Comedies do age pretty quickly cause humour and what is acceptable changes so fast and TBBT will be (and I guess depending on who you ask already is) suffering the same fate. I agree on that, but that doesn't mean they won't have new fans.

I was talking about how well the writing holds up with today's sensibilities and we've already agreed that it shows its age and the humour wouldn't work if it were a new show. People (re)discovering the show because they have dozens of hours to kill on Netflix doesn't change that.

Then sorry for misunderstanding, you wrote about how TBBT will fare and then about Friends aging poorly so I took it as a contrast. Although I think getting new, younger fans does show that there are enough elements that still work.

As the most viewed, subscription based TV Show on Netflix in the entire UK. So I would say it is a bit more than a few ppl having time to kill. It has clearly expanded its audience. As for show aging. Culturally it has. But I still find the situations and jokes are still so relatable. Which is prob the shows appeal in 2018, its universal. As for TBBT and similarities to Friends. Maybe via Penny giving birth. But I Dont think it well be all that similar. Edited August 29, 2018 by 3ku11

I partially agree. Shows can show their age and still be somewhat amusing. New fans are turning in for shows like The Monkees, the Munsters, the Addams Family The Brady Bunch and a lot of those other old shows every day but doesn't mean they are still timely. I was astounded a few years back when I found my youngest daughter and her high school friends watching the Partridge Family. They were just flipping around and found it and were amused by it.
