You can argue all you want, but that's the simple truth. I'm done with this topic! Edited December 9, 2018 by chucky

I don’t know how many times it has been stated on the forum but Johnny said early on that Lorre offered him the character ‘Sheldon’ but he turned it down because he wanted the character ‘Leonard’, he wanted tha character since it was the character with romantic story in the show. So from the beginning there was going to be a romantic relationship with the main female character with the character ‘Leonard’ and if Johnny knew it from the beginning I think you can logically assume Lorre was pitching it. SRAM
There is actually no evidence that they didn’t pitch the female lead and Leonard and only pitched the nerds and the pretty girl. 1 minute ago, Chrismo said: The premise of the show had nothing to do with Amy or YS. That is very true, the other romances were probably not even thought about originally.

Agreed. If that wasn’t the case Leonard wouldn’t have had any interest in Penny in the pilot.

Not necessarily this episode but there is a bit of a knee jerk reaction of adding Anu and Stunise on a more regular basis. Just like the writers then the writers have nothing else. That’s another reason for YS on.It kills time on TBBT while getting promoted

I vaguely remember something about that, but I do know personally I was considering ditching it on my Netflix binge around Season 3 when it felt very stale and the characters weren't really growing that much. The introduction of Bernadette and especially Amy really gave the show the shot in the arm it needed IMO. Howard and Sheldon got a significant other in their lives and Penny got a huge boost to her character having 'girl friends' that allowed more types of story to be told and fresh new comedy opportunities. I think this season is the first renewal/uncertainty/end of contract one in which we've known this soon whether or not it's the last. By season three - until the very last episode - I was only watching TBBT because I was downloading or recording it for a goddaughter who was away at Cambridge doing her master's. That got me to watch S04E01. It was when Amy gatecrashed girls' night that I wanted to see more. For me the show was about three nerdy guys who were more than they seemed and how they reacted to the world around them. I saw and watched for what the show was originally pitched as. I didn't even like Penny at all when the show started. 10 hours ago, joyceraye said: When I watch those early episodes I'm surprised to see how much Sheldon has always dominated. At the time I thought it was an ensemble show but it centred on Sheldon far more than I realised. It's his universe that's expanded more than anyone's. That is EXACTLY what got me hooked watching when the show started. Sheldon was the only one who was different from anything I had seen in a sitcom before.
