Really? No one commented on th episode here yet? Maybe in Season Discussion... Nah, I'll have it here.

Hmm... It's hard to think of a general description for how I felt about the episode. Yes, I felt it was a strong one, and there was a lot. I smiled throughout, grinned some, though I didn't tear up, I was kind of about to in the speech scene. Most of all I think the main issue of the episode was long long overdue. Maybe it's the length of the show that made it somewhat less exciting, because it made it really long long overdue. Also, overall I feel like an extra 3-5 minutes could have made a vast difference, 3-5 minutes I would give mostly to Penny, and a bit to Raj.

I'll start with the "smaller" parts... Raj. Hmm... Nothing much about him. His big moment was in "The Maternal Conclusion", with Howard. The Sarah Michelle Gellar thing was okay-ish... I felt there should have been a bit more time on that. I mean that in the comedy aspect, because there wasn't anything major there character-wise. Also, how the heck did he get her to come with him?! I feel like something has been cut.

Howardette. Nice to finally see the kids! Though I was surprised Stuart seemed to be kind of a lousy babysitter. Accidents happen, with kids they happen a lot, but they seemed to imply he and Denise were not doing a good job. That's weird, because Stuart allegedly watched over the Wolowitz kids many times. I guess it was just to give Howardette something to do. They had some more to do in "The Change Constant". I'm not sure what Melissa was so surprised about regarding Howardette in the finale. Anyway, I could understand them being shaken by what happened to Halley and initally wanting to come back. Sheldon completely disregarding their drama was probably the stroke that broke their (well, Howard's) back.

Now to Lenny. I totally loved seeing them so chummy and happy together. Adroable. Now, I do like that they will have a baby, maybe more along the way. I also liked that it was Sheldon who brought up the smart and beautiful, since he was the one to shoot Leonard down at the time with his "Imaginary", and this was a bit like him recognizing he was wrong and showing how Leonard and Penny got there even though it seemed very unlikely at first (I mean in-narrative, not from the perspective of an audience watching a sitcom). However, I wish they did it differently. I wish it weren't an accident, and that we've gotten much more than just "It was an accident, I went drinking with Sheldon" and "She didn't (want kids) and now she does" (although that does match the out-of-the-blue-no-explanation-all-of-a-sudden "I don't want kids"). Penny did seem excited, they both seemed very happy. But I so wish we would've gotten much more about that... Why did she not want kids at first? If she changed her mind so easily it was probably more complicated than just not wanting them, perhaps something rooted in anxiety, insecurities, feelings of inadequacy. Touching on this could've made for a wonderful moment for Lenny, I think it would've been great even if they mentioned it as a conversation they had the month before. Why did she change her mind? How is she feeling right now (by that I mean telling us, in more details, not just showing her smile)? And more. I just feel like there could've been a big Penny moment there. I think she reall deserved it. To me that's the biggest miss of the finale. Even if they took just a minute or two for that it would've made th episode so much better, IMO.
Also, I think the little we've seen of pregnant Penny showed the potential it had. I think there were lots of laughs and beautiful moments missed there.

Sheldon, and Amy (because it was mostly or almost exclusively about Sheldon). Long long overdue. Definitely his biggest moment, showing the most growth he's ever shown. For Sheldon Cooper to decide he's giving up his speech, his self-centered speech, his prepared speech, and to go instead with an improvised other-centered speech. That's huge. The speech was very well acted on Parson's part. I think the one who shone in the previous scene where he is confronting his friends' decision to take a flight all the way back and not see them win the Nobel because they were so hurt, was Mayim though. I think we could've gotten more of Sheldon's feelings and realization if they gave Jim an extra minute. Anyway, as I said, long long overdue, and showing the essence of the show well - this group of people, each with their own "quirks", some of them may hurt the others (mosyl in Sheldon's case, of course) tolerating, supporting and helping one another.

And I was right about the last scene after all! 😄 (Cool that they had Penny wear her pilot shirt. I guess the others don't fit into their pilot clothes anymore haha)

My take on the finale was that it was unexpectedly well done.  They really did try to cover all the bases, except maybe for Raj, but it left us fans still wanting more and possibly somewhere down the road a reboot, a reunion, or a tv movie to see how these characters progressed. I did thoroughly enjoy watching.

Raj:  Poor Raj did not really get a proper send-off. You are left to imagine what is next for him.  The Anu plot now seems so wasted and without basis. Don't know why they dropped her, just like Emily with no basis or reasoning.

