I smiled at Leonard's costume but since I laughed at it last week in the preview all it got was a smile during the actual episode.

The after party scene saved the Lenny plot, but I just didn't buy it. I usually love Kaley' s acting but she really phoned that scene in. It just didn't come across as sincere. I was left wondering if she was telling the truth or just saying what Leonard wanted to hear.

I was disappointed in Howard's Sheldon impression I expected Simon to nail it but he missed it by a mile.

The Raj/Anu, Bert and Stuart parts were purely filler and contributed nothing to the episode.

The Howardette and Shamy plot was not at all funny and simply made me wonder why these people are "friends",  shamy as Howard and Bernie were just painful to watch.

I give it a 2 out of 10 the last ever Halloween episode was a completely wasted by TPTB and my expectations for the "FINAL SEASON" are now lower than ever.

I actually liked the Lenny parts. I actually believed Penny when she said she didn’t want their first kiss when she was drunk. The lead up to me backed it up. The pre episode clip threw me into an unnecessary frenzy. The rest of the episode I’m with you on. JMO the fight never should of happened. The bit with Howard dressing up should of ended there. I have been watching the show 12 years I know everyone’s issues. BTW I agree with critique of Simon’s impression.

I rated the episode as "good". It was funnier than the previous two episodes for sure, mainly because the costumes were amazing, but TBH I hoped in something better. A lighthearted episode focused on the Halloween party would have been better than the Shamy/Howardette drama we got. How many times has Bernie to say  she became tough because she was the smallest girl growing up or Sheldon's feelings have to be hurt? Also, I think it was unnecessary (and above all a recycled plot from the Parking Spot Escalation, thanks goodness nobody got injured this time) that Amy talked to Bernie about Howard's costume and asked her to make him apologize. I get that it's a running joke for both Bernie and Amy to treat their husbands like children, but this time simply it wasn't funny. The tag, instead, was very funny, I was already jumping on my chair for the fact Amy was, once again in the episode, mothering Sheldon, I didn't see that coming at all! Lenny plot had a cute ending, I liked it, probably I would have cut the pumpkin joke, which was unnecessarily gross, but what she said at the end of the party made up for that.

All in all, I see the episode as a half missed opportunity, they spent weeks (according to Jessica Radloff's interview with Holland) in preparing it, they could have put those costumes at better use.

Yeah. As much as the writers captured themselves on the tiniest external details (see the statement in Glamour), the more the content and the jokes seem to have gone off the rails. I found Sheldon's "revenge" and Shamy / Howardette's whiny behavior more embarrassing than funny.

Funniest episode for TBBT in a while. First very good of the season I think (perhaps a little generous). I had no trouble buying Penny's explanation once given.

Simon was great. Many of the costumes were great.

I agree. that why sometimes we need to watch the  whole episode and not make judgments off of 1 clip or trailer that runs less than a minute. Penny made a reasonable explanation that make sense. I believe ehr.   all in all, I thought it was a funny episode. Thee best one of the season so far. I glad we got a one more Halloween Episodes

I thought the idea of Howard impersonating Sheldon and, as a revenge, Shamy impersonating Howardette was hilarious. I would have cut all the whining around that, though...We get it, those people had traumas and hurt feelings growing up, but it's a damn Halloween episode, can we just lighten up a bit?

The Big Band Theory Recap: The Last Halloween

"On to the most fun stuff in an episode that I expected more from...

...Again, it all fell flat, and the very best takeaway of the final Big Bang Theory Halloween is this: Raj was dressed in a robe, lace collar, and earrings, i.e. “Kooth Bader Ginsburg.” And his bride-to-be, Anu? She’s wearing a sandwich board with the Constitution on it. Underneath, she’s sporting the “Bill of Tights.”
If nothing else, there’s always room for a good pun."

I have a question, Penny said their first kiss was when she gave Leonard a birthday party, was that after Shrodingers cat, or when they returned from the artic? they kissed in those episodes...sorry I dont know the episode names

Their first kiss was in S1 ep 6 or 7 when Penny threw a Halloween party.

What I thought and posted the other day is the feeling I got after this one, the lack of friendship this season on display is starting to really annoy me.

Even though I would rate it better than recent episodes on a comedy level the gags and the costumes simply weren't enough, it was more mean spirited and petty BS.

I would have gone for something way more light-hearted and fun, I wouldn't call this a genuinely fun episode nor did it give me a happy feeling after watching it. I can think of countless episodes when just a thought of a scene or moment makes me immediately smile and just feel good, those type of episodes that trigger that kind of emotional response in me are so scarce this season.

