To me, "I could care less" means I care less than the other poster cares, or more likely I don't care at all.

This is a minor example of Two nations divided by a common language.

Indeed. For learners of English : the correct form when you don't care at all is 'I couldn't care less'.  In the USA it's common to omit the 'n't'  but it's a mistake and makes no sense.

I totally agree. If you could care less, then you could care less, and that means you could also care more.

I been speaking English for almost 63 years. I say it and print it how I see fit. You don't like how I say it, that's your prerogative. It don't make sense to you, but to this old, Southern Red-neck, it makes plumb good sense. Your  English is your English, mine is good ole Southern English. So I guess we will disagree here!!!!

Can you hire a car, without taking/having insurance for it?

Even if you can, the very idea of not insuring a Batmoblie is frightening ! Do you think Penny was joking ?

To each their own point of view.

Driving any uninsured vehicle is stupid in the extreme.

Never mind the cost of the vehicle you are driving, what if you cause an accident which kills or cripples someone? You could be facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit.

That's why, here in the UK, uninsured driving is treated as very serious matter, comparable with Drink Driving.

Absolutely, always. And each is as valid as anyone else's.

I agree even if I disagree with the point of view!
