[Spoilers] Season 12 Dark Lenny Thread

It was about a year ago at this time and I just finished watching 11.24. The Shamy wedding. It was wonderful and marvelous. A really amazing television wedding. It was then that I told myself yes. They can write and produce and tape a proper wedding episode. An episode where the only interruption (prior to the ceremony) was shut down immediately by Mrs Hofstater. A wedding a fan can dream of. In considering what Sheldon and Amy were given as opposed to what my One True Pair were not, I decided to just accept Leonard and Penny and their remarkable 12 year journey. From The Hamburger Postulate to The Holographic Excitation, The 43 Peculiarity and The Closet Reconfiguration. All the way to The Bitcoin Reconfiguration and beyond, I’ll always want to spend time with them. I’ll miss the quick looks, the wonderful body language. I’ll think of “it means I wish you weren’t going” and “she loves me!” . How a young woman without wanting to knew about the Death Star what Gallifrey was and Who came from there. I’ll think of a young man who acted heroically without his intended knowing and silently watching someone else receive a reward from her. The looks at each other in that wonderful hallway when they thought things were done. That same hallway where we witnessed at least five Mississippi ‘s and where she finally, finally admitted to herself and to him the depth of her feelings. 

I’ll always seek them out. Watch them in all of their incarnations. Even the dreadful Seasons 8 and 10 and 7. (I really did not like much of 7–The true beginning of the undermining of L). I’ll miss new stories of them. Of the relationship that I, a now 62 year old man acting like a crazy fan, will treasure for the rest of my days. I’m sad to leave the continuing story Leonard and Penny Hofstadter. Of the personalities and the wonderful friendship of Mr Galecki and Ms Cuoco/Mrs Cook. We’ll always have 2311 North Los Robles Avenue, Pasadena, California.

So with it been covered in so many episodes with the conclusion, as far as i know, has not happened yet ,  i think he will get the Nobel Prize.  As i can't see them dedicating so much time this season on a story arc only for it to end in disappointment, and lets not forget it is Sheldon after all, he will be given his dreams even when others are denied theirs. 

To make your comments clearer I have made an unofficial count of the episodes. For seasons 10 and 11 there were 48 episodes. By my count Sheldon/Shamy were featured in 27 of them, Lenny in 13 and the balance were either Howardette, Raj or an ensemble episode. So far for this season 12 there are 19 episodes counting tonight and Sheldon/Shamy have been featured in 12 of them, with I believe more to go (no.21), Lenny in 5 and the balance ensemble episodes  So, that makes a total of 39 episodes for Sheldon/Shamy, 17 for Lenny and 11 episodes for Howardette, Raj and ensemble episodes.  Not a very fair equity and drives home your point of the excessive plotlines for Sheldon/Shamy

As you can see, many of us are upset with what the writers have done with Lenny, and we have this thread to share those feelings.

Personally for the time being I don't see any grey there, nothing has changed since 12×03. There's still time but I've been disappointed by these writers so many times that I personally don't expect anything. I'll have to pretend this season never happened and stick to fanfiction...

It is trully sad to read how many of us love so much of the Lenny story and how the writers had deeply disappointed and upset us. I will never understand their decisions regarding Lenny in this last season. I had hopes with it being the last season we will finally get some nice Lenny developments and then...

If Chuck wasn't happy with them he would have let them know. It's not what I expected for a last season but those people care about ratings and the ratings have still been high. Chuck wants to go out on top and he is. So, unfortunately, he probably has no issue with any of this.

Not for me. What upsets me is not Penny's not wanting kids, but that L & P just leave it at that. Leonard has to respect Penny's decision, obvs, but he should try to get to the bottom of her feeling of not wanting kids. It would be IC for P not to fully understand her own feelings here. If they really got to understand P's feelings that in itself would be a big thing, growth in their relationship. If this led to P wanting kids after all, so much the better, but the main thing IMO is that the Lenny relationship shouldn't be  static.

It's happened before, that something important comes up in Lenny's life and the story drops it and cuts to another couple with zero chemistry whose "love" has never been made believable. Eg the ep in the cabin in the woods where P told L she hated her job.

I can certainly agree with you  as I have always thought there is some underlying reason why she does not want children. But, I kind of have lost hope on this topic ever being explained because the time is short for the end and at this point if they do try to explain it will be rushed and without any impact.

Think the writers put an end to it with an exclamation point when Penny hugged her Dad and Leonard. For me that was the end to it. Since then it’s been helping the Shamy from Kitchen Island HQ! The Lenny story is over. Long live Amy the career physicist!

If you watch for substantial Lenny only, then you’re done. ( Leonard gets one more visit from mommy and Penny reached her peak with the attempted poaching at the convention a few episodes back)
If you watch for cute Lenny moments and tidbits, there’s still a pulse.
If you’re expecting Shamy to step back from centre stage, good luck with that.
If you watch the show for everyone like me, then business as usual with an occasional moan about wtf they’ve done to Lenny and why Amy has dumped her long standing celebrated career in neurobiology to become the poster girl for female physicists in Nobel land!

Okay i need to ask you guys a question, as i don't read TR mainly to stop me from not watching an episode .But after watching the last episode which was just awful. I want to know in the next three episodes 20,21, 22 do Lenny actually get a plot or are they going to continue being Shamy sidekicks?, just a yes or no will do no need to elaborate.

Yes, episodes 20 and 22 are Leonard-centric (we don’t have a TR for 22 though, but it’s clear from the description )

The penultimate episode well be a Lenny episode apparently.

Flashback to the murder mystery episode of S7 when Leonard and Penny differ on who should follow the other and drop their careers spurred on by Rajs future scenario for them. The writer of the article assumes it’s just a given Lenny will finish the show moving out of Pasadena based on Leonard finding a job elsewhere. However, unlike the fanciful dream of actress superstardom Penny thought meant Leonard would drop everything to follow her around the world, Penny now has a real job she is successful at and currently enjoying and proud of.

 

Enter finale conflict - what if Penny doesn’t want to leave her job and Leonard gets a great job interstate or overseas? WTF writers!?[emoji35]

What about the other Raj’s scenario where they both live in New York? 😜 

Anyway, I think if they move, they only do it together, and even if Penny has some doubts on the way, it’s fine, it’s a big desicion to make. And I’ll be glad if they move and stop being sidekicks to their friends 24/7

I’ll be glad if THEY move too. It’s a great finale for them if they choose freedom from solving all of Shamy’s problems. I just don’t feel comfortable about potential conflict they throw in because that’s what they write for Lenny stories. Penny decides no kids, Leonard decides job elsewhere, Both without consultation.

Yes, them not discussing important issues bothers me too... but hopefully in the final episode writers will give Lenny what they clearly deserve

I do agree it's another example of them not talking to each other. I think this is, again, due to the writers not thinkimg through what they write. To me they were going for comedic over-correction (Leonard exaggeratedly doing what he wants without considering others' feelings) and did not take into account that it is yet another example of Lenny not talkimg to each other about major decisions, which makes them look bad and not so happy as the writers claim they are.

Just another example of the way the writers mistreat Lenny while showing all the love to shamy!
