I'm right handed and when I open a jar I put the lid in my left hand, just like Young Sheldon.

From Deadline Hollywood

‘Young Sheldon’ Co-Creator Talks More Crossovers & ‘Sheldon’s Endgame — The Contenders Emmys

“There’s no reason why we can’t keep going back and forth in this weird time portal that has been created between the two shows,” said co-creator Steven Molaro when it comes to the number of crossover episodes between CBS’s new hit comedy and it’s predecessor The Big Bang Theory.

Joined by star Iain Armitage at Deadline’s Emmy Contenders event, Molaro talked about young Sheldon’s ongoing development and how far it will get before we meet Jim Parsons’ Sheldon. “I think it would be crazy for us to feel like there’s an endgame in mind. The show takes place 30 years in the past and we don’t really need to adhere to a rigid timeline as long as Iain’s growth as a human being doesn’t mess with that too much.”

While being an offshoot of BBT, Molaro talked about the importance for Young Sheldon to maintain its own identity, which informed the decision to go with a single camera setup.

“It’s important to create a show that didn’t feel like it was trying to chase after whatever Big Bang Theory was. That seemed like an impossible task and we wanted to show a more intimate level of Sheldon’s backstory in Texas. Single camera afforded us a way to see the world from his [point of view].

That's my only problem with the project; regardless whether I'd watch it or not (probably I could even give it a shot, but generally speaking I don't like shows about kids\teens, so not sure I can go beyond the pilot)  I'd hate if for some reason the writers start messing up (more than they already do) with canon in the main show to provide some stories in the "new" one. That would be detrimental for TBBT, more than for "Sheldon".

Sheldon should be 12 in this show, I can't see Laurie Matcalf as the mother of a 12 years old...

her daughter is playing a younger version of her and Sheldon is 9 in the series

The post you are replying to was made long before we got any news about that. Look at the date. ;)

Just wow! One really look like the other 30 years older. Fabulous cast choice! I wonder if the accent is perfect too!

With this Dr. Sturgis mini-arc , I'm reminded of season 9's "The Meemaw Materialization." Meemaw told Amy that she understood Amy's difficulties with Sheldon, and said that her husband was also a difficult man. I guess Meemaw has a "type." I wonder we'll be seeing more of Dr. Sturgis in season two, or if the relationship will cease, for now, in the finale.

I think Sturgis is the reason last night's episode was better than most.

Wallace Shawn is a treasure and his relationship and chemistry with Sheldon is wonderful.

For me the highlight every week of YS are Meemaw and Missy ( “call me Melissa”)!!! I so enjoy them and that is what has me tuning in now....

I watched with my mom and she cracked up at  Missy's dress and Sturgis' turtle look.

From TV Guide

Young Sheldon Showrunner Teases "Easter Egg" for Big Bang Fans in Season 1 Finale

Young Sheldon has doled out fun surprises for fans of The Big Bang Theory all season long. There have been explanations for why grown-up Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is the way he is, and origin stories for beloved Big Bang bits. And the Season 1 finale is going to contain another really big one.

"I can say that there's a lovely Easter egg at the end of the episode that I think people should not miss," Young Sheldon co-creator Steven Molaro tells TV Guide.

We're not going to spoil it, but we'll say that you're going to want to watch this live, because it's going to light the Big Bang Theory part of the internet up.
