Tensor
As the season started last night, this is the first post in the Season 12 ratings thread. Similar to the last couple of years, here are the plans for the ratings, I hope to have the Live + 3 and the Live + 7 on Mondays. However, last year, due to some consolidation of online television sites, I lost the Live + 3 and Live + 7 at times. I'm hoping to get those all the time this year. While they will be dated for Mondays, they may get updated over the weekend. Tuesday will have the top five programs for the previous week for demo and viewers. Also, around noon, although it may go up earlier. This is really put out on Tuesday, but with the overnights and finals, I may not get to it until Wednesday. Wednesday will have the syndication ratings for two weeks previous. Again, around noon. This is similar to the the top ten from the previous week. It actually comes out on Wednesday, and if I'm not occupied, It'll go up then, but I'm not going to claim it will be up on Wednesday. Thursday will usually be an off day, but I will occasionally write a post on some kind of ratings information. Friday will have the the Live + Same Day ratings. This includes the overnights, including households, demo, and viewers, along with the final daily ratings for TBBT. Households is usually out around 9:30-10 AM EST. The overnight demo and viewers is usually out around 11:30 AM EST. The final daily ratings are usually out around 4:30-5:30 PM EST. I've been looking around, hoping to get some more breakouts, but it isn't easy. Other members, if they have the data, have provided the ratings for other countries. In the past members have provided ratings from Canada, Germany, and The United Kingdom. While the date and times listed above are the usual times I get the ratings, holidays, and various other things sometimes delay the information. If it will be delayed (or even not available), I usually try to let everyone know with a post. I usually have tried, for the last several years, to start this thread a week or two before the season. I do that so I can put up a post on what exactly those terms (Live + SD, Live + 7, demo, etc) mean, and how the ratings are gathered, so new members, or those who don't know those terms, will be able to follow along. I'll also normally have a post on how TBBT did last year (I did one at the end of the year, but I'll put a shortened version here), compared to 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-2017 along with how it did compared to other shows last year. There will also be some information on how TBBT repeats did last year (hint, the repeat ratings were higher than the average of all the first run shows). Unfortunately, this year brought Hurricane Irma and has thrown my schedule off a bit. I will get to the those post I mentioned later this month and the beginning of October. I apologize for the delay. Also, sometime toward the last week of September, to the first couple of weeks of October, , I usually get an estimate of the ad rates for the coming year and I have done a post comparing the previous years and the ten shows with the highest ad rates. Fortunately, those aren't out yet, so I'm not behind. If there are any questions, feel free to ask, in the thread, and I'll do my best to answer them. Tensor
Week 01 Early Household Ratings; 25 September, 2018 Shows indicated with an asterisk (*) are repeat. Chrismo
You're the numbers expert but doesn't that make TBBT down roughly 20% and YS down 30%? Edited September 25, 2018 by Chrismo
Jonny
Season 10 finale had a big cliffhanger so the Season 11 opener was going to get big ratings. Not sure it is necessarily fair to compare opener ratings in this case. If I was CBS what would concern me is those YS ratings and how the show will fare with TBBT not leading it in going forward. Die Zimtzicke
I know several people who didn't realize it was on last night and plan to see it Thursday. Not sure how they could not know, but they said they didn't.

Tensor
Week 01 Final Ratings For Tuesday, September 26, 2018. For broadcasts, 25 September, 2018 At 8:00 PM, the new episode of TBBT, 12.01, The Conjugal Configuration , brought in a 2.5, with 12.92 million people, up a tenth in demo and up 210,000 viewers from the overnights. This was down 1.6 in demo and down 4.73 million viewers, from last years premiere. In first place, for demo, was TBBT with that 2.5. In second was Manifest with a 2.2, even with the overnights, and down 1.6 from last years number 2 show (Young Sheldon). In third was The Voice, with a 2.0, even with the overnights, but down six tenths from last years number three show (The Voice at 2.6) For viewers, TBBT was number one with those 12.92 million viewers. Young Sheldon was second with 10.58 million, up 30,000 from the overnights, but down 6.63 million from last year's number 2 (Young Sheldon) . Manifest was in third at 10.40 million viewers, up 90,000 from the overnights, but down 820,000 viewers from last year. The takeaway is that both TBBT and Young Sheldon lost multiple millions of viewers from last seasons premiere, while the third place show was down less than a million. Same with demo, TBBT was down 1.6 in demo, The second place show (Manifest) was also down 1.6 from last years number 2 show. But last year's number 2 show, Young Sheldon, was down 2.1 from last years premiere (it finished with a 1.7 demo today) . The third place show (last year and this year) The Voice, meanwhile, only dropped six tenths. Tensor

If the big cliffhanger can be used to claim the show is doing well in ratings, then the big cliffhanger and be used to claim there is a problem with the drop in ratings. 12 hours ago, Jonny said: If I was CBS what would concern me is those YS ratings and how the show will fare with TBBT not leading it in going forward. Yes, those YS ratings are troubling. What's going to happen next year, when the built in audience from TBBT is no longer supplying people to watch YS. Last year, TBBT had a final demo of 4.1, YS had a demo of 3.8, only three tenths less. This year, TBBT had a demo of 2.5, and YS had a demo of 1.7, eight tenths less. The situation was worse with total viewers. Last year YS lost around 350-400k in viewers from TBBT. This year, YS lost over 2 million viewers from TBBT. 11 hours ago, Swedish Chef said: I don't really know, but these rating numbers for Tbbt feels pretty low to be a season premiere. Tensor
The final ratings for TBBT on Thursday, 27 September were 2.2 demo 12.04 million viewers. Both of these were up a bit form the overnights (it was below 12 Million in the overnights) Ratings for Thursday were down 0.3 in demo and down 880,000 viewers from the Premiere on Monday. I've been busy with several things and I'll get to the usual ratings posts (I have placeholder posts that are currently hidden so they will be in their proper places) sometime over the next week, I hope. Tensor
Last year, CBS only had seven games, and NBC had the other six or seven, so there were times when the show went up against football. They were all in the high 2s (2.7-2.9). This was down I'll have a better idea when I see the Live + 3 and Live + 7, but so far, this season for the show is not starting out well. This is Us was down just under a quarter (23%) from last years premiere. TBBT was down almost 40% (39%) from last year. For info, YS was at 1.6 In terms of viewers, the show hasn't been this low (12.04 and under 12 million in the overnights) since the second season.. As I was telling someone else, I have a strong suspicion, based on how other years have gone, that TBBT will be in the mid ones (1.5 or so) for demo and YS will be fractional (under a 1.0) by the end of the year. bfm
I do not like what the writers are doing with the show right now, but I'm surprised it is THIS low, given that it is already known to be and advertised as the last season.

SRAM
Here is the thing, the only fans that we read in the media are the more vocal fans, the ones that have a definite opinion and want to make it known. However, how much of the fan base do they really represent, 10%, maybe more or less? What do the fans not posting think, maybe they were drawn to the original story of the group of nerds and Penny, or the nerd and cheerleader story, Sheldon being only comic relief to those stories. Therefore, now that it is a Sheldon Show these fans are leaving more and more as the show centers more and more on Sheldon.

Totally agree most fans aren't where they can post. That is a super important point. I liked the group of nerds, and still like ensemble eps best, but I didn't see Sheldon as comic relief only in the beginning. Everyone was reacting to him most of the time, or he was reacting to them. To me comic relief is something silly that happens in a serious situation to lighten things up and relieve the dramatic tension.