Howard/Bernadette:  It was nice to see their actual children and the story showed their parental concern. But one question; why didn't they ask Bernadette's parents in the first place to babysit......guess they just wanted to get Stuart some final screen time.

Amy/Sheldon: After the season long arc they finally win the Nobel prize.  Sheldon did become unbearable as predicted but surprising that in his genius he did not take into account all the changes that would effect his life.  It took Amy to give him a shot across the bow to make him realize that the Nobel is just that a prize and that family and friends will always be there. I particularly liked his heartfelt speech and the way he acknowledged his friends....one by one, even submitting to name Howard as astronaut Howard Wolowitz

Penny/Leonard: For all the speculation of the baby issue, I think they handled it well.  They might have explained why Penny did not want to have children....most probably her committment issues, insecurity, or just doubting herself as a mother.  It may have been sweeter to see Penny actually tell leonard that she is pregnant and to see his reaction, also when she told her parents would have been a nice scene but I guess time would not allow for that and so we get that Leonard already knows and looks so proud and happy with his wife.  Believe their ending is just what Kaley said in an interview...a new beginning.  Who knows if this will lead to a spin-off. The stories seem to be there. But all things considered it really was an emotional and touching end to a 12 year journey.

Sad to see the end. I started watching in 2012 on a plane trip!

The two last episodes were very good indeed.

Wishing you all the best in your futures.

I agree with Anu being a waste of time and that disappointed me. But I couldn't stand Emily. She was dropped because she was creepy and didn't connect with any of the other characters. They at least showed Anu trying to enjoy doing things with the gang.

The finale seemed badly rushed, which is ridiculously incompetent considering all the totally unnecessary dross we've been given this season. The final outrage was that we never saw Penny tell Leonard she was preganant! Maybe the writers realised that KC and JG would do such a star-quality emotional job on that scene that it would put their golden couple Shamy in the shade.  Amy's damn haircut got more screentime than Penny's pregnancy!

I was just not overly impressed with this.

I was impressed. So many item addressed and explained. But the news that Penny was pregnant with baby Hofstadter was perfect for me. Penny still wrapping her head around her pregnancy, but happy about it. Your issues with the episode is yours, but definitely not mine!

This episode was a great way to end the show, although a bit of a stretch to believe Howard and Bernadette would leave the country, and leave their children with Stuart. Why not get Bernadette's parents to babysit from the get go?

I would say Bernadette's dress, at the award ceremony, was the most beautiful outfit any of the girls have worn, throughout the entire 12 seasons. She looked absolutely stunning. :heat: We also got a tiny glimpse of old-school, creepy Howard.

Raj was right, in that Amy is a beautiful woman. Have to say though, I wasn't overly impressed with the outfit she wore to the ceremony. It was way too fussy.

Fixing the elevator gave the fans a much needed lift. 😁

I still think Lucy should have been the one for Raj.

Failing that, I'd have liked him to finish up with Issabella.

They might have explained why Penny did not want to have children.

I think they had to have Penny get pregnant, in order to fulfil Leonard's "smart and beautiful" prophecy.

I keep thinking of a Very Brady Christmas, and wonder if a Very Sheldon Saturnalia is in the works.

With him moving to New York, I seriously doubt that happening. He's done with Sheldon Cooper except for Young Sheldon!

I think it should've been either Lucy or someone else better suited for him than Anu. I didn't like him with Isabella, I just didn't feel it.

Agreed, Emily didn't work out because Raj bragged about being with Penny which caused Emily to be jealous and hate Penny. Which caused Penny to hate Emily! Quickdraws can't be trusted!

Raj went thru a lot of women, I guess in the end Cinnamon is his longest lasting relationship. They've been together for 6 years!  8)

I think it would been to squeaky clean if everyone was coupled off. Raj relationships all ended. Some his fault some not. I think the show ended just fine. How it got there can easily be disputed.

How many times have we seen Cinnamon, though, the last couple of seasons. Not much. I still wish they hadn't blown their chance to expand the role of Yvette the vet.

It matters not how many times we've seen Cinnamon, she was still around and Raj's longest running relationship.  ☺️

Raj's Mom and Dad are his longest lasting relationship.

Raj did get to meet Siri who called him sexy, and I think Raj was also pursuing Sheldon's sister Missy.

I think Raj with Sheldon's sister would have created some amusing Sheldon Meltdowns.

I  think a relationship with ones parents is a different entity than a relationship with another person! His meeting SIRI was in a dream sequence.
