From The Hollywood Reporter    (Production on YS has been shut down)

The fate of scripted television production is very much in flux as the world grapples with the coronavirus. As of late Thursday evening, NBCUniversal has either suspended production or accelerated the season wrap schedules on 35 shows (scripted, unscripted and syndicated) as a precaution. CBS meanwhile, is taking a similar strategy and has done the same with a fair amount of its series.

<snip>

Warner Bros. Television Group followed suit and issued the strongest statement to date about a studio's response to TV production amid the coronavirus pandemic: "With the rapidly changing events related to COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, Warner Bros. Television Group is halting production on some of our 70+ series and pilots currently filming or about to begin. The health and safety of our employees, casts and crews remains our top priority. During this time, we will continue to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control as well as local officials and public health professionals in each city where our productions are based."

Among the programs that are being shut down are Warners' The Bachelorette, Young Sheldon, Supergirl, Batwoman, Claws, All Rise, Lucifer, Queen Sugar and THR hears Pennyworth and The Flight Attendant; at Netflix, this includes hit Stranger Things and Grace and Frankie.

The Futon Critic has updated the schedule for Young Sheldon. A rerun of 304 "Hobbitses, Physicses and a Ball with Zip" will air Thursday, May 7. The season finale will air Thursday, May 14.

So that's 22 episodes this season, in line with the previous two. But given the news of the early shut down and the number of reruns being aired in April/May, the plan must have been for 23 or 24 episodes.

I saw this on the Futon Critic today, too. Last month, I read that the wrap party had been canceled at the same time that production was suspended. I wonder if episode 22 is the originally intended finale. Perhaps some groups of individuals are reporting to set to finish production on the episode. Obviously, I have no proof. However, I could see very limited crew and essential cast members called in at specified times to finish a scene. Mom's production was shutdown shortly around episode 20, which aired on April 16th. A rerun is scheduled for this Thursday. Then, CBS is doubling up on Man with a Plan on April 30th. The Futon Critic is listing May 14th as a potential new episode of Mom, meaning that it would have 21 of its presumed 22 episodes completed. Perhaps CBS is scheduling finales for May 14th, and work on those episodes is taking place or will be taking place shortly. All of this is just speculation. I'm also wondering if there will be any more episodes of Bob Hearts Abishola, as it was shutdown, too. The Futon Critic lists May 11th and 18th as potential dates for new episodes.

During tonight's preview of next week's episode, CBS announced it to be the season finale... I wonder if the Futon Critic will be updating their listing for May 14th soon, or perhaps the promo was recorded prior to ongoing discussions about the uncertainty of the number of episodes in the season. We'll have to wait and see...
