Gomez plays Miranda, a hardened, savvy businesswoman with anger-management issues who Cassie meets in Bangkok. She replaces Sonoya Mizuno who was initially cast in the role. The storyline was reworked and the character took on a different creative direction, leading to the recasting.

Production was underway on The Flight Attendant when the coronavirus pandemic shut down virtually all TV and film production in mid-March. Gomez was shooting prior to the shutdown, but the casting never was announced. The series is eyeing a return to production in late August.

Kaley Cuoco's The Flight Attendant Will Be Your Fall TV Obsession

If you're addicted to shows like You and Dead to Me , then get ready to meet your next TV obsession: HBO Max's The Flight Attendant, starring The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco.

The eight-episode dark comedy-thriller is essentially the story of how an entire life can change in one night. Cuoco plays Cassie, a flight attendant who wakes up in bed with a dead man after a luxurious night on the town—and no idea what happened. The series is based on the novel of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Chris Bohjalian.

Cuoco also executive produces the show under her Yes, Norman production company. She's joined by the powerhouse producing team of Greg Berlanti (Riverdale, Arrow, Supernatural) and Sarah Schechter (The Flash, Supergirl).

The series is scheduled to premiere on HBO Max this fall even though production was stopped in mid-March because of the pandemic. “We are looking to get back up and running at the end of August, but the health and safety of our cast and crew are our top priority,” executive producer and co-showrunner Steve Yockey announced at the Television Critics Association virtual summer press tour. "We wouldn't be going back if we didn't think we could keep everyone healthy." Cuoco added during the discussion that they were almost finished with production by the time they shut down earlier this spring. “We're so close," she said.

This topic of for the discussion of Kaley's new Show on HBOMax, The Flight Attendant.   Kaley is the lead actor and executive producer.

I have read this and it is a thrilling and suspenseful book. It also has some racy scenes in it and I guess the question is will Kaley stay true to those scenes as I do not think she has ever done those type of  scenes before in her films

Kaley Cuoco Talks Being ‘Challenged’ on ‘The Flight Attendant’: ‘I Feel Like I Can Do Anything’

Quote

Takeoff is right around the corner. The Flight Attendant, HBO Max’s upcoming miniseries based on Chris Bohjalian‘s 2018 novel, is the perfect series for Kaley Cuoco.

“When I read the book description, I got a chill down my arms,” the actress, 34, told Us Weekly exclusively. “It felt like a good mix of drama and dark comedy. Plus, a complicated female character is a dream role.”

Can't wait to see this show.

I cannot wait either to watch this show.  I am very anxious to see how Kaley does in a dramatic role, although they advertise the show as a  dark comedy-drama.  I just hope all the hype is worth it but Kaley is putting her heart and soul into it so I believe it will be worth watching.........maybe there will  even be an Emmy in her future. Wouldn't that be something.

'The Flight Attendant': Kaley Cuoco on the 'Huge Twist' No One Will See Coming

Quote

After 12 seasons playing plucky Penny Hofstadter on CBS's The Big Bang Theory,TV's top-rated comedy when it ended in 2019, Kaley Cuoco knew it would be a tough act to follow. She didn't think she could win: "If I had chosen a sitcom, [people would] be like, 'Oh, my God, enough.' And if I chose a drama, I never would have won anybody over."

Then she read Chris Bohjalian's 2018 thriller The Flight Attendant. "I got such a chill and thought, 'This could be really incredible if we get the right team together,'" she says. "[The decision] was simple for me."

Have watched this clip and to  be honest as a Lenny fan it will be hard to see "Penny"  kissing someone other than Leonard.  As a topic for discussion : How many guys has Penny kissed on-screen besides Leonard and how many girls has Leonard kissed on-screen besides Penny?

I count only two for Penny- Eric in the hallway when Leonard was kissing Leslie and Zack at the New Years party. For Leonard I count Leslie, Dr. Stephanie, Alice and Priya  Can anyone else think of others

Kaley Cuoco on Her Pivot to Darker Material in HBO Max Thriller 'The Flight Attendant'

The 'Big Bang Theory' star rolls out her young production shingle with a series about an alcoholic stewardess who blacks out in Bangkok before waking up next to a dead body and post-sitcom expectations: "You're easily forgotten."

Second acts are tricky. Second acts for stars of long-running sitcoms can feel damn near impossible, as Kaley Cuoco, who last year wrapped a 12-season run on CBS juggernaut The Big Bang Theory as one of the highest-paid actors in TV, is exceedingly aware. "I have accepted that nothing I ever do will compare to the experience, the show, the success," she says.

Cuoco hopes a segue to producing will ease the transition. Her 3-year-old Warner Bros. shingle, Yes, Norman Productions (named after her 14-year-old pit bull, one of seven rescues with whom Cuoco and her husband share their L.A. home), has already seen niche success with HBO Max cartoon Harley Quinn. But the Nov. 26 premiere of The Flight Attendant, also at HBO Max, brings its own set of expectations. The slick globe-trotting thriller — a project that Cuoco identified and shepherded, centering on an alcoholic flight attendant who blacks out in Bangkok before waking up next to a dead body — is both a post-Big Bang star vehicle for the actor and her first big swing as an executive producer. Her three-person company has at least three more projects in the pipeline, only one involving Cuoco on camera.
