episode 1 for season 12. Someone else, realizing what it was, went back and pulled the summary.

They get paid good money for a couple minutes and watch Jim and Mayim work extra hard! And they do work hard. I can't blame Jim and Mayim for what's happening. I can't blame Jim and Mayim personally for any of this and I can't understand why anyone would. 21 hours ago, Swedish Chef said: I highly doubt that this is going to happen if you look back at previous seasons. Unfortunately, such fun highlights of a once extraordinary comedy in such a nostalgic worship thread (you know what I'm going for) are no longer desired. I believe 7 was when the writers started messing with Lenny to make Shamy the better couple. Then the stupid episode about the couples test in the magazine where shamy was the best couple an Lenny was below Raj/Cinnamon. To me, that was a complete waste of 20 some odd minutes. I mean the commercials were better than that episode. Basically all you mentioned was the writers dissing Lenny. I've rewatched the second half on S7 and I still can't see any Penny snark. This was when they got engaged, after all. In fact the only thing I don'[t like about S7 is the very last scene. P & L are back in 4A after leaving S at the train station, and instead of their being able to start enjoying having the apartment to themselves, a suitable season finale, Amy is there to disrupt things with her infantile violence. Why the hell is she there at all? I enjoyed the story in 803 with S's relationship quantification. It was made clear that it was utter nonsense and at that stage Shamy's relationship is still a joke. The rot set in in 808, altho perhaps not recognisable at the time. But 803 also brought out Penny's continuing insecurities, beautifully acted of course. At that time the writers were still giving KC something to get her teeth into. But there's something that bugs me whenever I watch that ep: since no-one calls S out on his basic mistake re the US Constitution, what's the point of it? Die Zimtzicke
I may be wrong, but I don't think the writers deliberately consider Shamy the better couple. They just didn't want to work with Lenny anymore. They didn't care about Lenny anymore. So they moved on to Shamy, and to a lesser extent to Howardette. I don't think they get malicious. I think they get bored with what they are doing and it's easier to move on to something else than work to change it, especially when the ratings are still better than anyone probably hoped they would be.