Well, that's was the best episode in a while and the first in a long time that was actually a positive surprise for me.

First of all, Simon Helberg is just so awesome!!! His impressions are amazing, I couldn't stop laughing when he was imitating Sheldon, and Jim speaking right after him showed how dead-on he was with his voice and speech. What an incredible talent!

They pointed out the gang all cross lines laughing at each other, although knowing the writers it's not going to stop. I think that scene with Bernadette and Sheldon was too long, it wasn't touching enough to be worth it. Also, they should've made a stronger point about Sheldon insulting the others, instead they kind of escaped that when they took a turn to focus on Bernadette's voice and how she had to be mean (which is nothing new). But I don't have high expectations of these writers so from my POV that's okay for them.

Raj and Anu seem to be hitting it off! But I think it's still early to judge (pun not intended).

Where's Denise? They could have written a line to explain.

Now for Lenny:

I'm happy to be proven wrong. Does this mean I now think the writers do treat them well? No, there are too many examples to the other side, and I will still keep my hopes very very low, but this one was definitely a positive surprise.

In-narrative, did it make sense for Penny to make Leonard think she didn't remember, and continuing to do so, seeing that it hurt him? Not really. It would've made much more sense for her to confess as soon as she saw that it hurt him, especially when she didn't make their "first kiss" seem so great (that was the episode low for me, the "I felt sorry for you" sequence, and maybe I just imagined it but I think there was unease in the audience's response there). But it was kind of a publicity stunt, and probably also a way to give them something to do, so I'll let that slide.

I won't go into too much detail in this thread. Their first scene was very cute, I would be annoyed by the assumption she would go as "sexy" something, but given Penny's previous costumes I can see why Leonard made that assumption. I don't think he would have made it with the other women.

It wa certainly very nice to see that Penny does care about their "milestones", their history. In fact, she kind if wanted to rewrite it to not have her taking advantage of him (in a way) in it. I doubt "wore me down" will stop, but there's that.

Also, Leonard enjoying his costume so much both amused me and made me happy ❤️

Writers - More of this, please!

I have just watched it...

It is true I laughed a couple of times , the costumes were cute and fun but in light of another poor plot...it was not enough for me for I thought it was good.  I really feel sorry for feeling this way about my favourite comedy show in its last season *sigh*

TPTB should've just let Shamy dressed as "Howardette", AND Howardette dressed as "Shamy", make them imitate each other, we and the rest of the gang as the judges to see how similar to the original characters their imitation were, WITHOUT the boring theme of "I had a troubled childhood, other kids all made fun of me back then"...ugh...

On the positive side, I laughed very hard in this episode, definitely the funniest one this season so far.

I thought this episode was pretty funny, I laughed a lot.

Yeah, the friendship dynamics seemed a bit strained but it wasn't that bad either. In the end all's well as usual.

I also thought that the couples' dynamics made up for it in that each of the 4 couples showed how they are a good match and have each other's back.

So thumbs up from me!

Yes, liked Anu in this one, she and Raj had great interactions with each other and with other people, hope to see more of her plot.

I think the friendship dynamics have been generally strained lately, but it bothers me less when it's mostly between Howardette and Shamy. It makes sense, I don't think these four would be close if it weren't for Lenny. Bernadette and Amy seem to be way better friends than Sheldon and Howard, that is true, but if Lenny moved away I don't think they would meet each other as couples, maybe just Bernie and Amy every once in a while.

Eh, nah, I wouldn't go that far. Shamy and Howardette had some great friendship moments in the past (no matter in what constellation) so I think there would be enough ~friendship glue~ left over to keep the rest of the gang sticking together if Lenny moved away.

Regardless, I always enjoy when they have stories with the 4 of them. Great comedic chemistry between them.

90% of Ms. Potts review I agree with. I’m sure she’s laughing at Ms Radloffs article about the non Lenny storyline came about. The 10% I think she got wrong on involves Lenny. No one is getting divorced on here. Do the writers write them badly? Obviously. But last night proved to me why their unique compared to the others. At the party the other three couples looked like cookie cutter couples. Nothing unique about them. I myself wasnt hanging on the edge of my seat waiting for what Bernadette or Anu were wearing. I wasn’t giving  the episode an excellent or poor based on what Bert or Stuart were wearing or even for that matter Penny. I watched it for the stories. While the Lenny storyline was good the other storyline was not. As others have mentioned and I agree with do you want to remember the last TBBT Halloween episode with two of the couples fighting?
